Amos 4

1 Ecoutez cette parole, vaches grasses qui êtes sur la montagne de Samarie, qui opprimez les indigènes et qui écrasez les pauvres, qui dites à vos maîtres: Apportez, et nous boirons.

Hear this word, all of you cattle of Bashan, that are in the mountain of Samaria, which oppress the poor, which crush the needy, which say to their masters, Bring, and let us drink.

2 Le Seigneur Dieu a juré par sa sainteté, disant: Voici que des jours viendront sur vous, et on vous enlèvera avec des perches, et on jettera vos restes dans des chaudières bouillantes.

The Lord GOD has sworn by his holiness, that, lo, the days shall come upon you, that he will take you away with hooks, and your posterity with fishhooks.

3 Et vous sortirez par des ouvertures, l’une devant l’autre, et vous serez jetées en Armon, dit le Seigneur.

And all of you shall go out at the breaches, every cow at that which is before her; and all of you shall cast them into the palace, says the LORD.

4 Venez à Béthel, et agissez avec impiété; allez à Galgala et multipliez vos prévarications; et amenez dès le matin vos victimes, et tous les trois jours apportez vos dîmes.

Come to Bethel, and transgress; at Gilgal multiply transgression; and bring your sacrifices every morning, and your tithes after three years:

5 Et offrez avec du levain des sacrifices de louange; et proclamez et annoncez des oblations volontaires; car c’est ainsi que vous l’avez voulu, fils d’Israël, dit le Seigneur Dieu.

And offer a sacrifice of thanksgiving with leaven, and proclaim and publish the free offerings: for this likes you, O all of you children of Israel, says the Lord GOD.

6 De là moi aussi, je vous ai donné un engourdissement de dents dans toutes vos villes, et un manque de pains dans tout votre pays, et vous n’êtes pas revenus à moi, dit le Seigneur.

And I also have given you cleanness of teeth in all your cities, and lack of bread in all your places: yet have all of you not returned unto me, says the LORD.

7 Moi aussi, je vous ai refusé la pluie, lorsqu’il restait encore trois mois jusqu’à la moisson; et j’ai fait pleuvoir sur une cité, et sur une autre cité je n’ai pas fait pleuvoir; une partie n’a pas reçu de pluie, et une partie sur laquelle je n’ai pas fait pleuvoir a été desséchée.

And also I have withheld the rain from you, when there were yet three months to the harvest: and I caused it to rain upon one city, and caused it not to rain upon another city: one piece was rained upon, and the piece whereupon it rained not withered.

8 Et deux et trois cités sont venues vers une seule cité afin d’y boire de l’eau, et elles n’ont pas été désaltérées; et vous n’êtes pas revenus à moi, dit le Seigneur.

So two or three cities wandered unto one city, to drink water; but they were not satisfied: yet have all of you not returned unto me, says the LORD.

9 Je vous ai frappés d’un vent brûlant et de la nielle, et la chenille a dévoré la multitude de vos jardins et de vos vignes, et vos plants d’oliviers et vos plants de figuiers; et vous n’êtes pas revenus à moi, dit le Seigneur.

I have smitten you with blasting and mildew: when your gardens and your vineyards and your fig trees and your olive trees increased, the palmerworm devoured them: yet have all of you not returned unto me, says the LORD.

10 J’ai envoyé contre vous la mort sur la voie de l’Egypte; j’ai frappé par le glaive vos jeunes hommes; j’ai étendu la captivité jusque sur vos chevaux; j’ai fait monter l’infection de vos camps à vos narines; et vous n’êtes pas revenus à moi, dit le Seigneur.

I have sent among you the pestilence after the manner of Egypt: your young men have I slain with the sword, and have taken away your horses; and I have made the stink of your camps to come up unto your nostrils: yet have all of you not returned unto me, says the LORD.

11 Je vous ai détruits, comme le Seigneur a détruit Sodome et Gomorrhe; vous êtes devenus comme un tison arraché à un incendie; et vous n’êtes pas revenus à moi, dit le Seigneur.

I have overthrown some of you, as God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah, and all of you were as a firebrand plucked out of the burning: yet have all of you not returned unto me, says the LORD.

12 C’est pourquoi je te traiterai ainsi, ô Israël; et après que je t’aurai traité ainsi, prépare-toi à aller à la rencontre de ton Dieu, ô Israël.

Therefore thus will I do unto you, O Israel: and because I will do this unto you, prepare to meet your God, O Israel.

13 Parce que voici celui qui forme les montagnes et qui crée les vents, et qui annonce à l’homme sa parole, qui produit la nuée du matin, et qui marche sur les hauteurs de la terre; son nom est le Seigneur Dieu des armées.

For, lo, he that forms the mountains, and creates the wind, and declares unto man what is his thought, that makes the morning darkness, and treads upon the high places of the earth, The LORD, The God of hosts, is his name.
