Deutéronome 3
1 C’est pourquoi, étant retournés, nous montâmes par le chemin de Basan; et Og, roi de Bazan, sortit à notre rencontre avec tout son peuple pour combattre à Edraï.
And so we turneden, and stieden bi the weie of Basan; and Og, the kyng of Basan, yede out ayens vs with his puple, to fiyte in Edrai.
2 Alors le Seigneur me dit: Ne le crains point, parce qu’il a été livré en ta main avec tout son peuple et sa terre; et tu lui feras comme tu as fait à Séhon, roi des Amorrhéens, qui habitait à Hésébon.
And the Lord seide to me, Drede thou not hym, for he is bitakun in thin hond, with al his puple, and his lond; and thou schalt do to hym, as thou didist to Seon, kyng of Ammoreis, that dwellide in Esebon.
3 Le Seigneur notre Dieu livra donc aussi en nos mains Og, roi de Basan, et tout son peuple; nous les battîmes jusqu’à une entière extermination,
Therfor oure Lord God bitook in oure hondis also Og, kyng of Basan, and al his puple; and we han smyte hym `til to deeth,
4 Dévastant toutes ses cités en un même temps (il n’y eut point de ville qui nous échappât): soixante villes, toute la contrée d’Argob, royaume d’Og en Basan.
and wastiden alle the citees `of him in o tyme; no town was that ascapide vs; `we destrieden sixti citees, al the cuntrei of Argob, of the rewme of Og in Basan.
5 Toutes les villes étaient fortifiées de murs très hauts, et de portes et de verrous, outre les villes innombrables qui n’avaient point de murs.
Alle the citees weren strengthid with hiyest wallis, and with yatis and barris; with out townes vnnoumbrable, that hadden not wallis.
6 Et nous détruisîmes ces peuples, comme nous avions fait à Séhon, roi d’Hésébon, détruisant toute ville, les hommes, les femmes et les petits enfants.
And we diden awey thilke men, as we diden to Seon, kyng of Esebon; and we losten ech citee, and men, and wymmen, and litle children;
7 Mais les bestiaux et les dépouilles des villes, nous les enlevâmes.
forsothe we token bi prey beestis, and the spuylis of citees.
8 Nous prîmes donc en ce temps-là la terre des deux rois des Amorrhéens, qui étaient au-delà du Jourdain, depuis le torrent d’Arnon jusqu’à la montagne d’Hermon,
And we token in that tyme the lond fro the hond of twey kyngis of Ammorreis, that weren biyonde Jordan, fro the stronde of Arnon `til to the hil of Hermon,
9 Que les Sidoniens appellent Sarion, et les Amorrhéens Sanir;
`which hil Sidonyes clepen Sarion, and Ammorreis clepen Sanyr.
10 Toutes les villes qui sont situées dans la plaine, et toute la terre de Galaad et de Basan jusqu’à Selcha et Edraï, villes du royaume d’Og en Basan.
We tooken alle the citees that weren set in the pleyn, and al the lond of Galaad, and of Basan, `til to Selcha and Edray, citees of the rewme of Og, in Basan.
11 Car le seul Og, roi de Basan, était resté de la race des géants. On montre son lit de fer qui est à Rabbath des enfants d’Ammon, ayant neuf coudées de longueur, et quatre de largeur, selon la mesure de la coudée d’une main d’homme.
For Og aloone, kyng of Basan, was left of the generacioun of giauntis; and his yrun bed is schewid, which is in Rabath, of the sones of Amon, and hath nyne cubitis of lengthe, and foure cubitis of breede, at the mesure of a cubit of mannus hond.
12 Ainsi, nous possédâmes en ce temps-là la terre, depuis Aroër qui est sur le bord du torrent d’Arnon, jusqu’au milieu de la montagne de Galaad, et j’en donnai les villes à Ruben et à Gad.
And we weldiden in that tyme the lond, fro Aroer, which is on the `brynke of the stronde of Arnon, `til to the myddil paart of the hil of Galaad; and Y yaf the citees `of hym to Ruben and Gad.
13 Mais le reste de Galaad et tout le Basan du royaume d’Og, je le livrai à la demi-tribu de Manassé, ainsi que toute la contrée d’Argob: or, tout le Basan est appelé terre de géants.
Forsothe Y yaf the tother part of Galaad, and al Basan, of the rewme of Og, to the half lynage of Manasses, and al the cuntrei of Argob. Al Basan was clepid the lond of giauntis.
14 Jaïr, fils de Manassé, posséda toute la contrée d’Argob, jusqu’aux frontières de Gessuri et de Machati; et il appela de son nom Basan, Havoth Jaïr, c’est-à-dire bourgs de Jaïr, ce qui a été leur nom jusqu’au présent jour.
