1 Quant à sa maison, Salomon la bâtit et l’acheva entièrement en treize ans.
And Solomon was building his own house thirteen years, and he finished all his house.
2 Il bâtit aussi la maison de la forêt du Liban, qui avait cent coudées de longueur, cinquante coudées de largeur et trente coudées de hauteur, et quatre galeries entre des colonnes de bois de cèdre; car il avait coupé du bois de cèdre pour les colonnes.
For he built the house of the forest of Lebanon; the length thereof was an hundred cubits, and the breadth thereof fifty cubits, and the height thereof thirty cubits, upon four rows of cedar pillars, with cedar beams upon the pillars.
3 Et il revêtit de lambris de bois de cèdre toute la voûte, qui était soutenue par quarante-cinq colonnes. Or chaque rang avait quinze colonnes,
And it was covered with cedar above over the forty and five beams, that were upon the pillars; fifteen in a row.
4 Placées vis-à-vis l’une de l’autre,
And there were prospects in three rows, and light was over against light in three ranks.
5 Et se regardant en face, une égale distance étant entre les colonnes; et sur les colonnes étaient des poutres carrées entièrement égales.
And all the doors and posts were square in prospect: and light was over against light in three ranks.
6 Et il fit le portique des colonnes de cinquante coudées de longueur, et de trente coudées de largeur, et un autre portique en face du plus grand, et des colonnes et des architraves sur les colonnes.
And he made the porch of pillars; the length thereof was fifty cubits, and the breadth thereof thirty cubits; and a porch before them; and pillars and thick beams before them.
7 Il fit aussi le portique du trône dans lequel est le tribunal, et il le couvrit de bois de cèdre, depuis le pavé jusqu’au haut.
And he made the porch of the throne where he might judge, even the porch of judgment: and it was covered with cedar from floor to floor.
8 Et il y avait au milieu du portique une petite maison, d’un semblable ouvrage, dans laquelle on s’asseyait pour juger. Il fit aussi pour la fille de Pharaon (que Salomon avait épousée) une maison d’un ouvrage tel que ce portique même.
And his house where he might dwell, the other court within the porch, was of the like work. He made also an house for Pharaoh’s daughter, (whom Solomon had taken to wife, ) like unto this porch.
9 Tout était de pierres d’un grand prix, lesquelles avaient été sciées d’une certaine forme et d’une certaine mesure, tant en dedans qu’en dehors, depuis le fondement jusqu’au haut des murailles, mais en dehors jusqu’au grand parvis.
All these were of costly stones, even of hewn stone, according to measure, sawed with saws, within and without, even from the foundation unto the coping, and so on the outside unto the great court.
10 Les fondements aussi étaient de pierres de prix, de grandes pierres de dix ou de huit coudées.
And the foundation was of costly stones, even great stones, stones of ten cubits, and stones of eight cubits.
11 Et au-dessus étaient des pierres de prix, taillées d’une même mesure, et ainsi du cèdre.
And above were costly stones, even hewn stone, according to measure, and cedar wood.
12 Le grand parvis était rond, et de trois rangs de pierres taillées, et d’un rang de cèdre dolé; et il en était ainsi dans le parvis intérieur de la maison du Seigneur, et dans le portique de la maison.
And the great court round about had three rows of hewn stone, and a row of cedar beams; like as the inner court of the house of the LORD, and the porch of the house.
13 Le roi Salomon envoya aussi pour faire venir de Tyr Hiram,
And king Solomon sent and fetched Hiram out of Tyre.
14 Fils d’une femme veuve de la tribu de Nephthali, et d’un père Tyrien, ouvrier en bronze, rempli de sagesse, d’intelligence et de science, pour faire toute sorte d’ouvrages en airain. Hiram, étant donc venu vers le roi Salomon, fit tous ses ouvrages.
