2 Samuel 8

1 Or, il arriva après cela que [David battit les Philistins et les humilia; et David ôta le frein du tribut de la main des Philistins.

And it came to pass, after this, that David smote the Philistines, and subdued them, —and David took the bridle of the metropolis, out of the hand of the Philistines.

2 Il battit aussi Moab et les mesura au cordeau, les faisant coucher par terre; or, il en mesura deux cordeaux, l’un pour les tuer, l’autre pour leur conserver la vie; et Moab fut assujetti à David lui payant tribut.

And he smote Moab, and measured them with the line casting, them down to the ground, and be measured with two lines to put to death, and with one full line to keep alive, —so the Moabites became David’s, as servants, bringing gifts.

3 De plus, David battit Adarézer, fils de Rohob, roi de Soba, quand il partit pour dominer sur le fleuve d’Euphrate.

And David smote Hadadezer son of Rehob, king of Zobah, —when he went to lay his hand on the River Euphrates.

4 Et David, après lui avoir pris mille sept cents cavaliers et vingt mille hommes de pied, coupa les nerfs des jambes à tous les chevaux des chariots; mais il en laissa pour cent chariots.

And David captured from him, a thousand and seven hundred horsemen, and twenty thousand footmen, —and David destroyed all the chariots, but reserved of them, a hundred chariots.

5 Vint aussi la Syrie de Damas, pour porter secours à Adarézer, roi de Soba; et David tua vingt-deux mille hommes de la Syrie.

And, when the Syrians of Damascus came to help Hadadezer, king of Zobah, David smote of the Syrians, twenty-two thousand men.

6 Et David mit une garnison dans la Syrie de Damas; et la Syrie devint tributaire de David; et le Seigneur conserva David dans tous les lieux où il alla.

Then David put garrisons in Syria of Damascus, and the Syrians became David’s, as servants bringing gifts, —and so Yahweh gave victory unto David, whithersoever he went.

7 Et David enleva les armes d’or qu’avaient les serviteurs d’Adarézer, et les porta à Jérusalem.

And David took the shields of gold which had come to the servants of Hadadezer, —and brought them to Jerusalem;

8 Et de Beté et de Béroth, villes d’Adarézer, le roi David enleva une très grande quantité d’airain.

also, from Betah and from Berothai, cities of Hadadezer, did King David take bronze, exceeding much.

9 Or, Thoü, roi d’Emath, apprit que David avait battu toutes les forces d’Adarézer;

And, when Tou king of Hamath heard that David had smitten all the forces of Hadadezer,

10 Alors il envoya Joram son fils vers le roi David, pour le saluer, en le félicitant, et lui rendre grâce de ce qu’il avait vivement attaqué Adarézer, et l’avait battu; car Thoü était ennemi d’Adarézer; et dans la main de Joram étaient des vases d’or, des vases d’argent et des vases d’airain,

then Tou sent Hadoram his son unto King David, to ask after his welfare, and to bless him, because he had fought against Hadadezer and had smitten him, for Hadadezer had had wars with Tou, —and, in his hand, were vessels of silver, and vessels of gold, and vessels of bronze.

11 Que le roi David consacra aussi au Seigneur, avec l’argent et l’or qu’il avait consacrés de toutes les nations qu’il avait soumises,

Them also, did King David hallow unto Yahweh, —with the silver and the gold which he had hallowed from all the nations which he had subdued:

12 De la Syrie, de Moab, des enfants d’Ammon, des Philistins, d’Amalec et des dépouilles d’Adarézer, fils de Rohob, roi de Soba.

from Syria, and from Moab, and from the sons of Ammon, and from the Philistines, and from Amalek, —and from the spoil of Hadadezer son of Rehob, king of Zobah.

13 David se fit encore un nom, lorsque, la Syrie prise, il fut revenu dans la vallée des Salines, où il tailla en pièces dix-huit mille hommes.

And David made a name, when he returned from his smiting of the Syrians in the valley of salt, —eighteen thousand.

14 Et il mit des gardes dans l’Idumée, et il établit une garnison; et toute l’Idumée devint assujettie à David; et le Seigneur conserva David dans tous les lieux où il alla.

And he put, in Edom, garrisons, throughout all Edom, put be garrisons, and so it was that all Edom became servants unto David, —and Yahweh gave victory unto David, whithersoever he went.

15 Ainsi David régna sur tout Israël; il rendait aussi des jugements et la justice à tout son peuple.

And David reigned over all Israel, —and so it was that David used to execute justice and righteousness for all his people;

16 Mais Joab, fils de Sarvia, commandait l’armée, et Josaphat, fils d’Ahilud, tenait les registres;

and, Joab, son of Zeruiah, was over the army, —and, Jehoshaphat, son of Ahilud, was remembrancer.

17 Et Sadoc, fils d’Achitob, et Achimélech, fils d’Abiathar, étaient prêtres, et Saraïas, scribe;

And, Zadok, son of Ahitub, and Abimelech, son of Abiathar, were priests, —and, Seraiah, was scribe;

18 Mais Banaïas, fils de Joïada, commandait les Céréthiens et les Phéléthiens; mais les fils de David étaient prêtres.

and, Benaiah, son of Jehoiadah, was over the Cherethites and the Pelethites, —and, the sons of David, became, chief rulers.
