1 Chroniques 28

1 David convoqua donc tous les princes d’Israël, les chefs des tribus et les préposés de ses troupes, lesquels servaient le roi; comme aussi les tribuns et les centurions, et ceux qui étaient à la tête des biens et des possessions du roi, ses enfants avec les eunuques, les puissants; de même que les plus vigoureux dans l’armée, et les réunit à Jérusalem.

And David assembleth all the heads of Israel, heads of the tribes, and heads of the courses who are serving the king, and heads of the thousands, and heads of the hundreds, and heads of all the substance and possessions of the king, and of his sons, with the officers and the mighty ones, even to every mighty one of valour — unto Jerusalem.

2 Alors le roi, s’étant levé et se tenant debout, dit: Ecoutez-moi, mes frères et mon peuple: j’ai pensé à bâtir une maison dans laquelle reposerait l’arche de l’alliance du Seigneur, l’escabeau des pieds de notre Dieu, et, pour la bâtir, j’ai tout préparé.

And David the king riseth on his feet, and saith, 'Hear me, my brethren and my people, I — with my heart — to build a house of rest for the ark of the covenant of Jehovah, and for the footstool of our God, and I prepared to build,

3 Mais Dieu m’a dit: Tu ne bâtiras point une maison à mon nom, parce que tu es un homme de guerre, et que tu as versé le sang.

and God hath said to me, Thou dost not build a house to My name, for a man of wars thou [art], and blood thou hast shed.

4 Cependant le Seigneur Dieu d’Israël m’a choisi dans toute la maison de mon père pour que je fusse roi sur Israël à jamais; car c’est dans Juda qu’il a choisi des princes: en outre c’est dans la maison de Juda qu’il a choisi la maison de mon père, et entre les fils de mon père, il lui a plu de me choisir pour roi sur tout Israël.

'And Jehovah, God of Israel, doth fix on me out of all the house of my father to be for king over Israel to the age, for on Judah He hath fixed for a leader, and in the house of Judah, the house of my father, and among the sons of my father, on me, [me] He hath been pleased to make king over all Israel;

5 Mais c’est aussi parmi mes fils (car le Seigneur m’a donné beaucoup de fils) qu’il a choisi Salomon, mon fils, pour qu’il s’assît sur le trône du règne du Seigneur sur Israël;

and out of all my sons — for many sons hath Jehovah given to me — He also fixeth on Solomon my son, to sit on the throne of the kingdom of Jehovah over Israel,

6 Et il m’a dit: Salomon, ton fils, bâtira ma maison et mes parvis; car c’est lui que j’ai choisi pour mon fils, et c’est moi qui serai son père.

and saith to me, Solomon thy son, he doth build My house, and My courts, for I have fixed on him to Me for a son, and I — I am to him for a father,

7 Et j’affermirai son règne à jamais, s’il persévère à accomplir mes préceptes et mes ordonnances comme aujourd’hui même.

and I have established his kingdom to the age, if he is strong to do My commands, and My judgments, as at this day.

8 Maintenant donc, devant toute l’assemblée d’Israël, et notre Dieu l’entendant, gardez et recherchez tous les commandements du Seigneur notre Dieu, afin que vous possédiez la terre qui est remplie de biens, et que vous la laissiez à vos fils après vous pour jamais.

'And now, before the eyes of all Israel, the assembly of Jehovah, and in the ears of our God, keep and seek all the commands of Jehovah your God, so that ye possess this good land, and have caused your sons to inherit after you unto the age.

9 Et toi, Salomon, mon fils, connais le Dieu de ton père, et sers-le, avec un cœur parfait et un esprit qui agit volontairement; car le Seigneur scrute tous les cœurs et pénètre toutes les pensées des esprits. Si tu le cherches, tu le trouveras; mais si tu l’abandonnes, il te rejettera pour jamais.

'And thou, Solomon, my son, know the God of thy father, and serve Him with a perfect heart, and with a willing mind, for all hearts is Jehovah seeking, and every imagination of the thoughts He is understanding; if thou dost seek Him, He is found of thee, and if thou dost forsake Him, He casteth thee off for ever.