He was the son of a widow woman of the tribe of Naphtali, and his father was a man of Tyre, a worker in brass; and he was filled with wisdom and understanding and cunning, to work all works in brass. And he came to king Solomon, and wrought all his work.
15 Ainsi, il fit deux colonnes d’airain, chaque colonne de dix-huit coudées de hauteur; et une ligne de douze coudées entourait l’une et l’autre colonne.
For he fashioned the two pillars of brass, of eighteen cubits high apiece: and a line of twelve cubits compassed either of them about.
16 Il fit aussi deux chapiteaux d’airain, jetés en fonte, lesquels devaient être placés sur la tête des colonnes: un chapiteau était de cinq coudées de hauteur, et l’autre chapiteau de cinq coudées de hauteur,
And he made two chapiters of molten brass, to set upon the tops of the pillars: the height of the one chapiter was five cubits, and the height of the other chapiter was five cubits.
17 Et en forme de rets et de chaînes entrelacées l’une dans l’autre avec un art admirable. Les deux chapiteaux des colonnes étaient jetés en fonte; il y avait sept rangs de réseaux à un chapiteau, et sept rangs de réseaux à l’autre chapiteau.
There were nets of checker work, and wreaths of chain work, for the chapiters which were upon the top of the pillars; seven for the one chapiter, and seven for the other chapiter.
18 Et il fit les colonnes et deux rangs autour de chacun des réseaux, pour qu’ils couvrissent les chapiteaux qui étaient sur le sommet des grenades: c’est de cette manière qu’il fit pour le second chapiteau.
So he made the pillars; and there were two rows round about upon the one network, to cover the chapiters that were upon the top of the pillars: and so did he for the other chapiter.
19 Mais les chapiteaux qui étaient au haut des colonnes, dans le parvis, étaient faits en façon de lis, de quatre coudées.
And the chapiters that were upon the top of the pillars in the porch were of lily work, four cubits.
20 Et il y avait encore d’autres chapiteaux, au sommet des colonnes, au-dessus, selon la mesure de la colonne, contre les réseaux: mais les grenades, au nombre de deux cents, étaient disposées en rangs autour du second chapiteau.
And there were chapiters above also upon the two pillars, close by the belly which was beside the network: and the pomegranates were two hundred, in rows round about upon the other chapiter.
21 Et il plaça les deux colonnes dans le portique du temple, et lorsqu’il eut placé la colonne droite, il l’appela du nom de Jachin: il érigea de même la seconde colonne, et il lui donna le nom de Booz.
And he set up the pillars at the porch of the temple: and he set up the right pillar, and called the name thereof Jachin: and he set up the left pillar, and called the name thereof Boaz.
22 Et sur la tête des colonnes, il mit l’ouvrage fait en forme de lis; et l’ouvrage des colonnes fut achevé.
And upon the top of the pillars was lily work: so was the work of the pillars finished.
23 Il fit aussi la grande mer jetée en fonte, de dix coudées d’un bord jusqu’à l’autre bord: elle était toute ronde: sa hauteur avait cinq coudées, et un cordon de trente coudées l’environnait tout autour.
And he made the molten sea of ten cubits from brim to brim, round in compass, and the height thereof was five cubits: and a line of thirty cubits compassed it round about.
24 Et une sculpture au-dessous du bord entourait cette mer, l’environnant dans l’espace de dix coudées; deux rangs de sculptures striées avaient été jetées en fonte.
And under the brim of it round about there were knops which did compass it, for ten cubits, compassing the sea round about: the knops were in two rows, cast when it was cast.
25 Et cette mer était posée sur douze bœufs, dont trois regardaient l’aquilon, trois l’occident, trois le midi et trois l’orient; et la mer était sur ces bœufs, dont toute la partie de derrière était cachée en dedans.
It stood upon twelve oxen, three looking toward the north, and three looking toward the west, and three looking toward the south, and three looking toward the east: and the sea was set upon them above, and all their hinder parts were inward.
