Deutéronome 12
1 Voici les préceptes et les ordonnances que vous devez pratiquer dans le pays que le Seigneur Dieu de tes pères va te donner, afin que tu le possèdes durant tous les jours que tu marcheras sur la terre.
These are the statutes and the regulations which ye must observe to do, in the land which Yahweh the God of thy fathers hath given unto thee, to possess it, —all the days that ye are living upon the soil:
2 Renversez tous les lieux dans lesquels les nations que vous allez posséder ont adoré leurs dieux sur les hautes montagnes et sur les collines, et sous les arbres couverts de feuillage.
Ye must utterly destroy, all the places where the nations whom ye are dispossessing have served their gods, —Upon the high mountains And upon the hills, And under every green tree;
3 Détruisez leurs autels, et brisez leurs statues, brûlez au feu leurs lieux sacrés et réduisez en poudre leurs idoles: effacez leurs noms de ces lieux.
And ye must tear down their altars And break in pieces their pillars, And, their sacred stems, must ye consume with fire, And the carved images of their gods, must ye fell to the ground, —And destroy their name out of that place.
4 Vous ne ferez pas ainsi envers le Seigneur votre Dieu;
Ye must not do thus unto Yahweh your God;
5 Mais vous viendrez au lieu que le Seigneur votre Dieu aura choisi d’entre toutes vos tribus, pour y établir son nom, et pour y habiter;
but, unto the place which Yahweh your God shall choose out of all your tribes, to put his name there, —as his habitation, shall ye ask your way, and come in thither;
6 Et vous offrirez en ce lieu vos holocaustes et vos victimes, les dîmes et les prémices de vos mains, vos vœux et vos dons, les premiers-nés de vos bœufs et de vos brebis.
and bring in thither your ascending-offerings and your sacrifices, and your tithes, and the heave-offering of your hand, —and your vow-offerings and your freewill-offerings, and the firstlings of your herd and of your flock;
7 Et vous mangerez là en la présence du Seigneur votre Dieu, et vous vous réjouirez en toutes les choses auxquelles vous aurez mis la main vous et vos maisons, et dans lesquelles vous aura bénis le Seigneur votre Dieu.
and shall eat there before Yahweh your God, and rejoice in all whereunto ye are putting your hand, Ye, and your households, —wherewith Yahweh thy God hath blessed thee.
8 Vous ne ferez point là ce que nous faisons ici aujourd’hui, chacun ce qui lui paraît juste.
Ye must not do according to all that we are doing here to-day, —every man, whatsoever is right in his own eyes.
9 Car jusqu’au présent temps vous n’êtes pas venus dans le repos et la possession que le Seigneur votre Dieu va vous donner.
Because ye have not entered as yet, —into the resting-place and into the inheritance which Yahweh thy God is giving unto thee.
10 Vous passerez le Jourdain et vous habiterez dans la terre que le Seigneur votre Dieu va vous donner, afin que vous y soyez en repos du côté de tous les ennemis d’alentour, et que vous habitiez sans aucune crainte,
But, when ye shall pass over the Jordan, and settle down in the land which, Yahweh your God, is causing you to inherit, —and he shall give you rest from all your enemies round about, and ye shall dwell securely,
11 Dans le lieu qu’aura choisi le Seigneur votre Dieu, pour que son nom y soit: c’est là que vous apporterez tout ce que je vous prescris, vos holocaustes, vos hosties, vos dîmes et les prémices de vos mains, et tout ce qu’il y a de meilleur dans les présents que vous vouerez au Seigneur.
then shall it be, that unto the place which Yahweh your God shall choose to make a habitation for his name there, thither, shall ye bring in all that I am commanding you, —your ascending-offerings and your sacrifices your tithes and the heave-offering of your hand, and all your chosen vow-offerings which ye shall vow unto Yahweh.
12 Là, vous ferez des festins devant le Seigneur votre Dieu, vous, vos fils et vos filles, vos serviteurs et vos servantes, et le Lévite qui demeure dans vos villes; car il n’a pas d’autre part et d’autre possession parmi vous.
So shall ye rejoice before Yahweh your God, Ye, and your sons, and your daughters, and your servants and your handmaids, —and the Levite that is within your gates, forasmuch as he hath neither portion nor inheritance with you.
13 Prends garde de ne point offrir tes holocaustes en tout lieu que tu verras;
Take heed to thyself, lest thou cause thine ascending-sacrifice to go up in just any place which thou shalt see;
14 Mais tu offriras tes hosties dans celui qu’aura choisi le Seigneur en l’une de tes tribus, et tu feras tout ce que je t’ordonne.
but, in the place which Yahweh shall choose in one of thy tribes, there, shalt thou cause thine ascending-sacrifice to go up, and, there, shalt thou do all that I am commanding thee.
15 Mais si tu veux manger, et que l’aliment de la chair le plaise, tue et mange, selon la bénédiction que le Seigneur ton Dieu t’aura donnée dans tes villes: que l’animal, soit impur, c’est-à-dire, ayant quelque tache ou étant mutilé, soit pur, c’est-à-dire entier et sans tache, et qui peut être offert, tu en mangeras, comme de la chèvre sauvage ou du cerf;
Howbeit of anything thy soul desireth, mayest thou sacrifice and so eat flesh—according to the blessing of Yahweh thy God which he hath bestowed upon thee, in all thy gates, the unclean and the clean may eat thereof, —as the gazelle and as the hart,
16 Seulement, sans manger le sang, que tu répandras sur la terre comme l’eau.
Howbeit, the blood, shall ye not eat, —upon the earth, shalt thou pour it out, like water.
