1 Chroniques 5
1 Voici les fils de Ruben, premier-né d’Israël (car c’est lui qui était son premier-né; mais lorsqu’il eut violé le lit nuptial de son père, son droit d’aînesse fut donné aux fils de Joseph, fils d’Israël; et Ruben ne fut plus réputé premier-né.
And the sons of Reuben the firstborn of Israel, for, he, was the firstborn, but because he defiled the couch of his father, his birthright was given to the sons of Joseph son of Israel, —and he is not to be enrolled in the place of firstborn,
2 Quant à Juda, qui était le plus vaillant parmi ses frères, des princes ont germé de son tronc; mais le droit d’aînesse fut attribué à Joseph).
for, Judah, prevailed over his brethren, so that, even the prince, is from him, —although, the birthright, pertaineth to Joseph;
3 Voici donc les fils de Ruben, premier-né d’Israël: Enoch et Phallu, Esron et Carmi.
the sons of Reuben the firstborn of Israel, Hanoch and Pallu, Hezron and Carmi.
4 Les fils de Joël: Samaïa, dont le fils, Gog, dont le fils, Séméi,
The sons of Joel, Shemaiah his son, Gog his son, Shimei his son;
5 Dont le fils, Micha, dont le fils, Réia, dont le fils, Baal,
Micah his son, Reaiah his son, Baal his son;
6 Dont le fils, Bééra, que Thelgathphalnasar, roi des Assyriens, emmena captif, et qui fut prince dans la tribu de Ruben.
Beerah his son, whom Tilgath-pilneser king of Assyria carried away captive, —he, was a leader to the Reubenites;
7 Mais ses frères et toute sa parenté, quand ils furent dénombrés, avaient pour chefs Jéhiel et Zacharie.
and his brethren, by his families, in the genealogical registering, by their generations, —the chief Jeiel, and Zechariah;
8 Or Bala, fils d’Azaz, fils de Samma, fils de Joël, habita lui-même à Aroër, jusqu’à Nébo et Béelméon.
and Bela, the son of Azaz, the son of Shema, the son of Joel, —he, dwelt in Aroer, even as far as Nebo, and Baal-meon;
9 Il habita aussi contre le côté oriental jusqu’à l’entrée du désert et jusqu’au fleuve d’Euphrate; car ils possédaient un grand nombre de bestiaux dans la terre de Galaad.
and, eastward, dwelt he as far as the entering in of the desert, from the river Euphrates, —because, their cattle, were multiplied in the land of Gilead;
10 Mais, dans les jours de Saül, ils combattirent contre les Agaréens, les tuèrent et habitèrent en leur place dans leurs tabernacles, dans toute la contrée qui regarde Galaad.
and, in the days of Saul, they made war with the Hagrites, who fell by their hand, —so they dwelt in their tents, over all the face of the land east of Gilead.
11 Quant aux enfants de Gad, ils habitèrent vis-à-vis d’eux dans la terre de Basan, jusqu’à Selcha.
And, the sons of Gad, over against them, dwelt, in the land of Bashan, as far as Salecah:
12 Joël était à la tête, et Saphan, le second; mais Janaï et Saphat dans Basan.
Joel the chief, and Shapham, the second, —and Janai and Shaphat, in Bashan;
13 Et leurs frères, selon les maisons de leur parenté, étaient Michaël, Mosollam, Sébé, Joraï, Jachan, Zié et Héber, sept en tout.
and their brethren of their ancestral house, Michael and Meshullam and Sheba and Jorai and Jacan and Zia and Eber, seven.
14 Ceux-ci furent fils d’Abihaïl, fils d’Huri, fils de Jara, fils de Galaad, fils de Michaël, fils de Jésési, fils de Jeddo, fils de Buz.
