2 Chroniques 36
1 Le peuple du pays prit donc Joachaz, fils de Josias, et l’établit roi en la place de son père à Jérusalem.
Then the people of the land took Joachaz the son of Josias, and made him king instead of his father in Jerusalem.
2 Joachaz avait vingt-trois ans lorsqu’il commença à régner, et il régna trois mois à Jérusalem.
Joachaz was three and twenty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned three months in Jerusalem.
3 Mais le roi d’Égypte, étant venu à Jérusalem, le déposa, et condamna le pays à cent talents d’argent et à un talent d’or.
And the king of Egypt came to Jerusalem, and deposed him, and condemned the land in a hundred talents of silver, and a talent of gold.
4 Et il établit Eliakim, son frère, roi en sa place sur Juda et sur Jérusalem, et il changea son nom en Joakim; mais Joachaz lui-même, il le prit avec lui et l’emmena en Égypte.
And he made Eliakim his brother king in his stead, over Juda and Jerusalem: and he turned his name to Joakim: but he took Joachaz with him, and carried him away into Egypt.
5 Joakim avait vingt-cinq ans lorsqu’il commença à régner, et il régna onze ans à Jérusalem; mais il fit le mal devant le Seigneur son Dieu.
Joakim was five and twenty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem: and he did evil before the Lord his God.
6 Contre lui monta Nabuchodonosor, roi des Chaldéens, et il l’emmena enchaîné à Babylone,
Against him came up Nabuchodonosor king of the Chaldeans, and led him bound in chains into Babylon.
7 Dans laquelle il transporta aussi les vases du Seigneur, et il les mit dans son temple.
And he carried also thither the vessels of the Lord, and put them in his temple.
8 Mais le reste des actions de Joakim, et de ses abominations qu’il fit, et ce qui fut découvert en lui, est contenu dans le Livre des rois de Juda et d’Israël. Joachin son fils régna en sa place.
But the rest of the acts of Joakim, and his abominations, which he wrought, and the things that were found in him, are contained in the book of the kings of Juda and Israel. And Joachin his son reigned in his stead.
9 Joachin avait huit ans lorsqu’il commença à régner, et il régna trois mois et dix jours à Jérusalem, et il fit le mal en la présence du Seigneur.
Joachin was eight years old when he began to reign, and he reigned three months and ten days in Jerusalem, and he did evil in the sight of the Lord.
10 Et lorsque le cours de l’année fut révolu, le roi Nabuchodonosor envoya des troupes qui l’emmenèrent à Babylone, emportant en même temps les vases les plus précieux de la maison du Seigneur. Or il établit Sédécias, son oncle, roi sur Juda et sur Jérusalem.
And at the return of the year, king Nabuchodonosor sent, and brought him to Babylon, carrying away at the same time the most precious vessels of the house of the Lord: and he made Sedecias his uncle king over Juda and Jerusalem.
11 Sédécias avait vingt et un ans lorsqu’il commença à régner, et il régna onze ans à Jérusalem.
Sedecias was one and twenty years old when he began to reign: and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem.
12 Et il fit le mal en la présence du Seigneur son Dieu, et il ne rougit point en face de Jérémie, le prophète, qui lui parlait par l’ordre du Seigneur.
And he did evil in the eyes of the Lord his God, and did not reverence the face of Jeremias the prophet speaking to him from the mouth of the Lord.
13 Il se détacha même du roi Nabuchodonosor, qui l’avait adjuré par Dieu; il endurcit sa tête et son cœur pour ne point retourner au Seigneur Dieu d’Israël.
He also revolted from king Nabuchodonosor, who had made him swear by God: and he hardened his neck and his heart, from returning to the Lord the God of Israel.
14 Et même tous les princes des prêtres, et le peuple, prévariquèrent iniquement suivant toutes les abominations des nations, et profanèrent la maison du Seigneur, qu’il avait sanctifiée pour lui à Jérusalem.
