2 Chroniques 26
1 Ensuite tout le peuple de Juda établit son fils Ozias, âgé de seize ans, roi en la place d’Amasias, son père.
And all the people of Judah took 'Uzziyahu, who was then sixteen years old, and made him king instead of his father Amazyahu.
2 C’est lui qui bâtit Aïlath, et la rendit à la domination de Juda, après que le roi se fut endormi avec ses pères.
He it was that built Eloth, and brought it back to Judah, after the king slept with his fathers.
3 Ozias avait seize ans quand il commença à régner, et il régna cinquante-deux ans à Jérusalem; le nom de sa mère était Jéchélie de Jérusalem.
Sixteen years old was 'Uzziyahu when he became king, and fifty and two years did he reign in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Yecholyah of Jerusalem.
4 Et il fit ce qui était droit aux yeux du Seigneur, selon tout ce qu’avait fait Amasias, son père.
And he did what is right in the eyes of the Lord, in accordance with all that his father Amazyahu had done.
5 Et il chercha le Seigneur aux jours de Zacharie, qui comprenait et voyait Dieu; et comme il cherchait le Seigneur, le Seigneur le dirigea en toutes choses.
And he was [inclined] to seek God in the days of Zecharyahu, who had understanding in the visions of God; and during the time that he sought the Lord, God caused him to prosper.
6 Enfin il sortit et combattit contre les Philistins; il détruisit le mur de Geth, le mur de Jabnie et le mur d’Azot: il bâtit des villes dans Azot et chez les Philistins.
And he went forth and made war against the Philistines, and he broke down the wall of Gath, and the wall of Jabneh, and the wall of Ashdod; and he built cities in [the country of] Ashdod, and among the Philistines.
7 Et Dieu l’aida contre les Philistins et contre les Arabes qui habitaient dans Gurbaal, et contre les Ammonites.
And God helped him against the Philistines, and against the Arabians that dwelt in Gur-ba'al, and the Me'unim.
8 Or les Ammonites donnaient des présents à Ozias, et son nom se répandit jusqu’à l’entrée de l’Égypte, à cause de ses fréquentes victoires.
And the 'Ammonites gave presents to 'Uzziyahu: and his name extended even to the entrance of Egypt; for he became exceedingly strong.
9 Et Ozias bâtit des tours à Jérusalem sur la porte de l’angle et sur la porte de la vallée, et d’autres sur le même côté du mur, et il les fortifia.
And 'Uzziyahu built towers in Jerusalem, above the corner-gate, and above the valley-gate, and at the angle, and made them strong.
10 Il bâtit encore des tours dans le désert, et il creusa plusieurs citernes, parce qu’il avait beaucoup de troupeaux, tant dans la campagne que dans la vaste étendue du désert. Il eut aussi des vignes et des vignerons sur les montagnes et sur le Carmel; car c’était un homme adonné à l’agriculture.
He built also towers in the desert, and hewed out many wells; for he had much cattle, both in the lowlands and in the plain; [also] husbandmen, and vintners in the mountains, and in Carmel; for he loved husbandry.
11 Or l’armée de ses guerriers qui marchaient aux combats était sous la main de Jéhiel, le scribe, Maasias, le docteur, et sous la main de Hananie, qui était un des chefs de l’armée du roi.
Moreover 'Uzziyah had an army of fighting men, that went out to the host by bands, according to the number of those mustered of them through the hand of Je'iel the scribe and Ma'asseyahu the overseer, under the supervision of Chananyahu, one of the king's captains.
12 Le nombre complet des princes dans les familles des hommes forts était de deux mille six cents.
The whole number of the chiefs of the family divisions of the mighty men of valor was two thousand and six hundred.
13 Et sous eux toute l’armée était de trois cent sept mille cinq cents soldats, qui était propres à la guerre, et qui combattaient pour le roi contre les ennemis.
And under their supervision was an efficient army, [of] three hundred thousand and seven thousand and five hundred, that made war with mighty power, to help the king against the enemy.
14 Or Ozias disposa pour eux, c’est-à-dire pour toute l’armée, des boucliers, des lances, des casques, des cuirasses, des arcs et des frondes à jeter des pierres.