These, were the sons of Abihail, son of Huri, son of Jaroah, son of Gilead, son of Michael, son of Jehishai, son of Jahdo, son of Buz,
15 Leurs frères furent encore les fils d’Abdiel, fils de Guni, chacun chef de maison dans ses familles.
Ahi son of Abdiel, son of Guni, chief of their ancestral house;
16 Et ils habitèrent en Galaad, dans Basan, et ses bourgades, et dans tous les faubourgs de Saron, jusqu’aux limites.
and they dwelt in Gilead—in Bashan, and in her villages, —and in all the pasture-lands of Sharon, up to their outgoings.
17 Tous ceux-ci furent dénombrés dans les jours de Joathan, roi de Juda, et dans les jours de Jéroboam, roi d’Israël.
All of them, were genealogically registered in the days of Jotham king of Judah, —and in the days of Jeroboam king of Israel.
18 Les enfants de Ruben, de Gad, et de la demi-tribu de Manassé, furent des gens de guerre, portant des boucliers et des glaives, tendant l’arc, et formés aux combats, au nombre de quarante-quatre mille sept cent soixante, marchant à la bataille.
the sons of Reuben and Gad, and half tribe of Manasseh, of the sons of valour, men bearing shield and sword and bending the bow, and instructed in war, were forty-four thousand and seven hundred and sixty, ready to go forth in the host.
19 Ils combattirent contre les Agaréens; mais les Ituréens, Naphis et Nodab
So they made war with the Hagrites, —and Jetur and Naphish, and Nodab;
20 Leur donnèrent du secours. Et les Agaréens furent livrés entre leurs mains, ainsi que tous ceux qui avaient été avec eux, parce qu’ils invoquèrent Dieu, lorsqu’ils combattaient; et il les exauça, parce qu’ils avaient cru en lui.
and were helped against them, and the Hagrites and all that were with them were delivered into their hand, —for, unto God, made they outcry, in the war, and he suffered himself to be entreated by them, because they put their trust in him;
21 Et ils prirent tout ce que possédaient ces peuples: cinquante mille chameaux, deux cent cinquante mille brebis, deux mille ânes, et cent mille âmes d’hommes.
and they captured their cattle—their camels, fifty thousand, and, flocks, two hundred and fifty thousand, and, asses, two thousand, —and, persons of men, a hundred thousand;
22 De plus, beaucoup de blessés succombèrent: car c’était la guerre du Seigneur. Et ils habitèrent là en leur place jusqu’à la transmigration.
for, many slain, fell, for, of God, was the war, —and they dwelt in their stead, until the captivity.
23 Les enfants de la demi-tribu de Manassé aussi possédèrent le pays depuis les confins de Basan jusqu’à Baal, Hermon et Sanir, et la montagne d’Hermon, parce que leur nombre était grand.
And, the sons of the half tribe of Manasseh, dwelt in the land, —from Bashan, as far as to Baal-hermon and Senir and Mount Hermon, they, were multiplied.
24 Et voici les princes de la maison de leur parenté: Epher, Jési, Eliel, Ezriel, Jérémie, Odoïa, et Jédiel, hommes très braves, et puissants, et princes renommés dans leurs familles.
And, these, were the heads of their ancestral house, —Epher and Ishi and Eliel and Azriel and Jeremiah and Hodaviah and Jahdiel, men who were heroes of valour, men of renown, chiefs to their ancestral house.
25 Cependant ils abandonnèrent le Dieu de leurs pères, et forniquèrent, en allant après les dieux des peuples de ce pays que Dieu avait détruits devant eux.
But they dealt unfaithfully with the God of their fathers, —and went unchastely after the gods of the peoples of the land, whom God destroyed from before them;
26 Mais le Dieu d’Israël suscita l’esprit de Phul, roi des Assyriens, et l’esprit de Thelgathphalnasar, roi d’Assur; et il transféra Ruben, Gad et la demi-tribu de Manassé, et les emmena à Lahéla, à Habor, à Ara, et sur le fleuve de Gozan, jusqu’à ce jour.
so the God of Israel stirred up the spirit of Pul king of Assyria, and the spirit of Tilgath-pilneser king of Assyria, and he took them away captive, even the Reubenites and the Gadites and the half tribe of Manasseh, —and brought them in unto Halah, and Habor, and Hara, and to the river of Gozan, unto this day.
