Deutéronome 15

1 À la septième année, tu feras la rémission,

At the end of every seven years thou shalt make a release.

2 Qui sera célébrée de cette manière: Celui à qui il est dû quelque chose par son ami ou son prochain et son frère, ne pourra le redemander, parce que c’est l’année de la rémission du Seigneur.

And this is the manner of the release: every creditor shall release that which he hath lent unto his neighbour; he shall not exact it of his neighbour and his brother; because the LORD'S release hath been proclaimed.

3 Tu l’exigeras du voyageur et de l’étranger: tu n’auras pas le pouvoir de le redemander à ton concitoyen et à un de tes proches.

Of a foreigner thou mayest exact it; but whatsoever of thine is with thy brother thy hand shall release.

4 Et il n’y aura aucun indigent et aucun mendiant parmi vous, afin que le Seigneur ton Dieu te bénisse dans la terre qu’il va te livrer en possession.

Howbeit there shall be no needy among you — for the LORD will surely bless thee in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee for an inheritance to possess it —

5 Si cependant tu écoutes la voix du Seigneur ton Dieu, et que tu observes tout ce qu’il a commandé, et que moi aujourd’hui, je te prescris, il te bénira comme il a promis.

if only thou diligently hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe to do all this commandment which I command thee this day.

6 Tu prêteras à beaucoup de nations, mais toi-même, tu ne recevras de prêt de personne. Tu domineras sur plusieurs nations, et personne ne te dominera.

For the LORD thy God will bless thee, as He promised thee; and thou shalt lend unto many nations, but thou shalt not borrow; and thou shalt rule over many nations, but they shall not rule over thee.

7 Si un de tes frères qui demeurera au dedans des portes de ta ville, dans la terre que le Seigneur ton Dieu va te donner, tombe dans la pauvreté, tu n’endurciras point ton cœur, et tu ne resserreras point ta main,

If there be among you a needy man, one of thy brethren, within any of thy gates, in thy land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not harden thy heart, nor shut thy hand from thy needy brother;

8 Mais tu l’ouvriras au pauvre, et tu lui prêteras ce dont tu verras qu’il aura besoin.

but thou shalt surely open thy hand unto him, and shalt surely lend him sufficient for his need in that which he wanteth.

9 Prends garde qu’une pensée impie ne s’insinue en toi, et que tu ne dises en ton cœur: La septième année de la rémission approche; et que tu ne détournes ainsi les yeux de ton frère pauvre, ne voulant pas lui faire le prêt qu’il demande, de peur qu’il ne crie contre toi au Seigneur, et que cela ne devienne pour toi un péché.

Beware that there be not a base thought in thy heart, saying: 'The seventh year, the year of release, is at hand'; and thine eye be evil against thy needy brother, and thou give him nought; and he cry unto the LORD against thee, and it be sin in thee.

10 Mais tu lui donneras, et tu ne feras rien avec ruse en soulageant ses besoins pressants, afin que le Seigneur ton Dieu te bénisse en tout temps et en toutes les choses auxquelles tu auras mis la main.

Thou shalt surely give him, and thy heart shall not be grieved when thou givest unto him; because that for this thing the LORD thy God will bless thee in all thy work, and in all that thou puttest thy hand unto.

11 Les pauvres ne manqueront pas dans la terre de ton habitation; c’est pour cela que moi, je t’ordonne d’ouvrir ta main à ton frère indigent et pauvre, qui demeure avec toi dans ta terre.

For the poor shall never cease out of the land; therefore I command thee, saying: 'Thou shalt surely open thy hand unto thy poor and needy brother, in thy land.'

12 Lorsque ton frère t’aura été vendu, un hébreu ou une hébreue, et qu’il t’aura servi pendant six ans, tu le renverras libre à la septième année;

If thy brother, a Hebrew man, or a Hebrew woman, be sold unto thee, he shall serve thee six years; and in the seventh year thou shalt let him go free from thee.

13 Et celui que tu gratifieras de la liberté, tu ne souffriras nullement qu’il s’en aille les mains vides;

And when thou lettest him go free from thee, thou shalt not let him go empty;

14 Mais tu lui donneras un viatique pris de tes troupeaux, de ton aire, de ton pressoir, dont t’a béni le Seigneur ton Dieu.

thou shalt furnish him liberally out of thy flock, and out of thy threshing-floor, and out of thy winepress; of that wherewith the LORD thy God hath blessed thee thou shalt give unto him.

15 Souviens-toi que toi-même, tu as servi dans la terre d’Egypte, et que le Seigneur ton Dieu t’a délivré; c’est pour cela que moi je t’ordonne maintenant ces choses.

And thou shalt remember that thou wast a bondman in the land of Egypt, and the LORD thy God redeemed thee; therefore I command thee this thing to-day.

16 Mais s’il dit: Je ne veux pas sortir, parce qu’il t’aime, toi et ta maison, et qu’il sent qu’il est bon pour lui d’être chez toi,

And it shall be, if he say unto thee: 'I will not go out from thee'; because he loveth thee and thy house, because he fareth well with thee;

17 Tu prendras une alène, tu perceras son oreille à la porte de ta maison, et il te servira jusqu’à jamais; pour ta servante aussi, tu feras pareillement.

then thou shalt take an awl, and thrust it through his ear and into the door, and he shall be thy bondman for ever. And also unto thy bondwoman thou shalt do likewise.

18 Ne détourne point tes yeux d’eux, quand tu les auras renvoyés libres, parce qu’il t’a servi pendant six ans, avec le salaire d’un mercenaire, afin que le Seigneur ton Dieu te bénisse dans tous les ouvrages que tu feras.

It shall not seem hard unto thee, when thou lettest him go free from thee; for to the double of the hire of a hireling hath he served thee six years; and the LORD thy God will bless thee in all that thou doest.

19 Quant aux premiers-nés, qui naissent dans ton gros bétail et parmi tes brebis, tu consacreras au Seigneur ton Dieu tout ce qui est mâle. Tu n’emploieras point au travail le premier-né du bœuf, et tu ne tondras point les premiers-nés des brebis.

All the firstling males that are born of thy herd and of thy flock thou shalt sanctify unto the LORD thy God; thou shalt do no work with the firstling of thine ox, nor shear the firstling of thy flock.

20 Tu les mangeras chaque année, toi et ta maison, en la présence du Seigneur ton Dieu, au lieu qu’aura choisi le Seigneur.

Thou shalt eat it before the LORD thy God year by year in the place which the LORD shall choose, thou and thy household.

21 Mais si le premier-né a une tache, s’il est boiteux, ou aveugle, ou difforme en quelque endroit, ou mutilé, il ne sera point immolé au Seigneur ton Dieu;

And if there be any blemish therein, lameness, or blindness, any ill blemish whatsoever, thou shalt not sacrifice it unto the LORD thy God.

22 Mais tu le mangeras au dedans des portes de ta ville: tant le pur que l’impur en mangeront également, comme de la chèvre sauvage et du cerf.

Thou shalt eat it within thy gates; the unclean and the clean may eat it alike, as the gazelle, and as the hart.

23 Tu prendras garde seulement de ne pas manger leur sang, mais tu le répandras sur la terre comme l’eau.

Only thou shalt not eat the blood thereof; thou shalt pour it out upon the ground as water.