And 'Uzziyahu prepared for them, for all the host, shields, and spears, and helmets, and coats of mail, and bows, and stones for slinging.
15 Et il fit dans Jérusalem des machines de divers genres, qu’il plaça dans les tours et dans tous les angles des murs, pour lancer les flèches et les grosses pierres; et son nom se répandit au loin, parce que le Seigneur l’aidait et le fortifiait.
And he made in Jerusalem artificial contrivances, contrived by a skilful man, to be [stationed] on the towers and upon the ramparts, to shoot off arrows and great stones. And his name extended ever so far abroad; for he was marvelously assisted, till he became strong.
16 Mais, lorsqu’il eut été ainsi affermi, son cœur s’éleva pour sa perte, et il négligea le Seigneur son Dieu; et, étant entré dans le temple du Seigneur, il voulut brûler de l’encens sur l’autel du parfum.
But when he was strong, his heart was lifted up to his destruction; and he became unfaithful against the Lord his God, and went into the temple of the Lord to burn incense upon the altar of incense.
17 Mais aussitôt entra après lui Azarias, le prêtre, et avec lui quatre-vingts prêtres du Seigneur, hommes très forts;
And there went in after him 'Azaryahu the priest, and with him were priests of the Lord, valiant men, [to the number of] eighty;
18 Ils s’opposèrent au roi, et dirent: Il ne vous appartient pas, Ozias, de brûler de l’encens devant le Seigneur; mais c’est aux prêtres, c’est-à-dire aux enfants d’Aaron, qui ont été consacrés pour ce ministère. Sortez du sanctuaire, et ne nous méprisez point, parce que cette action ne vous sera pas imputée à gloire par le Seigneur Dieu.
And they stood forward against king 'Uzziyahu, and they said unto him, It is not for thee, O 'Uzziyahu, to burn incense unto the Lord, but for the priests the sons of Aaron, who are consecrated to burn incense: go out of the sanctuary; for thou hast trespassed; and it will not be for thy honor from the Lord God.
19 Mais Ozias, irrité, tenant un encensoir à la main pour brûler de l’encens, menaçait les prêtres. Et aussitôt la lèpre se forma sur son front, devant les prêtres, dans la maison du Seigneur, près de l’autel du parfum.
But 'Uzziyahu became wroth, and in his hand was a censer to burn incense: and while he was wroth with the priests, the leprosy even broke out on his forehead before the priests in the house of the Lord, above the altar of the incense.
20 Et lorsque Azarias, le pontife, et tous les autres prêtres eurent jeté les yeux sur lui, ils virent la lèpre sur son front, et ils le chassèrent promptement. Mais lui-même, épouvanté, se hâta de sortir, parce qu’il sentit sur-le-champ la plaie du Seigneur.
And when 'Azaryahu the chief priest, with all the priests, turned about toward him, behold, he was leprous on his forehead, and they hurried him away from there: yea, he also made haste to go out, because the Lord had afflicted him.
21 Le roi, Ozias, fut donc lépreux jusqu’au jour de sa mort; et il habita dans une maison séparée, plein de la lèpre, à cause de laquelle il avait été chassé de la maison du Seigneur. Cependant Joatham, son fils, gouverna la maison du roi, et il jugeait le peuple de la terre.
And king 'Uzziyahu was a leper until the day of his death, and dwelt in the leper-house, as a leper; for he was excluded from the house of the Lord: and Jotham his son was over the king's house, [and] judged the people of the land.
22 Mais le reste des actions d’Ozias, des premières et des dernières, Isaïe, le prophète, fils d’Amos, l’a écrit.
And the rest of the acts of 'Uzziyahu, the first and the last, did Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amos write.
23 Et Ozias dormit avec ses pères, et on l’ensevelit dans le champ des sépulcres royaux, parce qu’il était lépreux; et Joatham, son fils, régna en sa place.
And 'Uzziyahu slept with his fathers, and they buried him with his fathers in the burial-field which belonged to the kings; for they said, He is a leper: and Jotham his son became king in his stead.
