2 Chroniques 8
1 Or, vingt ans s’étant accomplis après que Salomon eut bâti la maison du Seigneur et sa propre maison,
And after twentie yeere when Salomon had built the house of the Lord, and his owne house,
2 Il bâtit les villes qu’Hiram lui avait données, et y fit habiter les enfants d’Israël.
Then Salomon built the cities that Huram gaue to Salomon, and caused the children of Israel to dwell there.
3 Il s’en alla aussi à Emath-Suba, et s’en empara.
And Salomon went to Hamath Zobah, and ouercame it.
4 Et il bâtit Palmyre dans le désert, et les autres villes très fortifiées, il les bâtit en Emath.
And he built Tadmor in the wildernesse, and repayred all the cities of store which hee built in Hamath.
5 Il construisit aussi Béthoron la haute, et Béthoron la basse, villes murées, ayant des portes, des verrous et des serrures;
And he built Beth-horon the vpper, and Beth-horon the nether, cities defensed with walles, gates and barres:
6 Et de plus Balaath. toutes les villes très fortes qui étaient à Salomon, toutes les villes des quadriges, et les villes de la cavalerie: tout ce que Salomon voulut et décida, il le bâtit, dans Jérusalem, et sur le Liban, et dans tout le pays de sa domination.
Also Baalath, and al the cities of store that Salomon had, and all the charet cities, and the cities of the horsemen, and euery pleasant place that Salomon had a minde to builde in Ierusalem, and in Lebanon, and throughout all the lande of his dominion.
7 Quant à tout le peuple qui était resté des Héthéens, des Amorrhéens, des Phérézéens, des Hévéens et des Jébuséens, qui n’étaient point de la race d’Israël,
And all the people that were left to ye Hittites, and ye Amorites, and Perizzites, and the Hiuuites, and the Iebusites, which were not of Israel,
8 Mais des enfants et des descendants de ceux que les enfants d’Israël n’avaient point tués, Salomon les rendit dépendants et tributaires jusqu’à ce jour.
But of their children which were left after them in the lande, whome the children of Israel had not consumed, euen them did Salomon make tributaries vntill this day.
9 Pour les enfants d’Israël, il ne les employa pas à travailler aux ouvrages du roi; car c’étaient des hommes de guerre, les premiers chefs et les commandants de ses quadriges et de sa cavalerie.
But of the children of Israel did Salomon make no seruantes for his worke: for they were men of warre, and his chiefe princes, and the captaines of his charets and of his horsemen.
10 Or tous les princes de l’armée du roi Salomon étaient au nombre de deux cent cinquante, qui instruisaient le peuple.
So these were the chiefe of the officers which Salomon had, euen two hundreth and fiftie that bare rule ouer the people.
11 Quant à la fille de Pharaon, il la transporta de la cité de David dans la maison qu’il lui avait bâtie; car le roi dit: Ma femme n’habitera pas dans la maison de David, roi d’Israël, parce quelle a été sanctifiée, du moment que l’arche du Seigneur y est entrée.
Then Salomon brought vp the daughter of Pharaoh out of the citie of Dauid, into the house that he had built for her: for he saide, My wife shall not dwel in the house of Dauid King of Israel: for it is holy, because that the Arke of the Lord came vnto it.
12 Alors Salomon offrit des holocaustes au Seigneur sur l’autel du Seigneur, qu’il avait construit devant le portique,
Then Salomon offered burnt offrings vnto the Lord, on the altar of the Lord, which he had built before the porche,
13 Pour qu’on y offrît chaque jour des sacrifices, selon le commandement de Moïse, aux jours du sabbat, aux calendes, et aux jours de fête, trois fois par an, c’est-à-dire à la solennité des azymes, à la solennité des semaines et à la solennité des tabernacles.
To offer according to the commandement of Moses euery day, in the Sabbaths, and in the newe moones, and in the solemne feastes, three times in the yeere, that is, in the feast of the Vnleauened bread, and in the feast of the Weekes, and in the feast of the Tabernacles.
14 Et il établit, selon les prescriptions de David, son père, les devoirs des prêtres dans leur ministère, les Lévites dans leur ordre, pour chanter des louanges et servir devant les prêtres, suivant le rite de chaque jour, et les portiers, d’après la distribution qui en avait été faite pour chaque porte; ainsi, en effet, l’avait ordonné David, l’homme de Dieu.
And he set the courses of the Priestes to their offices, according to the order of Dauid his father, and the Leuites in their watches, for to praise and minister before the Priestes euery day, and the porters by their courses, at euery gate: for so was the commandement of Dauid the man of God.
15 Touchant les commandements du roi, ni les prêtres ni les Lévites n’omirent rien de tout ce qu’il avait ordonné, et par rapport à la garde des trésors,
And they declined not from the commandement of the King, concerning the Priests and the Leuites, touching al things, and touching the treasures.
16 Salomon eut toutes les dépenses préparées depuis le jour qu’il jeta les fondements de la maison jusqu’au jour où il l’acheva.
Nowe Salomon had made prouision for all the worke, from the day of the foundation of the house of the Lord, vntill it was finished: so the house of the Lord was perfite.
17 Alors Salomon alla à Asiongaber et à Aïlath, sur le bord de la mer Rouge, qui est dans la terre d’Edom.
Then went Salomon to Ezion-geber, and to Eloth by the sea side in the lande of Edom.
18 Or Hiram lui envoya, par l’entremise de ses serviteurs, des vaisseaux et des matelots connaissant la mer, et ils allèrent avec les serviteurs de Salomon à Ophir, et ils emportèrent de là quatre cent cinquante talents d’or, et ils les portèrent au roi Salomon.
And Huram sent him by the handes of his seruants, shippes, and seruants that had knowledge of the sea: and they went with the seruants of Salomon to Ophir, and brought thence foure hundreth and fiftie talents of golde, and brought them to King Salomon.
