Deutéronome 14

1 Soyez les enfants du Seigneur votre Dieu: vous ne vous ferez point d’incisions; et vous ne couperez point vos cheveux à cause d’un mort,

Ye are sons of Jehovah your God: ye shall not cut yourselves, nor make any baldness between your eyes for a dead person.

2 Parce que tu es un peuple consacré au Seigneur ton Dieu; et il t’a choisi, afin que tu sois son peuple particulier entre toutes les nations qui sont sur la terre.

For thou art a holy people unto Jehovah thy God, and thee hath Jehovah chosen for a people of possession unto himself, out of all the peoples that are upon the face of the earth.

3 Ne mangez pas ce qui est impur.

Thou shalt not eat any abominable thing.

4 Voici les animaux que vous devez manger: le bœuf, la brebis, la chèvre,

These are the beasts which ye shall eat: the ox, the sheep, and the goat;

5 Le cerf, et la chèvre sauvage, le bubale, le tragélaphe, le pygargue, l’oryx, la girafe.

the hart, and the gazelle, and the stag, and the wild goat, and the dishon and the oryx, and the wild sheep.

6 Tout animal qui a l’ongle fendu en deux et qui rumine, vous en mangerez.

And every beast that hath cloven hoofs, and the feet quite split open into double hoofs, [and] which cheweth the cud, among the beasts, that ye shall eat.

7 Mais pour ceux qui ruminent, et qui n’ont pas l’ongle fendu, comme le chameau, le lièvre, le chœrogrylle, vous ne devez pas en manger: parce que ces animaux ruminent, mais qu’ils n’ont pas l’ongle fendu, ils seront impurs pour vous.

Only these ye shall not eat of those that chew the cud, or of those with hoofs cloven and split open: the camel, and the hare, and the rock-badger; for they chew the cud, but have not cloven hoofs — they shall be unclean unto you;

8 Le pourceau aussi, puisqu’il a l’ongle fendu, mais qu’il ne rumine point, sera impur; vous ne mangerez point de leur chair, et vous ne toucherez point leurs corps morts.

and the swine, for it hath cloven hoofs, yet cheweth not the cud — it shall be unclean unto you. Of their flesh shall ye not eat, and their carcase shall ye not touch.

9 Voici les bêtes que vous mangerez entre toutes celles qui vivent dans les eaux: celles qui ont des nageoires et des écailles, mangez-les;

These shall ye eat of all that are in the waters: whatsoever hath fins and scales shall ye eat;

10 Celles qui sont sans nageoires et sans écailles, ne les mangez point, parce qu’elles sont impures.

but whatsoever hath not fins and scales ye shall not eat: it shall be unclean unto you.

11 Mangez tous les oiseaux purs.

All clean birds shall ye eat.

12 Ne mangez point les impurs: c’est-à-dire l’aigle, le griffon et l’aigle de mer,

But these are they of which ye shall not eat: the eagle, and the ossifrage, and the sea-eagle,

13 L’ixion, le vautour et le milan, selon son espèce;

and the falcon, and the kite, and the black kite after its kind;

14 Tout ce qui est de l’espèce du corbeau;

and every raven after its kind;

15 L’autruche, le hibou, le larus et l’épervier, selon son espèce;

and the female ostrich, and the male ostrich, and the sea-gull, and the hawk after its kind;

16 Le héron, le cygne, l’ibis,

the owl, and the ibis and the swan,

17 Le plongeon, le porphyrion, la chouette,

and the pelican, and the carrion vulture, and the gannet,

18 L’onocrotale et le pluvier, chacun dans son espèce; la huppe aussi et la chauve-souris.

and the stork, and the heron after its kind, and the hoopoe, and the bat.

19 Et tout ce qui rampe sur la terre et qui a des ailes, sera impur, et ne se mangera pas.

And every winged crawling thing shall be unclean unto you; they shall not be eaten.

20 Mangez tout ce qui est pur.

All clean fowls shall ye eat.

21 Quant à tout animal qui est crevé, n’en mangez point; donne-le à l’étranger qui est au-dedans de tes portes, afin qu’il en mange, ou vends-lui, parce que toi, tu es le peuple saint du Seigneur ton Dieu. Tu ne feras point cuire un chevreau dans le lait de sa mère.

Ye shall eat of no carcase; thou shalt give it unto the stranger that is within thy gates, that he may eat it, or sell it unto a foreigner; for thou art a holy people to Jehovah thy God. Thou shalt not boil a kid in its mother's milk.

22 Tu sépareras la dixième partie de tous les fruits qui naissent dans la terre tous les ans;

Thou shalt truly tithe all the increase of thy seed, the produce of the field, year by year.

23 Et tu en mangeras en la présence du Seigneur ton Dieu, au lieu qu’il aura choisi, afin que son nom y soit invoqué, le dixième de ton blé, de ton vin, de ton huile, et les premiers-nés de ton gros bétail et de tes brebis; afin que tu apprennes à craindre le Seigneur ton Dieu en tout temps.

And thou shalt eat before Jehovah thy God, in the place which he will choose to cause his name to dwell there, the tithe of thy corn, of thy new wine, and of thine oil, and the firstlings of thy herds and of thy flocks; that thou mayest learn to fear Jehovah thy God continually.

24 Mais lorsque le chemin sera trop long jusqu’au lieu qu’aura choisi le Seigneur ton Dieu, et lorsqu’il t’aura béni, et que tu ne pourras pas lui apporter toutes ces offrandes,

And if the way be too long for thee, so that thou art not able to carry it, because the place is too far from thee, which Jehovah thy God will choose to set his name there, when Jehovah thy God blesseth thee;

25 Tu vendras tout, tu en feras de l’argent, puis tu le porteras en ta main, et tu partiras pour le lieu qu’aura choisi le Seigneur ton Dieu;

then shalt thou give it for money, and bind the money together in thy hand, and go to the place which Jehovah thy God will choose,

26 Tu achèteras avec ce même argent tout ce qui te plaira, soit en gros bétail, soit en brebis, du vin aussi et de la cervoise, et tout ce que désire ton âme; et tu mangeras devant le Seigneur ton Dieu, et tu feras un festin, toi et ta maison;

and thou shalt give the money for whatever thy soul desireth, for oxen, or for sheep, or for wine, or for strong drink, or for whatever thy soul asketh of thee; and thou shalt eat there before Jehovah thy God, and thou shalt rejoice, thou, and thy house.

27 Et le Lévite qui est au-dedans de tes portes, garde-toi de l’abandonner, parce qu’il n’a pas d’autre part dans ta sion.

And thou shalt not forsake the Levite that is within thy gates; for he hath no portion nor inheritance with thee.

28 À la troisième année, tu sépareras une autre dîme de tout ce qui te vient en ce temps, et tu la réserveras au-dedans de tes portes.

At the end of three years thou shalt bring forth all the tithe of thine increase the same year, and shalt lay it up within thy gates;

29 Et il viendra, le Lévite qui n’a point de part ni de possession avec toi, ainsi que l’étranger, l’orphelin et la veuve qui sont au dedans de tes portes, et ils mangeront et se rassasieront, afin que le Seigneur ton Dieu te bénisse dans tous les ouvrages de tes mains que tu feras.

and the Levite — for he hath no portion nor inheritance with thee — and the stranger, and the fatherless, and the widow, that are within thy gates, shall come, and shall eat and be satisfied; that Jehovah thy God may bless thee in all the work of thy hand which thou doest.
