1 Or les enfants d’Israël, suivant leur nombre, les princes de familles, les tribuns, les centurions, et les préposés qui, selon leurs bandes, servaient le roi, entrant et sortant à chaque mois dans l’année, étaient chacun à la tête de vingt-quatre mille hommes.

2 Au premier mois, Jesboa, fils de Zabdiel, était à la tête de la première bande, et sous lui étaient vingt-quatre mille hommes.

3 Il était d’entre les fils de Pharès, et le prince de tous les princes dans l’armée, au premier mois.

4 Dudia, l’Ahohite, avait la bande du second mois, et après lui était un second du nom de Macelloth, qui dirigeait une partie de l’armée de vingt-quatre mille hommes.

8 Le cinquième, au cinquième mois, Samaoth, le Jézerite; et dans sa bande étaient vingt-quatre mille hommes.

9 Le sixième, au sixième mois, Hira, fils d’Accès, le Thécuite; et dans sa bande étaient vingt-quatre mille hommes.

10 Le septième, au septième mois, Hellès, le Phallonite, d’entre les fils d’Ephraïm; et dans sa bande étaient vingt-quatre mille hommes.
In the seuenthe monethe, the seuenthe prince was Helles Phallonites, of the sones of Effraym, and foure and twenti thousynde in his cumpeny.
11 Le huitième, au huitième mois, Sobochaï, le Husathite, de la race de Zarahi; et dans sa bande étaient vingt-quatre mille hommes.

12 Le neuvième, au neuvième mois, Abiézer, l’Anathothite, d’entre les fils de Jémini; et dans sa bande étaient vingt-quatre mille hommes.

13 Le dixième, au dixième mois, Maraï, le Nétophathite, de la race de Zaraï; et dans sa bande étaient vingt-quatre mille hommes.

14 Le onzième, au onzième mois, Banaïas, le Pharatonite, d’entre les fils d’Ephraïm; et dans sa bande étaient vingt-quatre mille hommes.

15 Le douzième, au douzième mois, Holdaï, le Nétophathite, de la race de Gothoniel; et dans sa bande étaient vingt-quatre mille hommes.

16 Quant aux tribus d’Israël, à la tête des Rubénites, était le chef, Eliézer, fils de Zechri; à la tête des Siméonites, le chef Saphatias, fils de Maacha;

19 À la tête des Zabulonites, Jesmaïas, fils d’Abdias; à la tête des Nephthalites, Jérimoth, fils d’Ozriel;

20 À la tête des fils d’Ephraïm, Osée, fils d’Ozaziu; à la tête de la demi-tribu de Manassé, Joël, fils de Phadaïa;

21 Et à la tête de la demi-tribu de Manassé en Galaad, Jaddo, fils de Zacharie; mais à la tête de Benjamin, Jasiel, fils d’Abner;

22 Et à la tête de Dan, Ezrihel, fils de Jéroham. Voilà les princes des enfants d’Israël.

23 Mais David ne voulut pas les dénombrer au-dessous de vingt ans, parce que le Seigneur avait dit qu’il multiplierait les enfants d’Israël comme les étoiles du ciel.

25 Le surintendant des trésors du roi était Azmoth, fils d’Adiel; quant aux trésors des villes, des bourgs et des tours, Jonathan, fils d’Osias, en avait la garde;

26 Mais aux travaux de la campagne et aux laboureurs qui travaillaient la terre, présidait Ezri, fils de Chélub.

27 À ceux qui cultivaient les vignes, c’était Séméias, le Romathite; mais aux celliers où on met le vin, Zabdias, l’Aphonite.

28 Aux plants d’oliviers, aux figuiers, qui étaient dans les plaines, Balanan, le Gédérite, et aux magasins d’huile, Joas.

29 Mais aux troupeaux qui paissaient en Saron, fut préposé Sétraï, le Saronite, et aux bœufs dans les vallées, Saphat, fils d’Adli;
forsothe Cethray Saronytis `was souereyn of the droues, that weren lesewid in Sarena; and Saphat, the sone of Abdi, was ouer the oxis in valeys;
30 Sur les chameaux, Ubil, L’Ismahélite, et sur les ânes, Jadias, le Méronathite;
sotheli Vbil of Ismael was ouer the camelis; and Jadye Meronathites was ouer the assis; and Jazir Aggarene was ouer the scheep;
31 Et sur les brebis, Jaziz l’Agaréen. Tous ceux-là étaient les intendants des biens du roi David.

32 Mais Jonathan, oncle de David, homme sage et savant, était un de ses conseillers; lui et Jahiel, fils d’Hachamoni, étaient auprès des enfants du roi.
Forsothe Jonathas, brother of `Dauithis fader, was a councelour, a myyti man, and prudent, and lettrid; he and Jahiel, the sone of Achamony, weren with the sones of the kyng.
33 Achitophel aussi était conseiller du roi; Chusaï, l’Arachite, favori du roi.

34 Après Achitophel étaient Joïada, fils de Banaïas, et Abiathar; mais le prince de l’armée du roi était Joab.