10 Maintenant donc que le Seigneur t’a choisi pour bâtir la maison du sanctuaire, sois fort, et agis.

See, now, for Jehovah hath fixed on thee to build a house for a sanctuary; be strong, and do.'

11 Or David donna à Salomon, son fils, le plan du portique du temple, des celliers, du cénacle, des chambres secrètes, de la maison de propitiation;

And David giveth to Solomon his son the pattern of the porch, and of its houses, and of its treasures, and of its upper chambers, and of its innermost chambers, and of the house of the atonement;

12 Comme aussi de tous les parvis qu’il avait en vue, des chambres tout autour, pour les trésors de la maison du Seigneur, et pour les trésors des choses saintes;

and the pattern of all that hath been by the Spirit with him, for the courts of the house of Jehovah, and for all the chambers round about, for the treasures of the house of God, and for the treasures of the things sacrificed;

13 De la distribution des prêtres et des Lévites pour tous les ouvrages de la maison du Seigneur, et pour le soin de tous les vases consacrés au service du temple du Seigneur.

and for the courses of the priests and of the Levites, and for all the work of the service of the house of Jehovah, and for all vessels of service of the house of Jehovah,

14 Il lui donna l’or, selon le poids voulu, pour chaque vase de service; de plus, le poids de l’argent, selon la diversité des vases et des ouvrages en argent,

even gold by weight, for [things of] gold, for all instruments of service and service; for all instruments of silver by weight, for all instruments of service and service;

15 Et encore l’or pour les chandeliers d’or et pour leurs lampes, selon la mesure de chaque chandelier et des lampes. De même aussi pour les chandeliers d’argent et pour leurs lampes, il remit le poids de l’argent, selon la diversité de leur mesure.

and [by] weight for the candlesticks of gold, and their lamps of gold, by weight [for] candlestick and candlestick, and its lamps; and for the candlesticks of silver, by weight for a candlestick and its lamps, according to the service of candlestick and candlestick;

16 Il donna encore l’or pour les tables de proposition, selon la diversité des tables, et également de l’argent, pour les autres tables d’argent.

and the gold [by] weight for tables of the arrangement, for table and table, and silver for the tables of silver;

17 De plus, pour les fourchettes, les fioles, les encensoirs d’un or très pur, et pour les petits lions, il distribua le poids pour chaque petit lion, selon la grandeur de leur mesure. De même aussi pour les lions d’argent, il mit à part un poids d’argent différent.

and the forks, and the bowls, and the cups of pure gold, and for the basins of gold, by weight for basin and basin, and for the basins of silver, by weight for basin and basin,

18 Mais pour l’autel sur lequel se brûle le parfum, il donna de l’or très pur, pour qu’on en fît une représentation du quadrige et des chérubins, étendant leurs ailes et couvrant l’arche de l’alliance du Seigneur.

and for the altar of perfume refined gold by weight, and for the pattern of the chariot of the cherubs of gold — spreading and covering over the ark of the covenant of Jehovah.

19 Toutes ces choses, dit David, me sont venues écrites de la main du Seigneur, afin que je comprisse tous les ouvrages de ce modèle.

The whole [is] in writing from the hand of Jehovah, 'He caused me to understand all the work of the pattern,' [said David.]

20 David dit encore à Salomon, son fils: Agis courageusement, fortifie-toi, et fais; ne crains point et ne t’épouvante pas; car le Seigneur mon Dieu sera avec toi: il ne te laissera et ne t’abandonnera point que tu n’aies achevé tous les ouvrages pour le service de la maison du Seigneur.

And David saith to Solomon his son, 'Be strong, and courageous, and do; do not fear nor be affrighted, for Jehovah God, my God, [is] with thee; He doth not fail thee, nor forsake thee, unto the completion of all the work of the service of the house of Jehovah.

21 Voilà la division des prêtres et des Lévites, lesquels sont auprès de toi pour tous les services de la maison du Seigneur; ils sont prêts, et ils savent accomplir tes ordres, les princes aussi bien que le peuple.

'And lo, courses of the priests and of the Levites [are] for all the service of the house of God; and with thee in all work [is] every willing one with wisdom, for every service; and the heads and all the people [are] according to all thy words.'