Jair, `sone of Manasses, weldide al the cuntrey of Argob, `til to the lond of Gesuri and of Machati; and he clepide bi his name Basan Anothiair, that is, the townes of Jair, til in to present dai.
15 Je donnai aussi Galaad à Machir.
Also Y yaf Galaad to Machir; and to the lynagis of Ruben and of Gad Y yaf the lond of Galaad, `til to the strond of Arnon, the myddil of the stronde,
16 Mais aux tribus de Ruben et de Gad, je donnai de la terre de Galaad jusqu’au torrent d’Arnon, la moitié du torrent et de ses confins jusqu’au torrent de Jéboc, qui est la frontière des enfants d’Ammon;
and of the endis `til to the stronde of Jeboth, which is the terme of `the sones of Amon.
17 De plus, la plaine du désert, le Jourdain, et les frontières de Cénéreth jusqu’à la mer du désert, qui est la très salée, jusqu’au pied de la montagne de Phasga, contre l’orient.
And Y yaf the pleyn of the wildernesse `til to Jordan, and the termes of Cenereth `til to the see of deseert, which see is moost salt, at the rotis of the hil of Phasga, ayens the eest.
18 Et je vous ordonnai en ce temps-là, disant: Le Seigneur votre Dieu vous donne cette terre en héritage; tous prêts au combat, précédez vos frères, les enfants d’Israël, vous tous, hommes forts,
And Y comaundide to you in that tyme, and seide, Youre Lord God yyueth to you this lond in to erytage;
19 Sans vos femmes, vos petits enfants et vos bestiaux. Car je sais que vous avez de nombreux troupeaux; or, ils devront demeurer dans les villes que je vous ai livrées,
alle ye stronge men, without wyues and litle children and beestis, be maad redi, and `go ye bifor youre brithren, the sones of Israel. For Y knowe that ye han many beestis, and tho schulen dwelle in citees whiche Y yaf to you,
20 Jusqu’à ce que le Seigneur accorde le repos à vos frères, comme il vous l’a accordé; et qu’ils possèdent, eux-mêmes aussi, la terre qu’il doit leur donner au-delà du Jourdain: alors chacun retournera en sa possession que je lui ai donnée.
til the Lord yyue reste to youre brithren, as he yaf to you, and til thei also welden the lond `which the Lord schal yyue to hem biyonde Jordan; thanne ech man schal turne ayen in to his possessioun which Y yaf to you.
21 À Josué aussi j’ai ordonné en ce temps-là, disant: Tes yeux ont vu ce qu’a fait le Seigneur votre Dieu à ces deux rois: c’est ainsi qu’il fera à tous les royaumes dans lesquels tu dois passer.
Also Y comaundid to Josue in that tyme, and seide, Thin iyen sien what thingis youre Lord God dide to these twei kyngis; so he schal do to alle rewmes, to whiche thou schalt go; drede thou not hem.
22 Ne les crains point; car le Seigneur votre Dieu combattra pour vous.
And Y preiede the Lord in that tyme,
23 Et je priai le Seigneur en ce temps-là, disant:
and seide, Lord God, thou hast bigunne to schewe to thi seruaunt thi greetnesse, and strongeste hond,
24 Seigneur Dieu, vous avez commencé à montrer à votre serviteur votre grandeur, et votre main très puissante; car il n’est pas d’autre Dieu ou dans le ciel ou sur la terre, qui puisse faire vos œuvres, et être comparé à votre puissance.
for noon other God is ether in heuene, ether in erthe, that mai do thi werkis, and may be comparisound to thi strengthe.
25 Je passerai donc, et je verrai cette terre excellente au-delà du Jourdain, et cette belle montagne, et le Liban.
Therfor Y schal passe, and schal se this beeste lond biyende Jordan, and this noble hil and Liban.
26 Mais le Seigneur, irrité contre moi à cause de vous, ne m’exauça pas, mais il me dit: C’est assez pour toi, ne me parle plus de cela.
And the Lord was wrooth to me for you, nethir he herde me, but seide to me, It suffisith to thee; speke thou no more of this thing to me.
27 Monte au sommet de Phasga, et promène tes yeux vers l’occident, et vers l’aquilon, et le midi, et l’orient, et regarde; car tu ne passeras pas le Jourdain.
`Stye thou in to the hiynesse of Phasga, and caste aboute thin iyen to the west, and north, and south, and eest, and biholde, for thou schalt not passe this Jordan.
28 Ordonne à Josué, affermis-le et le fortifie, parce que c’est lui-même qui précédera ce peuple, et qui leur divisera la terre que tu vas voir.
Comaunde thou to Josue, and strengthe thou and coumforte hym; for he schal go bifore this puple, and he schal departe to hem the lond, which thou schalt se.
29 Et nous demeurâmes dans la vallée, contre le temple de Phogor.
And we dwelliden in the valey ayens the temple of Phegor.
