1 Rois 18
1 Après bien des jours, la parole de Dieu fut adressée à Elie, en la troisième année, disant: Va, et montre-toi à Achab, afin que je donne de la pluie sur la surface de la terre.
And it was days many and [the] word of Yahweh it came to Elijah in the year third saying go present yourself to Ahab so let me give rain on [the] surface of the ground.
2 Elie alla donc pour se montrer à Achab; cependant la famine était grande dans Samarie.
And he went Elijah to present himself to Ahab and the famine [was] severe in Samaria.
3 Et Achab appela Abdias, intendant de sa maison; mais Abdias craignait fort le Seigneur;
And he summoned Ahab Obadiah who [was] over the household and Obadiah he was fearing Yahweh exceedingly.
4 Car, lorsque Jézabel tuait les prophètes du Seigneur, lui prit cent prophètes qu’il cacha dans les cavernes, cinquante dans l’une et cinquante dans l’autre, et il les nourrit de pain et d’eau.
And it was when cut off Jezebel [the] prophets of Yahweh and he took Obadiah one hundred prophets and he hid them fifty man in the cave and he supplied them food and water.
5 Achab dit donc à Abdias: Va dans le pays, à toutes les sources d’eaux et à toutes les vallées, pour voir si nous pourrons trouver de l’herbe, sauver des chevaux et des mulets, et si les bêtes ne périront pas totalement.
And he said Ahab to Obadiah go in the land to all [the] springs of water and to all the wadis perhaps - we will find grass so we may preserve alive horse and mule and not we will cut off any of the livestock.
6 Ils se partagèrent donc les contrées pour les parcourir: Achab allait par une voie, et Abdias par une autre séparément.
And they divided to themselves the land to pass in it Ahab he went in a direction one to only him and Obadiah he went in a direction one to only him.
7 Et lorsque Abdias était en chemin, Elle vint à sa rencontre: lorsque Abdias l’eut reconnu, il tomba sur sa face et dit: Est-ce vous, Elie, mon seigneur?
And he was Obadiah on the way and there! Elijah to meet him and he recognized him and he fell on face his and he said ¿ you [is] this O lord my Elijah.
8 Il lui répondit: C’est moi. Va, et dis à ton maître: Elie est là.
And he said to him [it is] I go say to master your here! Elijah.
9 Alors Abdias: En quoi ai-je péché, dit-il, puisque vous me livrez, moi, votre serviteur, à la main d’Achab, pour qu’il me tue?
And he said what? have I sinned that you [are] giving servant your in [the] hand of Ahab to put to death me.
10 Le Seigneur votre Dieu vit! il n’y a point de nation ou de royaume où mon seigneur n’ait envoyé, vous cherchant, et, tous lui répondant: Il n’est pas ici, il a adjuré chaque royaume et chaque nation que vous n’aviez pas été trouvé.
[by] [the] life - Of Yahweh God your if there [is] a nation and a kingdom where not he has sent master my there to seek you and they said not and he made swear the kingdom and the nation that not it has found you.
11 Et vous maintenant vous me dites: Va, et dis à ton maître: Elie est là.
And now you [are] saying go say to master your here! Elijah.
12 Et lorsque je me serai éloigné devons, l’Esprit du Seigneur vous transportera en un lieu que j’ignore; et étant entré, j’avertirai Achab, et ne vous trouvant pas, il me tuera: or votre serviteur craint le Seigneur depuis son enfance.
And it will be I - I will go from with you and [the] spirit of Yahweh - it will carry away you to where not I know and I will go to tell to Ahab and not he will find you and he will kill me and servant your [is] fearing Yahweh since youth my.
13 Ne vous a-t-on pas rapporté, à vous, mon seigneur, ce que je fis lorsque Jézabel tuait les prophètes du Seigneur, et que je cachai d’entre les prophètes du Seigneur, cent hommes dans les cavernes, cinquante puis cinquante, et que je les nourris de pain et d’eau?
¿ Not has it been told to lord my [that] which I did when killed Jezebel [the] prophets of Yahweh and I hid of [the] prophets of Yahweh one hundred man fifty fifty man in the cave and I supplied them food and water.
14 Et vous maintenant, vous me dites: Va, et dis à ton maître: Elie est là; est-ce pour qu’il me tue?
And now you [are] saying go say to master your here! Elijah and he will kill me.
15 Et Elie lui répondit: Il vit le Seigneur des armées, devant le visage duquel je suis! je paraîtrai aujourd’hui devant Achab.
And he said Elijah [by] [the] life of Yahweh of hosts whom I stand before him for this day I will present myself to him.
16 Abdias alla donc à la rencontre d’Achab, et l’avertit; et Achab vint à la rencontre d’Elie.
And he went Obadiah to meet Ahab and he told to him and he went Ahab to meet Elijah.
17 Et lorsqu’il le vit, il demanda: Es-tu celui qui troubles Israël?
And it was when saw Ahab Elijah and he said Ahab to him ¿ you [is] this O [one who] troubles Israel.