17 Tu ne pourras manger dans tes villes la dîme de ton blé, de ton vin et de ton huile, ni les premiers-nés des troupeaux de gros et de menu bétail, ni rien de ce que tu auras voué et de ce que tu auras voulu offrir spontanément, ni les prémices de tes mains;
Thou mayest not eat within thy gates, the tithe of thy corn or of thy new wine or of thine oil, or the firstlings of thy herd, or of thy flock, —nor any of thy vow-offerings which thou shalt vow, nor thy freewill, offerings, nor the heave-offering of thy hand;
18 Mais tu les mangeras devant le Seigneur ton Dieu, dans le lieu que le Seigneur ton Dieu aura choisi, toi, ton fils et ta fille, ton serviteur et ta servante, et le Lévite qui demeure dans tes villes; et tu te réjouiras et tu te réconforteras devant le Seigneur ton Dieu, en toutes les choses auxquelles tu auras mis ta main.
but before Yahweh thy God, shalt thou eat it in the place which Yahweh thy God shall choose, thou and thy son and thy daughter, and thy servant and thy handmaid, and the Levite who is within thy gates, —so shalt thou rejoice before Yahweh thy God, in all whereunto thou puttest thy hand.
19 Prends garde de ne pas abandonner le Lévite pendant tout le temps que tu seras sur la terre.
Take heed to thyself, lest thou forsake the Levite, —all thy days upon thy soil.
20 Quand le Seigneur ton Dieu aura étendu tes limites, comme il t’a dit, et que tu voudras te nourrir de la chair que désire ton âme:
When Yahweh thy God shall enlarge thy boundary—as he hath spoken unto thee—and thou shalt say. I would eat flesh because thy soul desireth to eat flesh, of whatsoever thy soul desireth, mayest thou eat flesh.
21 Si le lieu que le Seigneur ton Dieu aura choisi, pour que son nom y soit, se trouve éloigné, tu tueras du gros et du menu bétail, que tu auras, comme je t’ai ordonné, et tu en mangeras dans tes villes, comme il te plaira.
When the place which Yahweh thy God shall choose to put his name there, shall be, too far for thee, then shalt thou sacrifice of thy herd or of thy flock which Yahweh hath given unto thee, as I have commanded thee, —and shalt eat, within thine own gates, of whatsoever thy soul desireth.
22 Comme on mange de la chèvre sauvage et du cerf, ainsi tu t’en nourriras; et le pur et l’impur en mangeront en commun.
Even as the gazelle and the hart is eaten, so, shalt thou eat it, —the unclean and the clean, alike shall eat it.
23 Garde-toi seulement de manger le sang; car le sang tient lieu d’âme; et c’est pour cela que tu ne dois pas manger l’âme avec la chair,
Howbeit firmly refrain from eating the blood; for the blood, is the life, —therefore must thou not eat the life with the flesh.
24 Mais tu le répandras sur la terre comme l’eau,
Thou shalt not eat it, —upon the earth, shalt thou pour it out, like water.
25 Afin que bien t’arrive, à toi, et à tes enfants après toi, lorsque tu auras fait ce qui plaît en la présence du Seigneur.
Thou shalt not eat it, —that it may be well with thee and with thy children after thee when thou shalt do that which is right in the eyes of Yahweh.
26 Quant à ce que tu auras sanctifié et voué au Seigneur, tu le prendras, puis tu viendras au lieu qu’aura choisi le Seigneur.
Howbeit, thy holy things which thou shalt have and thy vow-offerings, shalt thou take and come in, unto the place which Yahweh shall choose;
27 Et tu offriras pour tes oblations la chair et le sang sur l’autel du Seigneur ton Dieu; tu répandras le sang des hosties sur l’autel; mais toi, tu te nourriras de la chair.
and shalt offer thine ascending-sacrifices, the flesh and the blood, upon the altar of Yahweh thy God, —and the blood of thine [other] sacrifices, shall be poured out upon the altar of Yahweh thy God, and then the flesh, shalt thou eat.
28 Observe et écoute tout ce que moi, je t’ordonne ici, afin que bien t’arrive, à toi et à tes enfants après toi pour toujours, lorsque tu auras fait ce qui est bon et agréable en présence du Seigneur ton Dieu.
Observe and hear all these things which I am commanding thee, —that it may be well with thee and with thy children after thee, —unto times age-abiding, so long as thou shalt do that which is pleasing and right in the eyes of Yahweh thy God.
29 Quand le Seigneur ton Dieu aura détruit devant ta face les nations, chez lesquelles tu entreras, pour les posséder, et que tu les posséderas, et que tu habiteras en leur terre,
When Yahweh thy God shall cut off from before thee, the nations Whom thou art going in to dispossess, —and thou do dispossess them, and dwell in their land,
30 Prends garde de ne pas les imiter, après que, toi y entrant, elles auront été renversées, et de ne pas rechercher leurs cérémonies, disant: Comme ces nations ont adoré leurs dieux, ainsi moi aussi, je les adorerai.
take heed to thyself lest thou be thrust after them, after they have been destroyed from before thee, —and lest thou enquire after their gods, saying—In what manner, did these nations serve their gods, that, I too, may do likewise?
31 Tu ne feras point semblablement envers le Seigneur ton Dieu; car toutes les abominations qu’abhorre le Seigneur, elles les ont faites pour leurs dieux, offrant leurs fils et leurs filles, et les brûlant au feu.
Thou shalt not do likewise unto Yahweh thy God, —for everything that is an abomination unto Yahweh which he doth hate, have they done unto their gods, for even their sons and their daughters, do they consume with fire unto their gods.
32 Fais seulement pour le Seigneur, ce que je t’ordonne; n’ajoute et ne diminue rien.
Whatsoever be the thing which I am commanding you, the same, shall ye observe to do, —thou shalt neither add thereunto, nor take away therefrom.
