2 Pierre 1
1 Simon Pierre, serviteur et apôtre de Jésus-Christ, à ceux qui ont reçu en partage la même foi que nous, par la justice de notre Dieu et Sauveur Jésus-Christ.
Simeon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to those who obtained an equally precious faith with us in the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ:
2 Que la grâce et la paix abondent en vous par la connaissance de Dieu et du Christ Jésus Notre Seigneur.
Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the acknowledgment of God and of Jesus our Lord!
3 Comme tout ce qui est de sa divine puissance par rapport à la vie et à la piété, nous a été donné par la connaissance de celui qui nous a appelés par sa propre gloire et sa propre vertu,
As His divine power has given to us all things pertaining to life and piety, through the acknowledgment of Him who called us through glory and virtue,
4 Et par qui il a accompli les grandes et précieuses promesses, afin que par elles nous devinssions participants de la nature divine, en fuyant la corruption de la concupiscence qui est dans le monde;
through which the most great and precious promises have been given to us, that through these you may become partakers of a divine nature, having escaped from the corruption [and] lust in the world.
5 Apportez aussi tous vos soins pour joindre à votre foi la vertu; à la vertu, la science.
And [for] this same [reason] also, having brought in all diligence, supplement your faith with virtue, and with virtue—knowledge,
6 À la science, la tempérance; à la tempérance, la patience; à la patience, la piété;
and with knowledge—self-control, and with self-control—endurance, and with endurance—piety,
7 À la piété, l’amour de vos frères; à l’amour de vos frères, la charité.
and with piety—brotherly kindness, and with brotherly kindness—love;
8 Car si ces choses sont en vous et y dominent, elles feront que vous ne serez pas dépourvus et sans fruit dans la connaissance de Notre Seigneur Jésus-Christ.
for these things being in you and abounding, make [you] neither inert nor unfruitful in regard to the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ,
9 Mais celui en qui elles ne se trouvent pas, est aveugle et marche à tâtons, oubliant qu’il a été purifié de ses anciens péchés.
for he with whom these things are not present is blind, dim-sighted, having become forgetful of the cleansing of his old sins;
10 C’est pourquoi, mes frères, appliquez-vous davantage à rendre certaines par vos bonnes œuvres votre vocation et votre élection; car agissant ainsi, vous ne pécherez jamais.
therefore, rather, brothers, be diligent to make steadfast your calling and [divine] selection, for doing these things you may never stumble;
11 Et par ce moyen, vous sera largement donnée l’entrée au royaume éternel de Notre Seigneur Jésus-Christ. (aiōnios g166)
in this way the entrance into the continuous kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ will be richly supplemented to you. (aiōnios g166)
12 C’est pourquoi j’aurai soin de vous avertir toujours de ces choses, bien que vous les sachiez, et soyez confirmés dans la vérité dont je vous parle présentement;
Therefore, I will always be ready to remind you about these things, although you have known [them] and have been established in the present truth,
13 Car je crois qu’il est juste que pendant que je suis dans cette tente, je vous ranime par cet avertissement;
and I think right, so long as I am in this tent, to stir you up in reminding [you],
14 Certain que bientôt se fera l’enlèvement de ma tente, comme Notre Seigneur Jésus-Christ me l’a signifié.
having known that the laying aside of my tent is soon, even as our Lord Jesus Christ also showed to me.
15 Mais j’aurai soin que vous puissiez souvent, même après ma mort, vous rappeler le souvenir de ces choses.
And I will also be diligent [to ensure] that you always have a remembrance to make of these things after my departure.
16 En effet, ce n’est point en vous attachant à d’ingénieuses fictions, que nous vous avons fait connaître la puissance et l’avènement de Notre Seigneur Jésus-Christ; mais c’est après avoir été les spectateurs de sa majesté.
For having not followed out skillfully devised fables, we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but having become eyewitnesses of His majesty—
17 Car il reçut de Dieu le Père, honneur et gloire, lorsque descendant de la gloire magnifique, vint à lui cette voix: Celui-ci est mon Fils bien-aimé en qui j’ai mis mes complaisances: écoutez-le.
for having received honor and glory from God the Father, such a voice being borne to Him by the Excellent Glory: “This is My Son, the Beloved, in whom I delighted”;
18 Et cette voix apportée du ciel, nous l’avons entendue nous-mêmes, lorsque nous étions avec lui sur la montagne sainte.
and we heard this voice borne out of Heaven, being with Him at the holy mountain.
19 Et nous avons la parole plus ferme des prophètes, à laquelle vous faites bien d’être attentifs, comme à une lampe qui luit dans un lieu obscur, jusqu’à ce que le jour brille, et que l’étoile du matin se lève dans vos cœurs;
And we have a more firm prophetic word, to which we do well giving heed, as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until day may dawn, and [the] morning star may arise in your hearts;
20 Sachant avant tout que nulle prophétie de l’Écriture ne s’explique par une interprétation particulière.
knowing this first, that no prophecy of the Writing comes of private exposition,
21 Car ce n’est pas par la volonté des hommes que la prophétie a jamais été apportée; mais c’est inspirés par l’Esprit-Saint, qu’ont parlé les saints hommes de Dieu.
for prophecy never came by [the] will of man, but men spoke from God, being brought by the Holy Spirit.