18 Et Elie lui répondit: Ce n’est pas moi qui ai troublé Israël, mais vous et la maison de votre père, qui avez abandonné les commandements du Seigneur, et qui avez suivi Baal.
And he said not I have troubled Israel that except you and [the] household of father your because have forsaken you [the] commandments of Yahweh and you have walked after the Baals.
19 Cependant envoyez maintenant, et faites assembler devant moi tout Israël sur la montagne du Carmel, et les quatre cent cinquante prophètes de Baal, et les quatre cents prophètes des bois sacrés qui mangent de la table Jézabel.
And now send gather to me all Israel to [the] mountain of Carmel and [the] prophets of Baal four hundred and fifty and [the] prophets of Asherah four hundred [who] eat of [the] table of Jezebel.
20 Achab envoya vers tous les enfants d’Israël, et il assembla les prophètes sur la montagne du Carmel.
And he sent Ahab among all [the] people of Israel and he gathered the prophets to [the] mountain of Carmel.
21 Or Elie, s’approchant de tout le peuple, dit: Jusqu’à quand boiterez-vous des deux côtés? Si le Seigneur est Dieu, suivez-le; mais si c’est Baal, suivez-le. Et le peuple ne lui répondit pas un mot.
And he drew near Elijah to all the people and he said until when? [will] you [be] limping on [the] two the crutches if Yahweh [is] God walk after him and if Baal walk after him and not they answered the people him a word.
22 Et Elie dit encore au peuple: Moi, prophète du Seigneur, je suis demeuré seul; mais les prophètes de Baal sont quatre cent cinquante hommes.
And he said Elijah to the people I I am left a prophet of Yahweh to alone me and [the] prophets of Baal [are] four hundred and fifty man.
23 Qu’on nous donne deux bœufs, et qu’eux se choisissent un bœuf, et que le coupant par morceaux, ils le mettent sur le bois, et qu’ils ne mettent point de feu dessous; et moi je sacrifierai l’autre bœuf, je le mettrai aussi sur le bois, mais je ne mettrai point de feu dessous.
And let people give to us two young bulls and let them choose for themselves the young bull one and let them cut in pieces it and they may put on the wood and fire not they will set and I I will prepare - the young bull one and I will put on the wood and fire not I will set.
24 Invoquez les noms de vos dieux, et moi, j’invoquerai le nom de mon Seigneur; et que le Dieu qui exaucera par le feu, soit, lui seul, Dieu. Tout le peuple répondant, dit: La proposition est très bonne.
And you will call on [the] name of god your and I I will call on [the] name of Yahweh and he will be the god who he will answer by fire he God and it answered all the people and they said [is] good the word.
25 Elie dit donc aux prophètes de Baal: Choisissez-vous un bœuf, et sacrifiez les premiers, parce que vous êtes en plus grand nombre, et invoquez les noms de vos dieux; mais ne mettez point de feu dessous.
And he said Elijah to [the] prophets of Baal choose for yourselves the young bull one and prepare [it] first for you [are] the many and call on [the] name of god your and fire not you will set.
26 Lorsqu’ils eurent pris le bœuf qu’il leur avait donné, ils sacrifièrent, et ils invoquaient le nom de Baal depuis le matin jusqu’à midi, disant: Baal, exaucez-nous. Mais il n’y avait point de voix, ni personne qui répondît: cependant ils sautaient par-dessus l’autel qu’ils avaient fait.
And they took the young bull which someone gave to them and they prepared [it] and they called on [the] name of Baal from the morning and until the noontide saying O Baal answer us and there not [was] a sound and there not [was one who] answered and they limped around at the altar which he had made.
27 Et comme il était déjà midi, Elie les raillait, disant: Criez plus haut, car il est Dieu, et il parla peut-être à quelqu’un, ou il est dans une hôtellerie, ou en chemin, ou du moins il dort, qu’on le réveille.
And it was at the noontide and he mocked them Elijah and he said call out with a voice great for [is] a god he for musing and for a going away [belongs] to him and for a journey [belongs] to him perhaps [is] sleeping he so he may awake.
28 Ils criaient donc à haute voix, et ils se faisaient des incisions, selon leur coutume, avec leurs couteaux et leurs lancettes, jusqu’à ce qu’ils fussent couverts de sang.
And they called out with a voice great and they cut themselves according to custom their with swords and with lances until poured out blood over them.
29 Mais après que midi fut passé, et, qu’eux prophétisant, fut venu le temps auquel le sacrifice avait coutume d’être offert, comme aucune voix n’était entendue, et que personne ne répondait et n’était attentif à ceux qui priaient,
And it was when passed the noontide and they prophesied until goes up the offering and there not [was] a sound and there not [was one who] answered and there not [was] attention.
30 Elie dit à tout le peuple: Venez vers moi. Et le peuple s’étant approché de lui, il rétablit l’autel du Seigneur, qui avait été détruit.
And he said Elijah to all the people draw near to me and they drew near all the people to him and he repaired [the] altar of Yahweh that was torn down.
31 Et il prit douze pierres, selon le nombre des tribus des enfants de Jacob, à qui avait été adressée la parole du Seigneur, disant: Israël sera ton nom.
