1 Or Élisée parla à cette femme dont il avait ressuscité le fils, disant: Lève-toi, va, toi et ta maison, et fais ton séjour partout où tu trouveras; car le Seigneur a appelé la famine, et elle viendra sur la terre pendant sept ans.

And Elisha had spoken to the woman whose son he had restored to life, saying, Rise up and go, thou and thy household, and sojourn wheresoever thou canst sojourn; for Jehovah has called for a famine, and it shall also come upon the land for seven years.

2 Cette femme se leva, et fit selon la parole de l’homme de Dieu, et, s’en allant avec sa maison, elle séjourna dans la terre des Philistins durant un grand nombre de jours.

And the woman rose up, and did according to the saying of the man of God, and went, she and her household, and sojourned in the land of the Philistines seven years.

3 Et lorsque les sept années de famine furent passées, cette femme revint de la terre des Philistins; et elle sortit pour réclamer auprès du roi sa maison et ses champs.

And it came to pass at the seven years' end, that the woman returned out of the land of the Philistines; and she went forth to cry to the king for her house and for her land.

4 Le roi alors parlait avec Giézi, serviteur de l’homme de Dieu, disant: Raconte-moi toutes les grandes œuvres qu’a faites Élisée.

And the king was talking with Gehazi, the servant of the man of God, saying, Tell me, I pray thee, all the great things that Elisha has done.

5 Et comme Giézi racontait au roi de quelle manière il avait ressuscité le mort, parut la femme dont il avait ressuscité le fils, réclamant auprès du roi sa maison et ses champs. Et Giézi dit: Mon seigneurie roi, c’est cette femme, et c’est son fils qu’a ressuscité Élisée.

And it came to pass as he was telling the king how he had restored a dead body to life, that behold, the woman whose son he had restored to life cried to the king for her house and for her land. And Gehazi said, My lord, O king, this is the woman, and this is her son, whom Elisha restored to life.

6 Et le roi interrogea la femme, qui lui raconta tout; et le roi lui donna un eunuque, disant: Fais-lui rendre tout ce qui est à elle, et tous les revenus des champs, depuis le jour qu’elle a quitté le pays jusqu’à présent.

And the king asked the woman, and she told him. And the king appointed a certain chamberlain, saying, Restore all that was hers, and all the revenue of the land since the day that she left the country even until now.

7 Élisée vint aussi à Damas; et Bénadad, roi de Syrie, était malade, et ses serviteurs lui annoncèrent l’arrivée du prophète, disant: L’homme de Dieu est venu ici.

And Elisha came to Damascus; and Ben-Hadad the king of Syria was sick; and it was told him saying, The man of God is come hither.

8 Et le roi dit à Hazaël: Prends avec toi des présents, et va à la rencontre de l’homme de Dieu, et consulte par lui le Seigneur, disant: Si je pourrai échapper de cette maladie.

And the king said to Hazael, Take a present in thy hand, and go, meet the man of God, and inquire of Jehovah by him, saying, Shall I recover from this disease?

9 Hazaël alla donc à la rencontre de l’homme de Dieu, ayant avec lui des présents et de toutes les bonnes choses de Damas, la charge de quarante chameaux. Et, lorsqu’il se fut présenté devant Élisée, il dit: Ton fils Bénadad, roi de Syrie, m’a envoyé vers toi, disant: Si je pourrai être guéri de cette maladie.

And Hazael went to meet him, and took with him a present, even of every good thing of Damascus, forty camels' burden; and he came and stood before him, and said, Thy son Ben-Hadad king of Syria has sent me to thee, saying, Shall I recover from this disease?

10 Et Élisée lui répondit: Va, dis-lui: Vous guérirez; mais le Seigneur m’a montré qu’il mourra de mort,

And Elisha said to him, Go, say to him, Thou wilt certainly recover. But Jehovah has shewn me that he shall certainly die.

11 Et il s’arrêta avec lui, et il se troubla tellement que son visage rougit; et l’homme de Dieu pleura.

And he settled his countenance stedfastly, until he was ashamed; and the man of God wept.

12 Hazaël lui demanda: Pourquoi mon seigneur pleure-t-il? Et Élisée lui répondit: Parce que je sais quels maux tu dois faire aux enfants d’Israël. Tu mettras à feu leurs villes fortifiées, tu tueras par le glaive leurs jeunes hommes, tu écraseras leurs enfants, et tu couperas en deux leurs femmes enceintes.

And Hazael said, Why does my lord weep? And he said, Because I know the evil that thou wilt do to the children of Israel: their strongholds wilt thou set on fire, and their young men wilt thou kill with the sword, and wilt dash in pieces their children, and rip up their women with child.

13 Hazaël dit: Qui suis-je donc, moi ton serviteur, un chien, pour faire cette grande chose? Et Élisée répondit: Le Seigneur m’a fait voir que tu seras roi de Syrie.

And Hazael said, But what, is thy servant a dog, that he should do this great thing? And Elisha said, Jehovah has shewn me that thou wilt be king over Syria.

