2 Chroniques 1
1 Salomon, fils de David, fut donc affermi dans la royauté, et le Seigneur son Dieu était avec lui; et le Seigneur l’éleva très haut.
And Solomon the son of David was strengthened in his kingdom, and Jehovah his God was with him and magnified him exceedingly.
2 Et Salomon donna des ordres à tout Israël, aux tribuns, aux centurions, aux autres chefs, aux magistrats et aux princes des familles;
And Solomon spoke to all Israel, to the captains of thousands and of hundreds, and to the judges, and to all the princes of all Israel, the chief fathers;
3 Et il s’en alla avec toute la multitude au haut lieu de Gabaon, où était le tabernacle de l’alliance de Dieu, que fit Moïse, serviteur de Dieu, dans le désert.
and Solomon, and all the congregation with him, went to the high place at Gibeon; for there was God's tent of meeting which Moses the servant of Jehovah had made in the wilderness.
4 Quant à l’arche de Dieu, David l’avait amenée de Cariathiarim au lieu qu’il lui avait préparé, et où il lui avait dressé un tabernacle, c’est-à-dire à Jérusalem.
But the ark of God had David brought up from Kirjath-jearim to the [place] that David had prepared for it; for he had spread a tent for it at Jerusalem.
5 Mais l’autel d’airain qu’avait fait Béséléel fils d’Uri, fils de Hur, était resté là devant le tabernacle du Seigneur; et Salomon alla le chercher, lui et toute l’assemblée.
And the brazen altar that Bezaleel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, had made, was there before the tabernacle of Jehovah; and Solomon and the congregation sought unto it.
6 Et Salomon monta sur l’autel d’airain devant le tabernacle de l’alliance du Seigneur, et il y offrit mille hosties.
And Solomon offered there upon the brazen altar before Jehovah which was at the tent of meeting; and he offered up a thousand burnt-offerings upon it.
7 Or voilà qu’en cette nuit même Dieu lui apparut, disant: Demande ce que tu veux que je te donne.
In that night God appeared to Solomon, and said to him, Ask what I shall give thee.
8 Alors Salomon dit à Dieu: C’est vous qui avez fait une grande miséricorde à David, mon père, et qui m’avez établi roi à sa place.
And Solomon said to God, Thou hast shewn unto David my father great loving-kindness, and hast made me king in his stead.
9 Maintenant donc, Seigneur Dieu, qu’elle s’accomplisse, la promesse que vous avez faite à David, mon père: car c’est vous qui m’avez établi roi sur votre peuple, qui est aussi innombrable que la poussière de la terre.
Now, Jehovah Elohim, let thy word unto David my father be firm; for thou hast made me king over a people numerous as the dust of the earth.
10 Donnez-moi de la sagesse et de l’intelligence, enfin que j’entre et sorte devant votre peuple; car qui peut juger dignement ce peuple qui est vôtre, et qui est si grand?
Give me now wisdom and knowledge, that I may go out and come in before this people; for who can judge this thy great people?
11 Alors Dieu répondit à Salomon: Parce que cela a plu de préférence à ton cœur, et que tu ne m’as point demandé des richesses, ni des biens, ni de la gloire, ni les âmes de ceux qui te haïssent, ni des jours de vie très nombreux; mais que tu as demandé de la sagesse et de la science, afin que tu puisses juger mon peuple sur lequel je t’ai établi roi:
And God said to Solomon, Because this was in thy heart, and thou hast not asked riches, wealth, or honour, nor the life of them that hate thee, neither yet hast asked long life; but hast asked for thyself wisdom and knowledge, that thou mayest judge my people, over whom I have made thee king:
12 La sagesse et la science te sont données; et quant à des richesses, à des biens, à de la gloire, je t’en donnerai de telle sorte, que nul parmi les rois, ni avant toi, ni après toi, n’aura été semblable à toi.
wisdom and knowledge are granted unto thee; and I will give thee riches and wealth and honour, such as none of the kings have had that have been before thee, neither shall any after thee have the like.
13 Salomon vint donc du haut lieu de Gabaon à Jérusalem, devant le tabernacle d’alliance, et il régna sur Israël.
Then Solomon came back [from] the high place at Gibeon to Jerusalem, from before the tent of meeting, and reigned over Israel.
14 Et il rassembla des chars et des cavaliers; on lui disposa mille quatre cents chariots et douze mille cavaliers, et il les fit mettre dans les villes des quadriges, et près du roi à Jérusalem.
And Solomon gathered chariots and horsemen; and he had a thousand four hundred chariots and twelve thousand horsemen; and he placed them in the chariot-cities, and with the king at Jerusalem.
15 Et le roi rendit l’or et l’argent communs comme les pierres dans Jérusalem, et les cèdres comme les sycomores qui croissent dans les plaines en grande quantité.
And the king made silver and gold in Jerusalem as stones, and cedars made he as the sycamores that are in the lowland for abundance.
16 Mais les chevaux lui étaient amenés d’Égypte et de Coa par les marchands du roi, qui y allaient et les achetaient,
And the exportation of horses that Solomon had was from Egypt: a caravan of the king's merchants fetched a drove [of horses], at a price.
17 Un attelage de quatre chevaux, six cents sicles d’argent, et un cheval, cent cinquante; et c’est ainsi que dans tous les royaumes des Héthéens, et par tous les rois de Syrie, la vente se pratiquait.
And they fetched up and brought forth out of Egypt a chariot for six hundred [shekels] of silver, and a horse for a hundred and fifty; and so they brought [them] by their means, for all the kings of the Hittites and for the kings of Syria.
