Daniel 10
1 En la troisième année de Cyrus, roi des Perses, une parole fut révélée à Daniel, par le surnom Baltassar, une parole véritable, et une grande force; et il comprit la parole; car il est besoin d’intelligence dans cette vision.
In the third year of Cyrus king of Persia a word was revealed unto Daniel, whose name was called Belteshazzar; and the word was true, even a great warfare; and he gave heed to the word, and had understanding of the vision.
2 En ce jour-là, moi Daniel, je pleurais pendant les jours de trois semaines;
In those days I Daniel was mourning three whole weeks.
3 Je ne mangeais pas de pain désirable, et la chair et le vin n’entrèrent pas dans ma bouche, et je ne répandis pas sur moi de parfum, jusqu’à ce que fussent accomplis les jours de trois semaines.
I ate no pleasant bread, neither came flesh nor wine in my mouth, neither did I anoint myself at all, till three whole weeks were fulfilled.
4 Mais le vingt-quatrième jour du premier mois, j’étais près du grand fleuve qui est le Tigre.
And in the four and twentieth day of the first month, as I was by the side of the great river, which is Tigris,
5 Et je levai mes yeux, et je vis; et voici un homme vêtu de lin, et ses reins ceints d’un or très pur;
I lifted up mine eyes, and looked, and behold a man clothed in linen, whose loins were girded with fine gold of Uphaz;
6 Et son corps était comme une chrysolithe, et sa face comme l’aspect de la foudre, et ses yeux comme une lampe ardente; et ses bras et et ses parties basses jusqu’aux pieds, comme une apparence d’airain étincelant, et la voix de ses paroles, comme la voix d’une multitude.
his body also was like the beryl, and his face as the appearance of lightning, and his eyes as torches of fire, and his arms and his feet like in colour to burnished brass, and the voice of his words like the voice of a multitude.
7 Or, moi Daniel, je vis seul la vision, et les hommes qui étaient avec moi ne la virent pas; mais une terreur extraordinaire se saisit d’eux, et ils s’enfuirent dans un lieu caché.
And I Daniel alone saw the vision; for the men that were with me saw not the vision; howbeit a great trembling fell upon them, and they fled to hide themselves.
8 Mais moi étant demeuré seul, je vis cette grande vision; et il ne resta pas en moi de force; mais même mon visage fut changé en moi, et je séchai, et je n’eus aucune force.
So that I was left alone, and saw this great vision, and there remained no strength in me; for my comeliness was turned in me into corruption, and I retained no strength.
9 Et j’entendis la voix de ses paroles; et, en l’entendant, j’étais couché tout consterné sur ma face, et mon visage était collé à la terre.
Yet heard I the voice of his words; and when I heard the voice of his words, then was I fallen into a deep sleep on my face, with my face toward the ground.
10 Et voici qu’une main me toucha, et me dressa sur mes genoux et sur le plat de mes mains.
And, behold, a hand touched me, which set me tottering upon my knees and upon the palms of my hands.
11 Et la voix me dit: Daniel, homme de désirs, entends les paroles que je te dis, et tiens-loi sur tes pieds; car je suis maintenant envoyé vers toi. Et lorsqu’il m’eut dit ces paroles, je me tins debout tremblant.
And he said unto me: 'O Daniel, thou man greatly beloved, give heed unto the words that I speak unto thee, and stand upright; for now am I sent unto thee'; and when he had spoken this word unto me, I stood trembling.
12 Et il me dit: Ne crains pas, Daniel, parce que dès le premier jour où tu as appliqué ton cœur à comprendre, afin de t’affliger en présence de ton Dieu, les paroles ont été entendues; et je suis venu à cause de tes discours.
Then said he unto me: 'Fear not, Daniel; for from the first day that thou didst set thy heart to understand, and to humble thyself before thy God, thy words were heard; and I am come because of thy words.
13 Or le prince du royaume des Perses m’a résisté durant vingt et un jours: et voilà que Michel, un des premiers princes, est venu à mon secours, et moi, je suis demeuré là près du roi des Perses.
But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me one and twenty days; but, lo, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me; and I was left over there beside the kings of Persia.
14 Mais je suis venu afin de l’apprendre ce qui doit arriver à ton peuple dans les derniers jours; parce que la vision est encore pour ces jours.
Now I am come to make thee understand what shall befall thy people in the end of days; for there is yet a vision for the days.'
15 Et lorsqu’il me disait de telles paroles, j’abaissai mon visage contre terre, et je me tins en silence.
And when he had spoken unto me according to these words, I set my face toward the ground, and was dumb.
16 Et voici que comme la ressemblance du fils d’un homme toucha mes lèvres; et ouvrant ma bouche, je parlai et je dis à celui qui était debout vis-à-vis de moi: Mon Seigneur, à votre vue mes jointures se sont brisées, et il n’est rien resté en moi de mes forces.
And, behold, one like the similitude of the sons of men touched my lips; then I opened my mouth, and spoke and said unto him that stood before me: 'O my lord, by reason of the vision my pains are come upon me, and I retain no strength.
17 Et comment le serviteur de mon Seigneur pourra-t-il parler avec mon Seigneur? car il n’est rien resté en moi de mes forces, et même ma respiration est arrêtée.
For how can this servant of my lord talk with this my lord? for as for me, straightway there remained no strength in me, neither was there breath left in me.'
18 Et de nouveau donc, comme la vision d’un homme me toucha, et me fortifia,
Then there touched me again one like the appearance of a man, and he strengthened me.
19 Et dit: Ne crains pas, homme de désirs; paix à toi; prends courage et sois fort. Et comme il parlait avec moi, je pris des forces, et je dis: Parlez, mon Seigneur, parce que vous m’avez fortifié.
And he said: 'O man greatly beloved, fear not! peace be unto thee, be strong, yea, be strong.' And when he had spoken unto me, I was strengthened, and said: 'Let my lord speak; for thou hast strengthened me.'
20 Et il dit: Est-ce que tu sais pourquoi je suis venu vers toi? Et maintenant je m’en retournerai afin de combattre contre le prince des Perses; lorsque moi je sortais, le prince des Grecs a apparu venant vers moi.
Then said he: Knowest thou wherefore I come unto thee? and now will I return to fight with the prince of Persia; and when I go forth, lo, the prince of Greece shall come.
21 Mais cependant je t’annoncerai ce qui est exprimé dans une écriture de vérité; et il n’est personne qui m’aide en toutes ces choses, sinon Michel, votre prince.
Howbeit I will declare unto thee that which is inscribed in the writing of truth; and there is none that holdeth with me against these, except Michael your prince.