14 Lorsque Hazaël se fut retiré d’auprès d’Élisée, il vint vers son maître, qui lui demanda: Que t’a dit Élisée? Et celui-ci répondit: Il m’a dit que vous recouvrerez la santé.

And he departed from Elisha, and came to his master, who said to him, What did Elisha say to thee? And he said, He told me [that] thou wouldest certainly recover.

15 Et lorsque vint le jour suivant, il prit la couverture du lit, il la trempa dans l’eau, et il retendit sur la face du roi; et, le roi mort, Hazaël régna en sa place.

And it came to pass the next day, that he took the coverlet and dipped [it] in water, and spread it over his face, so that he died; and Hazael reigned in his stead.

16 La cinquième année de Joram, fils d’Achab, roi d’Israël, et de Josaphat, roi de Juda, Joram, fils de Josaphat, régna sur Juda.

And in the fifth year of Joram the son of Ahab, king of Israel, Jehoshaphat being then king of Judah, Jehoram the son of Jehoshaphat, king of Judah, began to reign.

17 Il avait trente-deux ans lorsqu’il commença à régner, et il régna huit ans dans Jérusalem.

He was thirty-two years old when he began to reign; and he reigned eight years in Jerusalem.

18 Et il marcha dans les voies des rois d’Israël, comme y avait marché la maison d’Achab; car sa femme était fille d’Achab; et il fit ce qui est mal en la présence du Seigneur.

And he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, as did the house of Ahab, for the daughter of Ahab was his wife; and he did evil in the sight of Jehovah.

19 Or le Seigneur ne voulut pas perdre Juda, à cause de David, son serviteur, puisqu’il lui avait promis qu’il lui donnerait une lampe, à lui et à ses fils, tous les jours.

But Jehovah would not destroy Judah, for David his servant's sake, as he had promised him to give him always a lamp for his sons.

20 Durant les jours de Joram, Edom se retira, pour ne pas être sous Juda, et s’établit un roi.

In his days Edom revolted from under the hand of Judah, and they set a king over themselves.

21 Et Joram vint à Séira et tous ses chariots avec lui, et il se leva pendant la nuit, et battit les Iduméens qui l’avaient environné, et ceux qui commandaient leurs chariots; et le peuple s’enfuit dans ses tabernacles.

And Joram went over to Zair, and all the chariots with him; and he rose up by night, and smote the Edomites who had surrounded him, and the captains of the chariots; and the people fled into their tents.

22 Edom se retira donc, pour ne pas être sous Juda, jusqu’à ce jour. D’après cela Lobna se retira en ce temps-là.

But the Edomites revolted from under the hand of Judah unto this day. Then Libnah revolted at the same time.

23 Quand au reste des actions de Joram, et tout ce qu’il a fait, n’est-ce pas écrit dans le Livre des actions des jours des rois de Juda?

And the rest of the acts of Joram and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?

24 Et Joram dormit avec ses pères, et il fut enseveli avec eux dans la cité de David, et Ochozias, son fils, régna en sa place.

And Joram slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David; and Ahaziah his son reigned in his stead.

25 La douzième année de Joram, fils d’Achab, roi d’Israël, régna Ochozias, fils de Joram, roi de Juda.

In the twelfth year of Joram the son of Ahab, king of Israel, Ahaziah the son of Jehoram, king of Judah, began to reign.

26 Ochozias avait vingt-deux ans quand il commença à régner, et il régna un an dans Jérusalem: le nom de sa mère était Athalie, fille d’Amri, roi d’Israël.

Ahaziah was twenty-two years old when he began to reign; and he reigned one year in Jerusalem; and his mother's name was Athaliah, the daughter of Omri king of Israel.

27 Et il marcha dans les voies de la maison d’Achab, et il fit ce qui est mal devant le Seigneur, comme la maison d’Achab; car il fut gendre de la maison d’Achab.

And he walked in the way of the house of Ahab, and did evil in the sight of Jehovah, like the house of Ahab; for he was the son-in-law of the house of Ahab.

28 Il alla aussi avec Joram, fils d’Achab, pour combattre contre Hazaël, roi de Syrie, à Ramoth-Galaad; et les Syriens blessèrent Joram,

And he went with Joram the son of Ahab to the war against Hazael the king of Syria at Ramoth-Gilead; and the Syrians wounded Joram.

29 Qui revint à Jezrahel pour être guéri, parce que les Syriens l’avaient blessé à Ramoth, lorsqu’il combattait contre Hazaël, roi de Syrie. Or Ochozias, fils de Joram, roi de Juda, descendit pour voir Joram, fils d’Achab, à Jezrahel, parce qu’il y était malade.

And king Joram returned to be healed in Jizreel of the wounds that the Syrians had given him at Ramah, when he fought with Hazael king of Syria. And Ahaziah the son of Jehoram, king of Judah, went down to see Joram the son of Ahab at Jizreel, for he was sick.
