2 Chroniques 35

1 Josias fit ensuite à Jérusalem la Pâque du Seigneur, laquelle fut immolée le quatorzième jour du premier mois;

And Josiah kept in Jerusalem the passover unto the Lord: and they slaughtered the passover-sacrifice on the fourteenth day of the first month.

2 Et il établit les prêtres en leurs fonctions, et les exhorta à servir dans la maison du Seigneur.

And he placed the priests in their charges, and strengthened them for the service of the house of the Lord.

3 Aux Lévites aussi, par l’enseignement desquels tout Israël était sanctifié au Seigneur, il dit: Mettez l’arche dans le sanctuaire du temple qu’a bâti Salomon, fils de David, roi d’Israël, car vous ne la porterez plus du tout; mais maintenant, servez le Seigneur votre Dieu et son peuple Israël.

And he said unto the Levites that instructed all Israel, who were holy unto the Lord, Set the holy ark in the house which Solomon the son of David the king of Israel did build; you have not to carry it any more upon your shoulders; now serve the Lord your God, and his people Israel.

4 Préparez-vous donc dans vos maisons et vos familles, selon la distribution de chacun de vous, ainsi que l’a ordonné David, roi d’Israël, et que l’a écrit Salomon, son fils.

And prepare yourselves by your family divisions, according to your courses, after the written order of David the king of Israel, and after the written order of Solomon his son;

5 Et servez dans le sanctuaire, selon les familles et les classes lévitiques;

And stand in the holy place according to the divisions of the family divisions of your brethren the sons of the people, and after the division of the families of the Levites;

6 Et, sanctifiés, immolez la Pâque; et préparez vos frères aussi, afin qu’ils puissent faire selon les paroles qu’a dites le Seigneur par l’entremise de Moïse.

And slaughter the passover-sacrifice, and sanctify yourselves, and prepare it for your brethren, to do according to the word of the Lord by the hand of Moses.

7 Outre cela Josias donna à tout le peuple qui s’était trouvé là à la solennité de la Pâque, des agneaux et des chevreaux de ses troupeaux, trente mille têtes du reste de son bétail, et trois mille bœufs: c’était du bien entièrement du roi.

And Josiah set apart for the sons of the people, of the flock, lambs and kids, all for the passover-sacrifices, for all that were present, to the number of thirty thousand, and of steers three thousand: these were of the king's property.

8 Ses officiers aussi offrirent ce qu’ils avaient spontanément voué, tant au peuple qu’aux prêtres et aux Lévites. Or Helcias, Zacharie et Jahiel, princes de la maison du Seigneur, donnèrent aux prêtres, pour faire la Pâque, deux mille six cents têtes de menu bétail mêlé et trois cents bœufs.

And his princes set apart [much] as a freewill gift for the people for the priests, and for the Levites: Chilkiyah, and Zecharyahu, and Jechiel, the rulers of the house of God, gave unto the priests for the passover-sacrifices two thousand and six hundred [lambs and kids], and three hundred steers.

9 Mais Chonénias, Séméias, et même Nathanaël, ses frères, de plus Hasabias, Jéhiel et Jozabad, princes des Lévites, donnèrent aux autres Lévites, pour célébrer la Pâque, cinq mille têtes de menu bétail et cinq cents bœufs.

And Conanyahu, and Shema'yahu and Nethanel, his brothers, and Chashabyahu and Je'iel and Jozabad, the chiefs of the Levites, set apart unto the Levites for passover-sacrifices five thousand [lambs and kids], and five hundred steers.

10 Le service fut donc préparé, et les prêtres se tinrent à leurs fonctions, et les Lévites aussi selon leurs classes, d’après l’ordre du roi.

So the service was established, and the priests stood on their station, and the Levites in their divisions, according to the king's command.

11 Ainsi la Pâque fut immolée; les prêtres répandirent de leur propre main le sang, et les Lévites écorchèrent les holocaustes.

And they slaughtered the passover-sacrifice, and the priests sprinkled [the blood received] from their hands, and the Levites did the flaying.

12 Et ils les séparèrent pour les donner dans les maisons et dans les familles de chacun, et pour les offrir au Seigneur, comme il est écrit dans le livre de Moïse; des bœufs aussi, ils firent pareillement.

And they removed the burnt-offerings to give them to the divisions of the family divisions of the sons of the people, to offer [them] unto the Lord, as it is written in the book of Moses. And so did they with the steers.

13 Et ils firent rôtir la Pâque sur le feu, d’après ce qui est écrit dans la loi; mais les victimes pacifiques, ils les firent cuire dans les chaudières, dans les pots et dans les marmites, et les distribuèrent en hâte à tout le peuple;

And they roasted the passover by the fire in accordance with the prescribed manner; but the holy offerings they seethed in pots, and in caldrons, and in pans, and divided them speedily among all the sons of the people.

14 Et ils en préparèrent ensuite pour eux et pour les prêtres: car les prêtres furent occupés jusqu’à la nuit à l’oblation des holocaustes et des graisses; de là, les Lévites n’en préparèrent pour eux, et pour les prêtres, fils d’Aaron, que les derniers.

