1 Manassé avait douze ans lorsqu’il commença à régner, et il régna cinquante-cinq ans dans Jérusalem: le nom de sa mère était Haphsiba.
Twelve years old was Menasseh when he became king, and fifty and five years did he reign in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Chephzi-bah.
2 Et il fit le mal devant le Seigneur, selon le culte des idoles des nations que le Seigneur avait exterminées à la face des enfants d’Israël.
And he did what is evil in the eyes of the Lord, after the abominable acts of the nations whom the Lord had driven out before the children of Israel.
3 Et il en revint à bâtir les hauts lieux qu’avait détruits Ezéchias son père, il dressa des autels à Baal; il fit planter des bois sacrés, comme avait fait Achab, roi d’Israël; il adora toute la milice du ciel, et la servit.
And he built up again the high-places which Hezekiah his father had destroyed; and he reared up altars for Ba'al, and made a grove, as Achab the king of Israel had done; and he bowed down to all the host of heaven, and served them.
4 Il construisit aussi des autels dans la maison du Seigneur, de laquelle le Seigneur avait dit: C’est dans Jérusalem que j’établirai mon nom.
And he built altars in the house of the Lord, of which the Lord had said, In Jerusalem will I put my name.
5 Et il construisit des autels à toute la milice du ciel dans les deux parvis du temple du Seigneur.
And he built altars for all the host of heaven in the two courts of the house of the Lord.
6 Et il fit passer son fils par le feu, il aima les divinations, observa les augures, et établit des pythoniens et multiplia les aruspices, pour faire le mal devant le Seigneur, et l’irriter.
And he caused his son to pass through the fire, and observed times, and used enchantments, and dealt with familiar spirits and wizards: he wrought much that is evil in the eyes of the Lord, to provoke him to anger.
7 Il mit aussi l’idole du bois sacré qu’il avait planté, dans le temple du Seigneur, dont le Seigneur avait dit à David et à Salomon, son fils: C’est dans ce temple, et dans Jérusalem, que j’ai choisie d’entre toutes les tribus d’Israël, que j’établirai mon nom pour jamais.
And he set a hewn image of the Asherah that he had made in the house, of which the Lord had said to David, and to Solomon his son, In this house, and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen out of all tribes of Israel, will I put my name for ever:
8 Et je ne ferai plus que le pied d’Israël se meuve dehors de la terre que j’ai donnée à leurs pères; si cependant ils mettent à exécution tout ce que je leur ai ordonné, et la loi tout entière que leur a prescrite mon serviteur Moïse.
And I will not cause any more the foot of Israel to move out of the land which I gave their fathers; only if they will observe to act in accordance with all that I have commanded them, and in accordance with all the law that my servant Moses commanded them.
9 Or eux n’ont point écouté; mais ils ont été séduits par Manassé, pour faire le mal plus que les nations qu’a brisées le Seigneur à a face des enfants d’Israël.
But they hearkened not: and Menasseh seduced them to do what is evil more than the nations whom the Lord had destroyed before the children of Israel.
10 Le Seigneur a parlé ensuite par l’entremise de ses serviteurs, les prophètes, disant:
And the Lord spoke by means of his servants the prophets, saying,
11 Parce que Manassé, roi de Juda, a fait ces abominations, bien plus mauvaises que tout ce qu’ont fait les Amorrhéens avant lui, et qu’il a fait pécher même Juda par ses impuretés,
Forasmuch as Menasseh the king of Judah hath done these abominations, having done wickedly more than all that the Emorites had done, who were before him, and hath induced Judah also to sin with his idols:
12 C’est pourquoi le Seigneur Dieu d’Israël, dit ceci: Voilà que moi j’amènerai des maux sur Jérusalem et sur Juda; en sorte que quiconque les entendra, ses deux oreilles tinteront.
Therefore thus hath said the Lord the God of Israel, Behold, I will bring evil upon Jerusalem and Judah, at which both the ears of every one that heareth it shall tingle.
