Deutéronome 31
1 Moïse alla donc, et il adressa toutes ces paroles à tout Israël,
Moses [Drawn out] went and spoke these words to all Israel [God prevails].
2 Et il leur dit: J’ai cent vingt ans aujourd’hui, je ne peux plus sortir et entrer, surtout après que le Seigneur m’a dit: Tu ne passeras point ce Jourdain.
He said to them, “I am one hundred twenty years old today. I can no more go out and come in. Adonai has said to me, ‘You shall not go over this Jordan [Descender].’
3 Le Seigneur donc ton Dieu passera devant toi; lui-même détruira toutes ces nations en ta présence, et tu les posséderas: et ce Josué passera devant toi, comme a dit le Seigneur.
Adonai your God himself will go over before you. He will destroy these nations from before you, and you shall dispossess them. Joshua [Yah Salvation] will go over before you, as Adonai has spoken.
4 Et le Seigneur leur fera comme il a fait à Séhon et à Og, rois des Amorrhéens et à leur terre, et il les détruira.
Adonai will do to them as he did to Sihon and to Og, the kings of the Amorites [Descendants of Talkers], and to their land; whom he destroyed.
5 Lors donc qu’il vous les aura aussi livrés, vous leur ferez pareillement, ainsi que je vous ai ordonné:
Adonai will deliver them up before you, and you shall do to them according to all the mitzvot ·instructions· I have enjoined you.
6 Agissez courageusement et fortifiez-vous; ne craignez point, et ne tremblez pas à leur aspect, parce que le Seigneur lui-même est ton guide, et il ne te laissera point, et il ne t’abandonnera point.
Be strong and courageous. Don’t be afraid or scared of them; for Adonai your God himself is who goes with you. He will not fail you nor forsake you.”
7 Et Moïse appela Josué, et lui dit devant tout Israël: Fortifie-toi et sois courageux; car c’est toi qui introduiras ce peuple dans la terre que le Seigneur a juré à ses pères de lui donner, et c’est toi qui la partageras au sort.
Moses [Drawn out] called to Joshua [Yah Salvation], and said to him in the sight of all Israel [God prevails], “Be strong and courageous, for you shall go with this people into the land which Adonai has sworn to their fathers to give them; and you shall cause them to inherit it.
8 Et le Seigneur qui est votre guide, sera lui-même avec toi; il ne te laissera point, et il ne t’abandonnera point: ne crains pas et ne tremble pas.
Adonai himself is who goes before you. He will be with you. He will not fail you nor forsake you. Don’t be afraid. Don’t be discouraged.”
9 C’est pourquoi Moïse écrivit cette loi, et la remit aux prêtres, enfants de Lévi, qui portaient l’arche de l’alliance du Seigneur, et à tous les anciens d’Israël.
Moses [Drawn out] wrote this Torah ·Teaching·, and delivered it to the priests the sons of Levi [United with], who bore the ark of Adonai’s covenant, and to all the elders of Israel [God prevails].
10 Et il leur ordonna, disant: Après sept ans, à l’année de la rémission, à la solennité des tabernacles,
Moses [Drawn out] enjoined them, saying, “At the end of every seven years, in the set time of the year of release, in the festival of Sukkot ·Booths·,
11 Tous ceux d’Israël venant ensemble pour paraître en la présence du Seigneur ton Dieu, au lieu qu’aura choisi le Seigneur, tu liras les paroles de cette loi devant tout Israël, qui écoutera,
when all Israel [God prevails] has come to appear before Adonai your God in the place which he will choose, you shall read this Torah ·Teaching· before all Israel [God prevails] in their hearing.
12 Et tout le peuple étant assemblé, tant les hommes que les femmes, les petits enfants et les étrangers; qui sont au dedans de tes portes, afin que les écoutant, ils les apprennent, et qu’ils craignent le Seigneur votre Dieu, et qu’ils gardent et accomplissent toutes les paroles de cette loi.
Assemble the people, the men and the women and the little ones, and the foreigners who are within your gates, that they may sh'ma ·hear obey·, and that they may learn, and fear Adonai your God, and observe to do all the words of this Torah ·Teaching·;
13 Et que leurs enfants aussi qui maintenant les ignorent, puissent les entendre, et qu’ils craignent le Seigneur leur Dieu, durant tous les jours qu’ils demeureront dans la terre, vers laquelle vous-mêmes vous allez pour vous en emparer, le Jourdain une fois passé.
and that their children, who have not known, may sh'ma ·hear obey·, and learn to fear Adonai your God, as long as you live in the land where you go over the Jordan [Descender] to possess it.”
14 Alors le Seigneur dit à Moïse: Voilà qu’approchent les jours de ta mort; appelle Josué, et tenez-vous dans le tabernacle de témoignage, afin que je lui donne mes ordres. Moïse et Josué allèrent donc, et ils se tinrent dans le tabernacle de témoignage;
Adonai said to Moses [Drawn out], “Behold, your days approach that you must die. Call Joshua [Yah Salvation], and present yourselves in the Tent of Meeting, that I may enjoin him.” Moses [Drawn out] and Joshua [Yah Salvation] went, and presented themselves in the Tent of Meeting.
15 Et le Seigneur y apparut dans une colonne de nuée qui s’arrêta à l’entrée du tabernacle.
Adonai appeared in the Tent in a pillar of cloud, and the pillar of cloud stood over the Tent’s door.