And he took Elijah two [plus] ten stones according to [the] number of [the] tribes of [the] sons of Jacob whom it had come [the] word of Yahweh to him saying Israel it will be name your.
32 Et il bâtit de ces pierres un autel au nom du Seigneur; il fit une rigole, comme entre deux petits sillons autour de l’autel.
And he built the stones an altar in [the] name of Yahweh and he made a trench like a receptacle of two seahs seed around the altar.
33 Et il rangea le bois, et il coupa le bœuf par morceaux et le mit sur le bois,
And he arranged the wood and he cut it in pieces the young bull and he put [it] on the wood. And he said fill four jars water and pour [it] on the burnt offering and on the wood
34 Et il dit: Remplissez quatre cruches d’eau, et répandez-les sur l’holocauste et sur le bois. Et de nouveau il dit: Faites encore cela une seconde fois. Et lorsqu’ils l’eurent fait une seconde fois, il dit: Faites encore cette même chose une troisième fois. Et ils la firent une troisième fois,
and he said do again and they did again and he said do a third time and they did a third time.
35 Et les eaux couraient autour de l’autel, et la fosse de la rigole était remplie.
And they went the waters around the altar and also the trench he filled water.
36 Et lorsque déjà il était temps que l’holocauste fût offert, Elie le prophète s’approchant, dit: Seigneur Dieu d’Abraham, d’Isaac et de Jacob, montrez aujourd’hui que vous êtes le Dieu d’Israël, et que moi je suis votre serviteur, et que c’est par votre ordre que j’ai fait toutes ces choses.
And it was - when went up the offering and he drew near Elijah the prophet and he said O Yahweh [the] God of Abraham Isaac and Israel this day let it be known that you [are] God in Israel and I [am] servant your (and at word your *Q(K)*) I have done all the things these.
37 Exaucez-moi, Seigneur, exaucez-moi, afin que ce peuple apprenne que vous êtes le Seigneur Dieu, et que c’est vous qui avez converti leur cœur de nouveau.
Answer me O Yahweh answer me so they may know the people this that you O Yahweh [are] God and you you have turned around heart their backwards.
38 Or le feu du Seigneur tomba, et dévora l’holocauste, le bois et les pierres, la poussière même, et l’eau qui était dans la rigole autour de l’autel.
And it fell [the] fire of Yahweh and it consumed the burnt offering and the wood and the stones and the dust and the water which [was] in the trench it licked up.
39 Ce que tout le peuple ayant vu, il tomba sur sa face, et dit: C’est le Seigneur qui est Dieu, c’est le Seigneur qui est Dieu.
And it saw all the people and they fell on faces their and they said Yahweh he [is] God Yahweh he [is] God.
40 Alors Elie leur dit: Prenez les prophètes de Baal, et qu’il n’en échappe pas même un seul d’entre eux. Lorsqu’ils les eurent pris, Elie les mena au torrent de Cison, et il les tua là.
And he said Elijah to them seize - [the] prophets of Baal anyone may not he escape of them and they seized them and he brought down them Elijah to [the] wadi of Kishon and he slaughtered them there.
41 Ensuite Elie dit à Achab: Montez, mangez et buvez; car voici le bruit de la grande pluie.
And he said Elijah to Ahab go up eat and drink for [the] sound of [the] noise of rain.
42 Achab monta pour manger et pour boire. Or Elie monta sur le sommet du Carmel, et incliné vers la terre, il mit sa face entre ses genoux,
And he went up Ahab to eat and to drink and Elijah he went up to [the] top of Carmel and he crouched [the] ground towards and he put face his between (knees his. *Q(K)*)
43 Et il dit à son serviteur: Monte, et regarde contre la mer. Lorsque celui-ci eut monté et regardé, il dit: Il n’y a rien. Et de nouveau Elie lui dit: Retourne par sept fois.
And he said to servant his go up please look [the] direction of [the] sea and he went up and he looked and he said there not [is] anything and he said go back seven times.
44 Mais la septième fois, voilà qu’un petit nuage, comme une trace de pied d’homme, s’élevait de la mer. Elie dit: Monte, et dis à Achab: Attelez votre char, et descendez pour ne pas que la pluie vous surprenne.
And it was at the seventh [time] and he said there! a cloud small like [the] hand of a person [is] coming up from [the] sea and he said go up say to Ahab harness and go down and not it will hold back you the rain.
45 Et comme il se tournait d’un côté et d’un autre, voilà les cieux couverts de ténèbres, et des nuées, et un vent, et une grande pluie. Montant donc, Achab s’en alla à Jezrahel:
And it was - until thus and until thus and the heavens they grew dark clouds and wind and it was rain great and he rode Ahab and he went Jezreel towards.
46 Et la main du Seigneur fut sur Elie; et, les reins ceints, il courait devant Achab, jusqu’à ce qu’il vînt à Jezrahel.
And [the] hand of Yahweh it was to Elijah and he girded up loins his and he ran before Ahab until coming you Jezreel towards.
