2 Corinthiens 1

1 Paul, apôtre de Jésus-Christ, par la volonté de Dieu, et Timothée, son frère, à l’Eglise de Dieu qui est à Corinthe, et à tous les saints qui sont dans toute l’Achaïe.

Paul, the apostle of Jesus Christ through the will of God, and brother Timothy, to the church of God which is at Corinth, along with all the saints who are in all Achaia:

2 Grâce à vous, et paix par Dieu notre Père, et par Notre Seigneur Jésus-Christ.

Grace to you and peace from God our Father and our Lord Jesus Christ.

3 Béni le Dieu et Père de Notre Seigneur Jésus-Christ, le Père des miséricordes et le Dieu de toute consolation!

Blessed is the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and the God of all consolation;

4 Qui nous console dans toutes nos afflictions, afin que nous puissions nous-mêmes, par l’encouragement que Dieu nous donne, consoler aussi ceux qui sont sous le poids de toute sorte de maux.

the one comforting us in all our tribulation, in order that we may be able to comfort those in all tribulation, through the consolation with which we ourselves are comforted of God,

5 Car, comme les souffrances du Christ abondent en nous, c’est aussi par le Christ que notre consolation abonde.

because as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation through Christ also abounds.

6 Or si nous sommes dans l’affliction, c’est pour votre encouragement et votre salut; si nous sommes consolés, c’est pour votre consolation; si nous sommes encouragés, c’est pour votre encouragement et votre salut qui s’accomplit par votre patience à supporter les mêmes souffrances que nous supportons nous-mêmes.

But if we are troubled it is in behalf of your consolation and salvation; if we are comforted, it is in behalf of your consolation, working in you through the endurance of the same sufferings which we also suffer.

7 Ce qui nous donne une ferme espérance pour vous, sachant que, comme vous avez part aux souffrances, vous l’aurez aussi à la consolation.

And our hope is stedfast in your behalf; knowing that, as you are the partakers of the sufferings, so you are also of the consolation.

8 Car nous ne voulons pas, mes frères, que vous ignoriez, touchant la tribulation qui nous est survenue en Asie, que le poids en a été excessif et au-dessus de nos forces, au point que nous étions las de vivre.

For we do not wish you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning our affliction taking place in Asia, because we were burthened exceedingly, above our power, so that we despaired even of living:

9 Mais nous, nous avons reçu en nous-mêmes l’arrêt de la mort, afin que nous ne mettions pas notre confiance en nous, mais en Dieu qui ressuscite les morts,

but we had the answer of death in ourselves, in order that we might not trust in ourselves, but in God who raised the dead:

10 Qui nous a délivrés de si grands périls, qui nous en délivre, et qui, comme nous l’espérons de lui, nous en délivrera encore,

who delivered us from so great a death, and will deliver: in whom he have hope that he will also yet deliver;

11 Surtout vous nous aidant en priant pour nous, afin que, comme le don qui est en nous a été fait en considération d’un grand nombre, un grand nombre en rende grâces pour nous.

you also cooperating in our behalf in prayer; in order that, the gift which is bestowed upon us from many persons, may through many be a source of thanks given in our behalf.

12 Car notre gloire, la voici: Le témoignage de notre conscience, que c’est dans la simplicité du cœur et dans la sincérité de Dieu, et non point selon la sagesse de la chair, mais avec la grâce de Dieu, que nous nous sommes conduits dans ce monde, mais plus particulièrement envers vous.

For our boasting is this, the testimony of our conscience, that in holiness and purity of God, not in carnal wisdom, but in the grace of God, we have sojourned in the world, and especially towards you.

13 En effet, nous ne vous écrivons que les choses que vous avez lues et reconnues. Or j’espère que vous reconnaîtrez jusqu’à la fin,

For we do not write other things to you, but those things which you read and know, and I hope that you will know them perfectly:

14 Comme vous l’avez reconnu en partie, que nous sommes votre gloire, de même que vous serez la nôtre au jour de Notre Seigneur Jésus-Christ.

as you have also known us in part, because we are your glorying, as you ours in the day of the Lord Jesus.

15 C’est dans cette confiance que je voulais venir d’abord vous voir, pour que vous reçussiez une seconde grâce;

And in this confidence I wished to come unto you sooner, that you may have a second grace;

16 Passer par chez vous en allant en Macédoine, et revenir de Macédoine près de vous, et par vous être conduit en Judée.

and through you to go unto Macedonia, and again from Macedonia to come to you, and by you to be sent forward into Judea.

17 Ayant donc eu ce dessein, ai-je été inconstant? ou bien, ce que je projette, le projetai-je selon la chair, de sorte qu’en moi il y ait OUI et NON?

Then wishing this, whether did I use lightness of purpose? or the things which I counsel, do I counsel according to the flesh, in order that it may be with me yes yes and no no?

18 Mais Dieu est fidèle témoin que la parole que nous vous avons annoncée n’a point été dans ce OUI et NON.

But God is faithful, that our word which is to you is not yes and no.

19 Car le fils de Dieu, Jésus-Christ, que nous vous avons prêché, moi, Silvain et Timothée, ne fut point oui et non; mais oui fut seul en lui.

For Christ Jesus, the Son of God, the one being preached by us, through me and Silvanus and Timothy, was not yes and no, but it was yes in him.

20 En effet, toutes les promesses quelconques de Dieu sont en lui le oui; c’est pourquoi nous disons aussi par lui Amen à Dieu pour notre gloire.

For so many promises of God, in Him are yes; therefore indeed through him they are Amen unto the glory to God through us.

21 Or celui qui nous affermit avec vous dans le Christ, et qui nous a oints, c’est Dieu,

But the one confirming us along with you unto Christ, and having anointed us, is God.

22 Qui nous a aussi marqués de son sceau, et a donné le gage de l’Esprit dans nos cœurs.

Who also having sealed us, and given us the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts.

23 Pour moi, je prends Dieu à témoin sur mon âme, que c’est pour vous épargner, que je ne suis point encore venu à Corinthe;

But I call God to witness to my soul, that sparing you I did not yet come into Corinth:

24 ce n’est pas que nous dominions sur votre foi; au contraire, nous coopérons à votre joie, car vous êtes fermes dans la foi.

not that we domineer over your faith, but we are fellow-workers of your joy: for by faith you stand.
