2 Chroniques 12

1 Et lorsque le royaume de Roboam fut fortifié et affermi, il abandonna la loi du Seigneur, lui et tout Israël avec lui.

And when Rehoboam had established the kingdome and made it strong, hee forsooke the Lawe of the Lord, and all Israel with him.

2 Mais à la cinquième année du règne de Roboam, Sésac, roi d’Égypte, monta à Jérusalem (parce que les Israélites avaient péché contre le Seigneur)

Therefore in the fift yeere of King Rehoboam, Shishak the King of Egypt came vp against Ierusalem (because they had transgressed against the Lord)

3 Avec mille et deux cents chariots et soixante mille cavaliers; et le bas peuple qui était venu d’Égypte avec lui était sans nombre; il se composait de Libyens, de Troglodytes et d’Ethiopiens.

With twelue hundreth charets, and three score thousande horsemen, and the people were without nomber, that came with him from Egypt, euen the Lubims, Sukkiims, and the Ethiopians.

4 Et il prit les villes les plus fortifiées dans Juda, et il vint jusqu’à Jérusalem.

And he tooke the strong cities which were of Iudah, and came vnto Ierusalem.

5 Or Séméias, le prophète, vint trouver le roi Roboam et les princes de Juda, qui s’étaient réunis à Jérusalem, fuyant Sésac, et il leur dit: Voici ce que dit le Seigneur: Vous, vous m’avez abandonné, et moi, je vous ai abandonnés à la main de Sésac.

Then came Shemaiah the Prophet to Rehoboam, and to the princes of Iudah, that were gathered together in Hierusalem, because of Shishak, and sayde vnto them, Thus sayth the Lord, Ye haue forsaken me, therefore haue I also left you in the handes of Shishak.

6 Alors, consternés, les princes d’Israël et le roi dirent: Il est juste, le Seigneur.

Then the princes of Israel, and the King humbled themselues, and sayde, The Lord is iust.

7 Et lorsque le Seigneur vit qu’ils étaient humiliés, la parole du Seigneur fut adressée à Séméias, disant: Puisqu’ils se sont humiliés, je ne les exterminerai point, je leur donnerai un peu de secours, et ma fureur ne s’épanchera pas sur Jérusalem par la main de Sésac;

And when the Lord sawe that they humbled themselues, the worde of the Lord came to Shemaiah, saying, They haue humbled theselues, therefore I will not destroy them, but I will sende them deliuerance shortly, and my wrath shall not bee powred out vpon Ierusalem by the hand of Shishak.

8 Cependant ils le serviront, afin qu’ils sachent la différence de mon service et du service du royaume des nations.

Neuerthelesse they shalbe his sernants: so shall they knowe my seruice, and the seruice of the kingdomes of the earth.

9 C’est pourquoi Sésac, roi d’Égypte, se retira de Jérusalem après avoir enlevé les trésors de la maison du Seigneur et de la maison du roi, et il emporta tout avec lui, même les boucliers d’or qu’avait faits Salomon,

Then Shishak King of Egypt came vp against Ierusalem, and tooke the treasures of the house of the Lord, and the treasures of the Kings house he tooke euen all, and hee caried away the shields of golde, which Salomon had made.

10 À la place desquels le roi en fit d’airain, et les remit aux chefs des scutaires qui gardaient le vestibule du palais.

In stead whereof King Rehoboam made shieldes of brasse, and committed them to the handes of the chiefe of the garde, that wayted at the doore of the Kings house.

11 Et lorsque le roi entrait dans la maison du Seigneur, les scutaires venaient et les prenaient, puis ils les reportaient de nouveau dans leur arsenal.

And when the King entred into the house of the Lord, the garde came and bare them and brought them againe vnto the garde chamber.

12 Ainsi donc, parce qu’ils s’étaient humiliés, la colère du Seigneur fut détournée d’eux, et ils ne furent pas entièrement détruits, attendu qu’il se trouva encore dans Juda de bonnes œuvres.

And because hee humbled himselfe, the wrath of the Lord turned from him, that hee woulde not destroy all together. And also in Iudah the things prospered.

13 Le roi Roboam se fortifia donc dans Jérusalem, et y régna; or il avait quarante et un ans quand il commença à régner, et il régna dix-sept ans à Jérusalem, ville que le Seigneur avait choisie d’entre toutes les tribus d’Israël pour y établir son nom: or le nom de sa mère était Naama, l’Ammanite.

So King Rehoboam was strong in Ierusalem and reigned: for Rehoboam was one and fourtie yere olde, when he began to reigne, and reigned seuenteene yeres in Ierusalem, the citie which the Lord had chosen out of all the tribes of Israel to put his Name there. And his mothers name was Naamah an Ammonitesse.

14 Mais il fit le mal, et ne prépara point son cœur pour chercher le Seigneur.

And he did euill: for hee prepared not his heart to seeke the Lord.

15 Or les actions de Roboam, les premières et les dernières, sont écrites dans les livres de Séméias, le prophète, et d’Addo, le Voyant, et rapportées exactement: et Roboam et Jéroboam se firent la guerre durant tous leurs jours.

The actes also of Rehoboam, first and last, are they not written in the booke of Shemaiah the Prophet, and Iddo the Seer, in rehearsing the genealogie? and there was warre alway betweene Rehoboam and Ieroboam.

16 Et Roboam dormit avec ses pères, et il fut enseveli dans la cité de David; et Abia, son fils, régna en sa place.

And Rehoboam slept with his fathers, and was buried in the citie of Dauid, and Abiiah his sonne reigned in his stead.