26 Or, l’épaisseur du bassin était de trois pouces, et son bord, comme le bord d’une coupe et comme la feuille d’un lis épanoui; il contenait deux mille bats.
And it was an handbreadth thick; and the brim thereof was wrought like the brim of a cup, like the flower of a lily: it held two thousand baths.
27 Il fit aussi dix bases d’airain, chacune de quatre coudées de longueur, de quatre coudées de largeur et de trois coudées de hauteur.
And he made the ten bases of brass; four cubits was the length of one base, and four cubits the breadth thereof, and three cubits the height of it.
28 L’ouvrage lui-même des bases était à jour, et il y avait des sculptures entre les jointures;
And the work of the bases was on this manner: they had borders; and there were borders between the ledges:
29 Et entre les couronnes et les entre-lacs, des lions, des bœufs et des chérubins; et dans les jointures également au-dessus et au-dessous, des lions, des bœufs, et comme des courroies d’airain qui pendaient.
and on the borders that were between the ledges were lions, oxen, and cherubim; and upon the ledges there was a pedestal above: and beneath the lions and oxen were wreaths of hanging work.
30 Et à chaque base étaient quatre roues d’airain et des essieux d’airain; et aux quatre côtés au-dessous du bassin, comme de petites épaules jetées en fonte, et se regardant l’une l’autre.
And every base had four brasen wheels, and axles of brass: and the four feet thereof had undersetters: beneath the laver were the undersetters molten, with wreaths at the side of each.
31 De plus, l’ouverture du bassin en dedans était à son extrémité supérieure: ce qui en paraissait au dehors était d’une coudée et tout rond, et le tout avait une coudée et demie; mais dans les angles des colonnes, il y avait diverses ciselures, et les entre-colonnements étaient carrés et non ronds.
And the mouth of it within the chapiter and above was a cubit: and the mouth thereof was round after the work of a pedestal, a cubit and an half: and also upon the mouth of it were gravings, and their borders were foursquare, not round.
32 Les quatre roues aussi, qui étaient aux quatre angles de la base, se joignaient ensemble par-dessous la base; chaque roue avait de hauteur une coudée et demie.
And the four wheels were underneath the borders; and the axletrees of the wheels were in the base: and the height of a wheel was a cubit and half a cubit.
33 Or, les roues étaient telles qu’elles ont coutume de se faire à un char; et leurs essieux, leurs rais, leurs jantes et leurs moyeux avaient été tous jetés en fonte.
And the work of the wheels was like the work of a chariot wheel: their axletrees, and their felloes, and their spokes, and their naves, were all molten.
34 Et ces quatre petites épaules aussi, qui étaient à chacun des quatre angles de chaque base, avaient été fondues de la base même, et y étaient jointes.
And there were four undersetters at the four corners of each base: the undersetters thereof were of the base itself.
35 Au haut de la base il y avait un certain rond d’une demi-coudée, travaillé de manière que le bassin pût y être placé dessus; il avait ses ciselures et diverses sculptures qui saillaient.
And in the top of the base was there a round compass of half a cubit high: and on the top of the base the stays thereof and the borders thereof were of the same.
36 Hiram grava de plus dans les entre-deux des jointures, qui étaient d’airain, et aux angles, des chérubins, des lions et des palmes, comme un homme qui est debout, en sorte que ces choses paraissaient, non point ciselées, mais ajoutées tout autour.
And on the plates of the stays thereof, and on the borders thereof, he graved cherubim, lions, and palm tress, according to the space of each, with wreaths round about.
37 Il fit de cette manière les dix bases d’une même fonte, de même mesure, et de sculpture entièrement semblable.
After this manner he made the ten bases: all of them had one casting, one measure, and one form.
38 Il fit aussi dix bassins d’airain; chaque bassin contenait quarante bats et était de quatre coudées; et il posa chaque bassin sur chaque, c’est-à-dire, sur les dix bases.
