2 Samuel 6

1 Or, David rassembla de nouveau tous les hommes choisis d’Israël, au nombre de trente mille.

And David again gathered all the chosen men of Israel, thirty thousand.

2 Et David se leva et s’en alla, et tout le peuple qui était avec lui d’entre les hommes de Juda, pour amener l’arche de Dieu, sur laquelle fut invoqué le nom du Seigneur des armées, assis entre les chérubins au-dessus d’elle,

And David arose and went with all the people that were with him from Baale-Judah, to bring up from thence the ark of God which is called by the name, the name of Jehovah of hosts who sitteth between the cherubim.

3 Et ils mirent l’arche de Dieu sur un char neuf; et ils l’enlevèrent de la maison d’Abinadab, qui était à Gabaa; or, Oza et Ahio, fils d’Abinadab, conduisaient le char neuf.

And they set the ark of God upon a new cart, and brought it out of the house of Abinadab, which was upon the hill; and Uzzah and Ahio, the sons of Abinadab, drove the new cart.

4 Et lorsqu’ils l’eurent emportée de la maison d’Abinadab, qui était à Gabaa, gardant l’arche de Dieu, Ahio précédait l’arche.

And they brought it with the ark of God out of the house of Abinadab which was upon the hill; and Ahio went before the ark.

5 Mais David et tout Israël jouaient devant le Seigneur de toutes sortes d’instruments, des harpes, des lyres, des tambours, des sistres et des cymbales.

And David and all the house of Israel played before Jehovah on all manner of [instruments made of] cypress wood, with harps, and with lutes, and with tambours, and with sistra, and with cymbals.

6 Mais, après qu’ils furent venus à l’aire de Nachon, Oza étendit la main sur l’arche de Dieu et la retint, parce que les bœufs regimbaient et la firent pencher.

And when they came to Nachon's threshing-floor, Uzzah reached after the ark of God, and took hold of it; for the oxen had stumbled.

7 Et le Seigneur fut irrité d’indignation contre Oza, et le frappa à cause de sa témérité; et il mourut là auprès de l’arche de Dieu.

And the anger of Jehovah was kindled against Uzzah; and God smote him there for his error; and there he died by the ark of God.

8 Or, David fut contristé, parce que le Seigneur avait frappé Oza. Et ce lieu a été appelé du nom de Châtiment d’Oza jusqu’à ce jour.

And David was indignant, because Jehovah had made a breach upon Uzzah; and he called that place Perez-Uzzah to this day.

9 Et David craignit beaucoup le Seigneur en ce jour-là, disant: Comment entrera chez moi l’arche du Seigneur?

And David was afraid of Jehovah that day, and said, How shall the ark of Jehovah come to me?

10 Et il ne voulut pas faire venir chez lui l’arche du Seigneur dans la cité de David; mais il la fit venir dans la maison d’Obédédom, le Géthéen.

So David would not bring the ark of Jehovah home unto himself into the city of David; but David carried it aside into the house of Obed-Edom the Gittite.

11 Et l’arche du Seigneur demeura dans la maison d’Obédédom, le Géthéen, durant trois mois, et le Seigneur bénit Obédédom, et toute sa maison.

And the ark of Jehovah remained in the house of Obed-Edom the Gittite three months; and Jehovah blessed Obed-Edom and all his household.

12 Et l’on annonça au roi David que le Seigneur avait béni Obédédom et tout ce qui lui appartenait, à cause de l’arche de Dieu. David donc s’en alla, et amena l’arche de Dieu de la maison d’Obédédom en la cité de David avec joie; et David avait avec lui sept chœurs et un veau pour victime.

And it was told king David, saying, Jehovah has blessed the house of Obed-Edom, and all that is his, because of the ark of God. And David went and brought up the ark of God from the house of Obed-Edom into the city of David with joy.

13 Et lorsque ceux qui portaient l’arche du Seigneur avaient fait six pas, il immolait un bœuf et un bélier.

And it was so, that when they that bore the ark of Jehovah had gone six paces, he sacrificed an ox and a fatted beast.

14 Et David dansait de toutes ses forces devant le Seigneur; et il était ceint d’un éphod de lin.

And David danced before Jehovah with all his might; and David was girded with a linen ephod.

15 Et David et toute la maison d’Israël conduisaient l’arche du testament du Seigneur avec des cris de joie et au son de la trompette.

And David and all the house of Israel brought up the ark of Jehovah with shouting, and with the sound of the trumpet.

16 Et lorsque l’arche du Seigneur fut entrée dans la cité de David, Michol, fille de Saül, regardant par la fenêtre, vit le roi David sautillant et dansant devant le Seigneur; et elle le méprisa en son cœur,

And as the ark of Jehovah came into the city of David, Michal the daughter of Saul looked through a window, and saw king David leaping and dancing before Jehovah; and she despised him in her heart.

17 Et ils introduisirent l’arche du Seigneur, et ils la mirent en sa place, au milieu du tabernacle que David avait dressé; et David offrit des holocaustes et des sacrifices pacifiques devant le Seigneur.

And they brought in the ark of Jehovah, and set it in its place, in the midst of the tent that David had spread for it. And David offered up burnt-offerings and peace-offerings before Jehovah.

18 Et quand il eut achevé d’offrir les holocaustes et les sacrifices pacifiques, il bénit le peuple au nom du Seigneur des armées.

And when David had ended offering up the burnt-offerings and the peace-offerings, he blessed the people in the name of Jehovah of hosts.

19 Et il distribua à toute la multitude d’Israël, tant aux hommes qu’aux femmes, à chacun une galette de pain, et un morceau de viande de bœuf rôtie, et de la fleur de farine frite dans l’huile; et tout le peuple s’en alla, chacun en sa maison.

And he dealt to all the people, to the whole multitude of Israel, both men and women, to every one a cake of bread, and a measure [of wine], and a raisin-cake. And all the people departed every one to his house.

20 Et David s’en retourna pour bénir sa maison; et Michol, fille de Saül, étant sortie au-devant de David, dit: Qu’il a été glorieux aujourd’hui le roi d’Israël, se découvrant devant les servantes de ses serviteurs! car il s’est dépouillé, comme si un de ses bouffons se dépouillait.

And David returned to bless his household. And Michal the daughter of Saul came out to meet David, and said, How honourable did the king of Israel make himself to-day, who uncovered himself to-day in the eyes of the handmaids of his servants, as one of the lewd fellows shamelessly uncovers himself!

21 Et David répondit à Michol: Devant le Seigneur, qui m’a choisi plutôt que ton père et que toute ta maison, et qui m’a ordonné d’être chef sur le peuple du Seigneur en Israël,

And David said to Michal, It was before Jehovah, who chose me rather than thy father, and than all his house, to appoint me ruler over the people of Jehovah, over Israel; and I played before Jehovah.

22 Je jouerai, et je passerai pour plus vil que je n’ai passé; et je serai humble à mes yeux; et devant les servantes dont tu as parlé, je paraîtrai plus glorieux.

And I will make myself yet more vile than thus, and will be base in mine own sight; and of the handmaids that thou hast spoken of, of them shall I be had in honour.

23 Ainsi, il n’est point né de fils à Michol, fille de Saül, jusqu’au jour de sa mort.

And Michal the daughter of Saul had no child to the day of her death.
