Actes 1
1 J’ai fait mon premier récit, ô Théophile, sur tout ce que Jésus-Christ a fait et enseigné depuis le commencement,
In the former treatise (Deare frende Theophilus) I have written of all that Iesus beganne to do and teache
2 Jusqu’au jour où il fut enlevé au ciel, après avoir donné, par l’Esprit-Saint, ses commandements aux apôtres qu’il avait choisis,
vntyll the daye in the which he was taken vp after that he thorowe the holy goost had geven commaundementes vnto the Apostles which he had chosen:
3 Et auxquels, après sa passion, il se montra vivant par beaucoup de preuves, leur apparaissant pendant quarante jours, et leur parlant du royaume de Dieu.
to whom also he shewed him selfe alyve after his passion by many tokens apperynge vnto them fourty dayes and speakynge of the kyngdome of god
4 Ensuite, mangeant avec eux, il leur commanda de ne pas s’éloigner de Jérusalem, mais d’attendre la promesse du Père, que vous avez, dit-il, ouïe de ma bouche;
and gaddered them togeder and commaunded the that they shuld not departe from Ierusalem: but to wayte for ye promys of the father whereof ye have herde of me.
5 Car Jean a baptisé dans l’eau; mais vous, vous serez baptisés dans l’Esprit-Saint, sous peu de jours.
For Iohn baptised wt water: but ye shalbe baptised with the holy goost and that with in this feawe dayes.
6 Ceux donc qui se trouvaient là assemblés l’interrogaient disant: Seigneur, est-ce en ce temps que vous rétablirez le royaume d’Israël?
When they were come togeder they axed of him sayinge: Lorde wilt thou at this tyme restore agayne ye kyngdome to Israel?
7 Et il leur répondit: Ce n’est pas à vous de connaître les temps et les moments que le Père a réservés en sa puissance;
And he sayde vnto them: It is not for you to knowe the tymes or the seasons which ye father hath put in his awne power:
8 Mais vous recevrez la vertu de l’Esprit-Saint, qui viendra sur vous, et vous serez témoins pour moi, à Jérusalem, dans toute la Judée et la Samarie, et jusqu’aux extrémités de la terre.
but ye shall receave power of the holy goost which shall come on you. And ye shall be witnesses vnto me in Ierusalem and in all Iewrye and in Samary and even vnto the worldes ende.
9 Et quand il eut dit ces choses, eux le voyant, il s’éleva, et une nuée le déroba à leurs yeux.
And when he had spoken these thinges whyll they behelde he was take vp and a cloude receaved him vp out of their sight.
10 Et comme ils le regardaient allant au ciel, voilà que deux hommes se présentèrent devant eux, avec des vêtements blancs,
And while they looked stedfastly vp to heaven as he went beholde two men stode by them in white apparell
11 Et leur dirent: Hommes de Galilée, pourquoi vous tenez-vous là, regardant au ciel? Ce Jésus, qui du milieu de vous a été enlevé au ciel, viendra de la même manière que vous l’avez vu allant au ciel.
which also sayde: ye men of Galile why stonde ye gasinge vp into heave? This same Iesus which is taken vp fro you in to heaven shall so come even as ye haue sene him goo into heaven.
12 Alors ils retournèrent à Jérusalem, de la montagne qu’on appelle des Oliviers, et qui est près de Jérusalem, à la distance d’une journée de sabbat.
Then returned they vnto Ierusalem from mount olivete which is nye to Ierusalem coteyninge a Saboth dayes iorney.
13 Et lorsqu’ils furent entrés, ils montèrent dans le cénacle, où demeuraient Pierre et Jean, Jacques et André, Philippe et Thomas, Barthélemi et Matthieu, Jacques, fils d’Alphée, et Simon le Zélé, et Jude, frère de Jacques;
And when they were come in they went vp into a parler where abode both Peter and Iames Iohn and Andrew Philip and Thomas Bartlemew and Mathew Iames the sonne of Alpheus and Simo Zelotes and Iudas Iames sonne.
14 Tous ceux-ci persévéraient unanimement dans la prière, avec les femmes, et avec Marie, mère de Jésus, et avec ses frères.
These all cotinued with one acorde in prayer and supplicacion with the wemen and Mary the mother of Iesu and with his brethren.
15 En ces jours-là, Pierre se levant au milieu des frères (or le nombre des hommes réunis était d’environ cent vingt), dit:
And in those dayes Peter stode vp in the myddes of the disciples and sayde (the noumbre of names that were to gether were aboute an hondred and twenty)
16 Mes frères, il faut que s’accomplisse ce qu’a écrit et prédit l’Esprit-Saint par la bouche de David, touchant Judas, qui a été le guide de ceux qui ont pris Jésus:
Ye men and brethren this scripture must have nedes ben fulfilled which the holy goost thorow ye mouth of David spake before of Iudas which was gyde to them that tooke Iesus.
17 Qui était compté parmi nous, et avait reçu sa part au même ministère.
For he was noubred with vs and had obtayned fellouship in this ministracion.
18 Et il a acquis un champ du salaire de l’iniquité, et s’étant pendu, il a crevé par le milieu, et toutes ses entrailles se sont répandues.
And the same hath now possessed a plot of grounde with the rewarde of iniquite and when he was hanged brast a sondre in ye myddes and all his bowels gusshed oute.
19 Et cela a été connu de tous les habitants de Jérusalem, en sorte que ce champ a été appelé en leur langue, Haceldama, c’est-à-dire champ du sang.
And it is knowe vnto all the inhabiters of Ierusalem: in so moche that that felde is called in their mother tonge Acheldama that is to saye the bloud felde.
20 Car il est écrit au livre des Psaumes: Que leur demeure devienne déserte, et qu’il n’y ait personne qui l’habite, et que son épiscopat, un autre le reçoive.
It is written in the boke of Psalmes: His habitacio be voyde and no man be dwellinge therin: and his bisshoprycke let another take.
21 Il faut donc que de ceux qui se sont unis à nous pendant tout le temps où le Seigneur Jésus a vécu parmi nous,
Wherfore of these me which have copanyed with vs all ye tyme that the Lorde Iesus wet in and out amonge vs
22 À commencer du baptême de Jean, jusqu’au jour où il a été enlevé d’au milieu de nous, il y en ait un qui devienne témoin avec nous de sa résurrection.
begynninge at the baptyme of Iohn vnto that same daye that he was taken vp from vs must one be ordeyned to be are witnes with vs of his resurreccion.
23 Et ils en présentèrent deux, Joseph, qui s’appelait Barsabas, et qui a été surnommé le Juste, et Mathias.
And they appoynted two Ioseph called Barsabas (whose syr name was Iustus) and Mathias.
24 Et, priant, ils dirent: Vous, Seigneur, qui connaissez les cœurs de tous, montrez lequel vous avez choisi, de ces deux,
And they prayed sayinge: thou Lorde which knowest the hertes of all me shewe whether of these two thou hast chosen
25 Afin de prendre place dans ce ministère et cet apostolat, dans lequel Judas a prévariqué pour s’en aller en son lieu.
that the one maye take the roume of this ministracion and apostleshippe from the which Iudas by transgression fell that he myght go to his awne place.
26 Et ils leur distribuèrent les sorts, et le sort tomba sur Mathias, et il fut associé aux onze apôtres.
And they gave forthe their lottes and the lot fell on Mathias and he was counted with the eleven Apostles.