16 Le Seigneur dit alors à Moïse: Voilà que toi, tu dormiras avec tes pères, et ce peuple, se levant, forniquera avec des dieux étrangers dans la terre dans laquelle il va entrer pour y habiter: là, il m’abandonnera, et il rendra vaine mon alliance, l’alliance que j’ai faite avec lui.
Adonai said to Moses [Drawn out], “Behold, you shall sleep with your fathers. This people will rise up, and play the prostitute after the strange deities of the land, where they go to be among them, and will forsake me, and break my covenant ·binding contract between two or more parties· which I have made with them.
17 Et ma fureur s’irritera contre lui en ce jour-là; et je l’abandonnerai et je lui cacherai ma face, et il sera dévoré: Tous les maux et toutes les afflictions l’envahiront, de sorte qu’il dira en ce jour-là: vraiment, c’est parce que Dieu n’est pas avec moi, que ces maux m’ont envahi.
Then my anger shall be kindled against them in that day, and I will forsake them, and I will hide my face from them, and they shall be devoured, and many evils and troubles shall come on them; so that they will say in that day, ‘Haven’t these evils come on us because our God is not among us?’
18 Mais moi je cacherai, je cèlerai ma face en ce jour-là, à cause de tous les maux qu’il aura faits, parce qu’il aura suivi des dieux étrangers.
I will surely hide my face in that day for all the evil which they have done, in that they have turned to other deities.
19 Maintenant donc écrivez pour vous ce cantique et apprenez-le aux enfants d’Israël, afin qu’ils le retiennent de mémoire, qu’ils le chantent de leur bouche, et que ce chant me soit un témoignage parmi les enfants d’Israël.
“Now therefore write this song for yourselves, and teach it to the children of Israel [God prevails]. Put it in their mouths, that this song may be a witness for me against the children of Israel [God prevails].
20 Car je l’introduirai dans la terre au sujet de laquelle j’ai juré à ses pères, et où coulent du lait et du miel. Et lorsqu’ils auront mangé, et qu’ils seront rassasiés et engraissés, ils se tourneront vers des dieux étrangers et les serviront; ils parleront contre moi et rendront vaine mon alliance.
For when I have brought them into the land which I swore to their fathers, flowing with milk and honey, and they have eaten and filled themselves, and grown fat; then they will turn to other deities, and abad ·serve· them, and despise me, and break my covenant.
21 Après qu’une foule de maux et d’afflictions l’auront envahi, ce cantique lui répondra comme un témoignage qu’aucun oubli n’effacera de la bouche de sa postérité. Car je sais ses pensées, ce qu’il doit faire aujourd’hui, avant que je l’introduise dans la terre que je lui ai promise.
It will happen, when many evils and troubles have come on them, that this song will testify before them as a witness; for it will not be forgotten out of the mouths of their descendants; for I know their ways and what they are doing today, before I have brought them into the land which I swore.”
22 Moïse écrivit donc le cantique, et il l’apprit aux enfants d’Israël.
So Moses [Drawn out] wrote this song the same day, and taught it the children of Israel [God prevails].
23 Or le Seigneur ordonna à Josué, fils de Nun, et il lui dit: Prends courage et sois fort; car c’est toi qui introduiras les enfants d’Israël dans la terre que j’ai promise, et moi, je serai avec toi.
He enjoined Joshua [Yah Salvation] the son of Nun, and said, “Be strong and courageous; for you shall bring the children of Israel [God prevails] into the land which I swore to them. I will be with you.”
24 Après donc que Moïse eut écrit les paroles de cette loi dans un livre, et qu’il eut achevé,
When Moses [Drawn out] had finished writing the words of this Torah ·Teaching· in a book, until they were finished,
25 Il ordonna aux Lévites qui portaient l’arche de l’alliance du Seigneur, disant:
Moses [Drawn out] enjoined the Levites [Descendants of United with], who bore the ark of Adonai’s covenant, saying,
26 Prenez ce livre, et placez-le à côté de l’arche de l’alliance du Seigneur votre Dieu, afin qu’il y soit un témoignage contre toi.
“Take this book of the Torah ·Teaching·, and put it by the side of the ark of Adonai’s covenant your God, that it may be there for a witness against you.
27 Car moi, je connais ton obstination et ton cou très roide. Moi vivant encore, et marchant avec vous, vous avez toujours agi opiniâtrement contre le Seigneur; combien plus lorsque je serai mort?
For I know your rebellion, and your stiff neck. Behold, while I am yet alive with you today, you have been rebellious against Adonai. How much more after my death?
28 Assemblez auprès de moi tous les anciens selon vos tribus et vos docteurs, et je leur ferai entendre ces paroles, et j’invoquerai contre eux le ciel et la terre.
Assemble to me all the elders of your tribes, and your officers, that I may speak these words in their ears, and call heaven and earth to witness against them.
29 Car je sais qu’après ma mort vous agirez avec iniquité, et que vous vous détournerez bien vite de la voie que je vous ai prescrite: et que les maux viendront au-devant de vous dans les derniers temps, quand vous aurez fait le mal en la présence du Seigneur, de manière à l’irriter par les œuvres de vos mains.
For I know that after my death you will utterly corrupt yourselves, and turn aside from the way which I have enjoined you; and evil will happen to you in the latter days; because you will do what Adonai sees as evil and provoke him to anger by your deeds.”
30 Moïse prononça donc les paroles de ce cantique, l’assemblée entière d’Israël écoutant, et il le récita jusqu’à la fin.
Moses [Drawn out] spoke in the ears of all the assembly of Israel [God prevails] the words of this song, until they were finished.