And he made ten lavers of brass: one laver contained forty baths: and every laver was four cubits: and upon every one of the ten bases one laver.
39 Et il plaça les dix bases, cinq à la partie de droite du temple, et cinq à la gauche; mais la mer, il la posa à la partie droite du temple, contre l’orient, vers le midi.
And he set the bases, five on the right side of the house, and five on the left side of the house: and he set the sea on the right side of the house eastward, toward the south.
40 Hiram fit aussi les chaudières, les écuelles et les petits seaux, et il acheva tout l’ouvrage du roi Salomon dans le temple du Seigneur.
And Hiram made the lavers, and the shovels, and the basons. So Hiram made an end of doing all the work that he wrought for king Solomon in the house of the LORD:
41 Il fit deux colonnes et les deux cordons des chapiteaux sur les chapiteaux des colonnes; et les deux réseaux, pour couvrir les deux cordons qui étaient sur les chapiteaux des colonnes;
the two pillars, and the two bowls of the chapiters that were on the top of the pillars; and the two networks to cover the two bowls of the chapiters that were on the top of the pillars;
42 Et les quatre cents grenades dans les deux réseaux, deux rangs de grenades dans chaque réseau, pour couvrir les cordons des chapiteaux qui étaient sur les sommets des colonnes;
and the four hundred pomegranates for the two networks; two rows of pomegranates for each network, to cover the two bowls of the chapiters that were upon the pillars;
43 Et les dix bases, et les dix bassins sur les bases;
and the ten bases, and the ten lavers on the bases;
44 Et la mer unique, et les douze bœufs sous la mer;
and the one sea, and the twelve oxen under the sea;
45 Et les chaudières, et les écuelles et les petits seaux: tous les vases qu’Hiram fit au roi Salomon pour la maison du Seigneur, étaient d’airain fin,
and the pots, and the shovels, and the basons: even all these vessels, which Hiram made for king Solomon, in the house of the LORD, were of burnished brass.
46 C’est dans le pays plat du Jourdain que le roi les fit fondre dans la terre argileuse, entre Sochoth et Sarthan.
In the Plain of Jordan did the king cast them, in the clay ground between Succoth and Zarethan.
47 Et Salomon plaça tous les vases; mais, à cause de leur multitude, on ne pesa pas l’airain.
And Solomon left all the vessels [unweighed], because they were exceeding many: the weight of the brass could not be found out.
48 Et Salomon fit tous les vases pour la maison du Seigneur, l’autel d’or, et la table d’or, sur laquelle devaient être placés les pains de proposition;
And Solomon made all the vessels that were in the house of the LORD: the golden altar, and the table whereupon the shewbread was, of gold;
49 Et les chandeliers d’or, cinq à droite et cinq à gauche, contre l’oracle, d’or pur; de même que les fleurs de lis et les lampes d’or au-dessus, et aussi les pincettes d’or,
and the candlesticks, five on the right side, and five on the left, before the oracle, of pure gold; and the flowers, and the lamps, and the tongs, of gold;
50 Les cruches, les fourchettes, les patères, les petits mortiers et les encensoirs, d’un or très pur: les gonds des portes de la maison intérieure du Saint des saints, et des portes de la maison du temple, étaient d’or.
and the cups, and the snuffers, and basons, and the spoons, and the firepans, of pure gold; and the hinges, both for the doors of the inner house, the most holy place, and for the doors of the house, [to wit], of the temple, of gold.
51 Ainsi Salomon acheva tout ce qu’il faisait pour la maison du Seigneur, et il porta ce que David son père avait consacré à Dieu, l’argent, l’or et les vases, et il les déposa dans les trésors de la maison du Seigneur.
Thus all the work that king Solomon wrought in the house of the LORD was finished. And Solomon brought in the things which David his father had dedicated, [even] the silver, and the gold, and the vessels, and put them in the treasuries of the house of the LORD.