And afterward they prepared for themselves, and for the priests; because the priests the sons of Aaron [were busied] in offering the burnt-offerings and the fat until night: therefore the Levites prepared for themselves and for the priests the sons of Aaron.

15 Les chantres, fils d’Asaph, se tenaient aussi dans leur rang, d’après le commandement de David, d’Asaph, d’Héman et d’Iditun, prophètes du roi. Les portiers veillaient à chaque porte, de manière qu’ils ne s’écartaient pas un seul moment de leur ministère; c’est pour cela que les Lévites, leurs frères, leur préparèrent des aliments.

And the singers the sons of Assaph were on their station, according to the command of David, and Assaph, and Heman, and Jeduthun the king's seer; and the gatekeepers were at every gate: they had no need to depart from their service; because their brethren the Levites prepared for them.

16 Tout le culte du Seigneur fut donc accompli selon les rites en ce jour-là, pour faire la Pâque, et pour offrir des holocaustes sur l’autel du Seigneur, d’après le commandement du roi Josias.

So was established all the service of the Lord on the same day, to prepare the passover-sacrifice, and to offer burnt-offerings upon the altar of the Lord, according to the command of king Josiah.

17 Et les enfants d’Israël qui s’étaient trouvés là firent la Pâque en ce temps, et la solennité des azymes durant sept jours.

And the children of Israel that were present prepared the passover-sacrifice at that time, and [kept] the feast of unleavened bread seven days.

18 Il n’y eut point de Pâque semblable à celle-ci en Israël, depuis les jours de Samuel le prophète; et même aucun de tous les rois d’Israël ne fit la Pâque comme Josias pour les prêtres, les Lévites, tout Juda et Israël qui s’était trouvé là, et pour tous ceux qui habitaient dans Jérusalem.

And there was not holden any passover like this in Israel from the days of Samuel the prophet; and all the kings of Israel did not keep such a passover as Josiah kept, with the priests, and the Levites, and all Judah and Israel that were present, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

19 C’est à la dix-huitième année du règne de Josias que cette Pâque fut célébrée.

In the eighteenth year of the reign of Josiah was this passover holden.

20 Après que Josias eut restauré le temple, Néchao, roi d’Égypte, monta pour combattre à Charcamis près de l’Euphrate: et Josias marcha à sa rencontre.

After all this, when Josiah had restored the temple, came up Necho the king of Egypt to fight against Karkemish by the Euphrates, and Josiah went out against him.

21 Mais celui-ci, lui ayant envoyé des messagers, dit: Qu’importe à moi et à vous, roi de Juda? Ce n’est pas contre vous que je viens aujourd’hui; mais je combats contre une autre maison, vers laquelle Dieu m’a ordonné de marcher en hâte. Cessez d’agir contre Dieu, qui est avec moi, de peur qu’il ne vous tue.

But he sent ambassadors to him, saying, What have I to do with thee, thou king of Judah? I come not against thee this day, but against the house wherewith I have war, and God hath commanded me to make haste: forbear thee from meddling with God who is with me, that he may not destroy thee.

22 Josias ne voulut point retourner; mais il prépara contre lui un combat, et il n’acquiesça pas aux paroles de Néchao, sorties de la bouche de Dieu; mais il s’avança pour combattre dans le champ de Mageddo

Nevertheless did Josiah not turn his face away from him, but disguised himself, to fight with him, and hearkened not unto the words of Necho from the mouth of God; and he came to fight in the valley of Megiddo.

23 Et là, blessé par les archers, il dit à ses serviteurs: Tirez-moi de la bataille, parce que je suis grièvement blessé.

And the archers shot at king Josiah: and the king said to his servants, Carry me away: for I am sorely wounded.

24 Ils le transportèrent de son char dans un autre char qui le suivait, selon la coutume des rois, et ils le portèrent à Jérusalem, et il mourut, et fut enseveli dans le mausolée de ses pères; et tout Juda et Jérusalem le pleurèrent;

And his servants carried him away out of that chariot, and conveyed him in the second chariot that he had: and they brought him to Jerusalem, and he died, and was buried in the sepulchres of his fathers. And all Judah and Jerusalem mourned for Josiah.

25 Jérémie surtout, dont les chantres et les chanteuses répètent tous jusqu’au présent jour les lamentations sur Josias; et cela a prévalu comme loi en Israël: voilà qu’on le trouve écrit dans les lamentations.

And Jeremiah lamented for Josiah; and all the singing men and the singing women spoke of Josiah in their lamentations to this day, and they instituted them as a custom in Israel: and, behold, they are written in the lamentations.

26 Mais le reste des actions de Josias, et ses miséricordes qui sont ordonnées par la loi du Seigneur,

And the rest of the acts of Josiah, and his pious deeds, in accordance with what is written in the law of the Lord,

27 Comme aussi ses œuvres, les premières et les dernières, sont écrites dans le Livre des rois de Juda et d’Israël.

And his acts, the first and the last, behold, they are written in the book of the kings of Israel and Judah.