Moreover all the chief of the priests, and the people wickedly transgressed according to all the abominations of the Gentiles: and they defiled the house of the Lord, which he had sanctified to himself in Jerusalem.
15 Or le Seigneur Dieu de leurs pères s’adressait à eux par l’entremise de ses envoyés, se levant durant la nuit, et les avertissant chaque jour, parce qu’il ménageait son peuple et sa demeure.
And the Lord the God of their fathers sent to them, by the hand of his messengers, rising early, and daily admonishing them: because he spared his people and his dwelling place.
16 Mais eux se moquaient des envoyés de Dieu, faisaient peu de cas de ses paroles, et raillaient les prophètes, jusqu’à ce que la fureur du Seigneur montât contre son peuple, et qu’il n’y eût aucun remède.
But they mocked the messengers of God, and despised his words, and misused the prophets, until the wrath of the Lord arose against his people, and there was no remedy.
17 Car il amena contre eux le roi des Chaldéens, qui tua leurs jeunes hommes par le glaive dans la maison de son sanctuaire; et il n’eut pitié ni de l’adolescent, ni de la vierge, ni du vieillard, ni même de l’homme décrépit: mais il les livra tous entre ses mains,
For he brought upon them the king of the Chaldeans, and he slew their young men with the sword in the house of his sanctuary, he had no compassion on young man, or maiden, old man or even him that stooped for age, but he delivered them all into his hands.
18 Et quant à tous les vases de la maison du Seigneur, tant les grands que les petits, et les trésors du temple, du roi et des princes, il les transporta à Babylone.
And all the vessels of the house of the Lord, great and small, and the treasures of the temple and of the king, and of the princes he carried away to Babylon.
19 Les ennemis incendièrent la maison de Dieu, détruisirent le mur de Jérusalem; brûlèrent toutes les tours; et tout ce qu’il y avait de précieux, ils le détruisirent.
And the enemies set fire to the house of God, and broke down the wall of Jerusalem, burnt all the towers, and whatsoever was precious they destroyed.
20 Si quelqu’un avait échappé au glaive, conduit à Babylone, il était esclave du roi et de ses enfants, jusqu’à ce que régnât le roi de Perse,
Whosoever escaped the sword, was led into Babylon, and there served the king and his sons till the reign of the king of Persia.
21 Et que fût accomplie la parole du Seigneur annoncée par la bouche de Jérémie, et que la terre célébrât ses sabbats; car pendant tous les jours de la désolation, elle fit le sabbat, jusqu’à ce que fussent accomplis les soixante-dix ans.
That the word of the Lord by the mouth of Jeremias might be fulfilled, and the land might keep her sabbaths: for all the days of the desolation she kept a sabbath, till the seventy years were expired.
22 Mais en la première année de Cyrus, roi des Perses, pour accomplir la parole du Seigneur qu’il avait dite par la bouche de Jérémie, le Seigneur suscita l’esprit de Cyrus, roi des Perses, qui commanda de publier dans tout son royaume un édit, même par écrit, disant:
But in the first year of Cyrus king of the Persians, to fulfill the word of the Lord, which he had spoken by the mouth of Jeremias, the Lord stirred up the heart of Cyrus king of the Persians who commanded it to be proclaimed through all his kingdom, and by writing also, saying:
23 Voici ce que dit Cyrus, roi des Perses: Le Seigneur Dieu du ciel m’a donné tous les royaumes de la terre, et lui-même m’a ordonné de lui bâtir une maison dans Jérusalem, qui est dans la Judée. Qui d’entre vous est de tout son peuple? Que le Seigneur son Dieu soit avec lui, et qu’il monte.
Thus saith Cyrus king of the Persians: All the kingdoms of the earth hath the Lord the God of heaven given to me, and he hath charged me to build him a house in Jerusalem, which is in Judea: who is there among you of all his people? The Lord his God be with him, and let him go up.