13 J’étendrai sur Jérusalem le cordeau de Samarie, et le poids de la maison d’Achab, et j’effacerai Jérusalem comme on a coutume d’effacer les tablettes; et en l’effaçant, je tournerai et passerai souvent le style sur sa face.
And I will stretch over Jerusalem the measure-line of Samaria, and the plummet of the house of Achab: and I will wipe off Jerusalem as one wipeth off a dish, wiping it, and turning it on its face.
14 Et j’abandonnerai les restes de mon héritage, et je les livrerai aux mains de leurs ennemis, et ils seront un objet de ravage et de rapine pour tous ceux qui les haïssent,
And I will forsake the remnant of my inheritance, and give them up into the hand of their enemies; and they shall become a prey and a spoil to all their enemies;
15 Parce qu’ils ont fait le mal devant moi, et qu’ils ont continué à m’irriter, depuis le jour que leurs pères sortirent de l’Egypte, jusqu’à ce jour.
Forasmuch as they have done what is evil in my eyes, and have been provoking me to anger, from the day that their fathers came forth out of Egypt, even until this day.
16 De plus, Manassé répandit même une quantité prodigieuse de sang innocent, au point d’en remplir Jérusalem jusqu’à la bouche, outre les péchés par lesquels il fit pécher Juda, pour faire le mal devant le Seigneur.
And also innocent blood did Menasseh shed in very great abundance, till he had filled [therewith] Jerusalem from one end to another; beside his sin wherewith he induced Judah to sin, to do what is evil in the eyes of the Lord.
17 Mais le reste des actions de Manassé et tout ce qu’il a fait, et le péché qu’il a commis, n’est-ce pas écrit dans le Livre des actions des jours des rois de Juda?
Now the rest of the acts of Menasseh, and all that he did, and his sin that he committed, behold, they are written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah.
18 Et Manassé dormit avec ses pères, et il fut enseveli dans le jardin de sa maison, dans le jardin d’Oza; et Amon, son fils, régna en sa place.
And Menasseh slept with his fathers, and was buried in the garden of his own house, in the garden of 'Uzza: and Amon his son became king in his stead.
19 Amon avait vingt-deux ans lorsqu’il commença à régner; il régna aussi deux ans à Jérusalem: le nom de sa mère était Messalémeth, fille de Harus de Jétéba.
Twenty and two years old was Amon when he became king, and two years did he reign in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Meshullemeth, the daughter of Charuz of Yotbah.
20 Et il fit le mal en la présence du Seigneur, comme avait fait Manassé, son père.
And he did what is evil in the eyes of the Lord, as his father Menasseh had done.
21 Et il marcha dans toutes les voies par lesquelles avait marché son père; il servit les impuretés qu’avait servies son père, et il les adora,
And he walked in all the way that his father had walked in, and served the idols that his father had served, and bowed himself down to them;
22 Et il abandonna le Seigneur Dieu de ses pères, et il ne marcha pas dans la voie du Seigneur;
And he forsook the Lord the God of his fathers, and walked not in the way of the Lord.
23 Et ses serviteurs lui dressèrent des embûches, et tuèrent le roi dans sa maison.
And the servants of Amon conspired against him, and put the king to death in his own house.
24 Mais le peuple tua tous ceux qui avaient conspiré contre le roi Amon, et ils établirent pour leur roi, Josias, son fils, en sa place.
And the people of the land slew all those that had conspired against king Amon; and the people of the land made Josiah his son king in his stead.
25 Mais le reste des actions que fit Amon, n’est-il pas écrit dans le Livre des actions des jours des rois de Juda?
Now the rest of the acts of Amon which he did, behold, they are written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah.
26 On l’ensevelit en son sépulcre dans le jardin d’Oza; et Josias, son fils, régna en sa place.
And they buried him in his sepulchre in the garden of 'Uzza: and Josiah his son became king in his stead.
