2 Corinthiens 5

1 En effet, nous savons que si cette maison de terre que nous habitons présentement se dissout, nous avons une autre maison construite par Dieu, non par la main des hommes, et éternelle dans les cieux. (aiōnios g166)

For I know, if this earthly tent of mine were struck, I have a mansion built by God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. (aiōnios g166)

2 Et pour cela nous gémissons, désirant d’être revêtus de notre habitation qui est du ciel;

For in this tent I am groaning, earnestly longing to be under the cover of my heavenly habitation; if so be that being so covered,

3 Si toutefois nous sommes trouvés vêtus, et non pas nus.

I shall not be found naked.

4 Car, pendant que nous sommes dans cette tente, nous gémissons tous sous sa pesanteur, parce que nous ne voulons pas être dépouillés, mais revêtus par-dessus, en sorte que ce qu’il y a de mortel soit absorbé par la vie.

For in this tent of mine I am groaning in deep trouble; not that I wish to be unclothed, but to be clothed upon, that what is mortal may be swallowed up in life.

5 Or celui qui nous a formés pour cet état même, c’est Dieu, qui nous a donné le gage de l’Esprit

And He who has wrought me out for this very end is God, who has given me his Spirit as pledge.

6 Ainsi, toujours pleins de confiance, sachant que, pendant que nous sommes dans ce corps, nous voyageons loin du Seigneur

Therefore I am always of good courage, because I well know that while I am at home in the body, I am in banishment from the Lord,

7 (Car c’est par la foi que nous marchons, et non par une claire vue);

for I am walking by faith, not by sight.

8 Oui, pleins de confiance, nous aimons mieux sortir de ce corps, et aller jouir de la présence du Seigneur.

So I have good courage, and am well pleased rather, to be in banishment from the body and to be at home with the Lord.

9 C’est pourquoi, soit absents, soit présents, nous faisons tous nos efforts pour lui plaire.

And for this reason I also make it home with the Lord.

10 Car nous devons tous comparaître devant le tribunal du Christ, afin que chacun reçoive ce qui est dû à son corps, selon ce qu’il a fait ou de bien ou de mal.

For we must all be made manifest, in our true characters, before the Judgment-seat of Christ; so that each one may receive according to that which he has done in his body, whether good or evil.

11 Sachant donc combien le Seigneur est redoutable, nous tâchons de persuader les hommes, mais nous sommes connus de Dieu. Or j’espère que nous sommes aussi connus dans vos consciences.

So, because I know the fear of God, I "persuade men." What I am is manifest to God, and I hope manifest also to your conscience.

12 Nous ne nous recommandons pas de nouveau auprès de vous, mais nous vous donnons occasion de vous glorifier à notre sujet, afin que vous ayez quoi répondre à ceux qui se glorifient en apparence, mais non dans le cœur.

I am not "commending myself to you again," but I am giving you an occasion of boasting on my behalf, so that you may have an answer ready for those who boast in externals, and not in the heart.

13 Car si nous sommes emportés comme hors de nous-mêmes, c’est pour Dieu; si nous sommes plus retenus, c’est pour vous.

For if I was "beside myself," it was to God; of if I am now "of sound mind," it is for you.

14 Parce que la charité du Christ nous presse; considérant que si un seul est mort pour tous, donc tous sont morts;

For the love of Christ overmasters me; because I thus judge that if One has died for all, then all have died;

15 Et le Christ est mort pour tous, afin que ceux qui vivent ne vivent plus pour eux, mais pour celui qui est mort pour eux, et est ressuscité.

and that he died for all in order that the living may live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died and rose again for them.

16 C’est pourquoi, dès ce moment, nous ne connaissons plus personne selon la chair. Et si nous avons connu le Christ selon la chair, maintenant nous ne le connaissons plus ainsi.

Therefore henceforth I know no one simply as a man - even if I have known Christ as a man, yet now I do so no longer.

17 Si donc quelqu’un est en Jésus-Christ, il est une créature nouvelle; les choses anciennes ont passé: voilà que tout est devenu nouveau.

So there is a new creation when any man is in Christ. The old life has passed away, behold, the new is come.

18 Et le tout vient de Dieu, qui nous a réconciliés à lui par le Christ, et nous a confié le ministère de la réconciliation;

And all this is from God, who through Christ reconciled me to himself, and gave me the ministry of reconciliation;

19 Car c’est Dieu qui était dans le Christ, se réconciliant le monde, ne leur imputant point leurs péchés, et qui a mis en nous la parole de la réconciliation.

how that God was in Christ reconciling a world to himself, not reckoning to men their trespasses; and that to me he has entrusted the message of that reconciliation.

20 Nous faisons donc les fonctions d’ambassadeurs pour le Christ, Dieu exhortant par notre bouche. Nous vous en conjurons par le Christ, réconciliez-vous à Dieu.

On Christ’s behalf, then, I come as ambassador. It is as though God was entreating you, through me, on Christ’s behalf I beg you to be reconciled to God.

21 Car celui qui ne connaissait point le péché, il l’a rendu péché pour l’amour de nous, afin qu’en lui nous devinssions justice de Dieu.

Him who knew no sin, in our behalf he has made to be sin; so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
