1 Chroniques 22
1 Et David dit: C’est la maison de Dieu, et c’est l’autel pour l’holocauste d’Israël.
Then David said: This is the house of God, and this is the altar for the holocaust of Israel.
2 Et il ordonna qu’on assemblât tous les prosélytes de la terre d’Israël, et il prit parmi eux des tailleurs de pierre, pour tailler des pierres et les polir, afin que la maison de Dieu fût bâtie.
And he commanded to gather together all the proselytes of the land of Israel, and out of them he appointed stonecutters to hew stones and polish them, to build the house of God.
3 David prépara aussi beaucoup de fer pour les clous des portes et pour les gonds et joints, et un poids d’airain innombrable.
And David prepared in abundance iron for the nails of the gates, and for the closures and joinings: and of brass an immense weight.
4 On ne pouvait de même estimer les bois de cèdre que les Sidoniens et les Tyriens avaient apportés à David.
And the cedar trees were without number, which the Sidonians, and Tyrians brought to David.
5 Et David dit: Salomon, mon fils, est un enfant très jeune et délicat; et la maison que je veux bâtir au Seigneur doit être telle, qu’on en parle dans tous les pays: je lui préparerai donc toutes les choses nécessaires. Et c’est pour ce motif qu’avant sa mort il prépara toutes les dépenses.
And David said: Solomon my son is very young and tender, and the house which I would have to be built to the Lord, must be such as to be renowned in all countries: therefore I will prepare him necessaries. And therefore before his death he prepared all the charges.
6 Et il appela Salomon, son fils, et lui ordonna de bâtir une maison au Seigneur Dieu d’Israël.
And he called for Solomon his son: and commanded him to build a house to the Lord the God of Israel.
7 David dit donc à Salomon: Mon fils, il a été dans ma volonté de bâtir une maison au nom du Seigneur mon Dieu;
And David said to Solomon: My son, it was my desire to have built a house to the name of the Lord my God.
8 Mais la parole du Seigneur s’est fait entendre à moi, disant: Tu as versé beaucoup de sang, et tu as combattu un grand nombre de combats: tu ne pourras pas bâtir une maison à mon nom, tant de sang ayant été versé devant moi.
But the word of the Lord came to me, saying: Thou hast shed much blood, and fought many battles, so thou canst not build a house to my name, after shedding so much blood before me:
9 Un fils qui te naîtra sera un homme très tranquille; car je le mettrai en repos du côté de tous ses ennemis d’alentour; et pour ce motif il sera appelé Pacifique; et je donnerai en Israël paix et repos durant tous ses jours.
The son, that shall be born to thee, shall be a most quiet man: for I will make him rest from all his enemies round about: and therefore he shall be called Peaceable: and I will give peace and quietness to Israel all his days.
10 C’est lui qui bâtira une maison à mon nom; lui sera mon fils, et moi, je serai son père, et j’affermirai le trône de son royaume sur Israël pour toujours.
He shall build a house to my name, and he shall be a son to me, and I will be a father to him: and I will establish the throne of his kingdom over Israel for ever.
11 Maintenant donc, mon fils, que le Seigneur soit avec toi, prospère, et bâtis une maison au Seigneur ton Dieu, comme il l’a dit de toi.
Now then, my son, the Lord be with thee, and do thou prosper, and build the house to the Lord thy God, as he hath spoken of thee.
12 Que le Seigneur te donne aussi la sagesse et l’intelligence, afin que tu puisses régir Israël et garder la loi du Seigneur ton Dieu;
The Lord also give thee wisdom and understanding, that thou mayest be able to rule Israel, and to keep the law of the Lord thy God.
13 Car tu pourras profiter, alors que tu garderas les commandements et les ordonnances que le Seigneur a prescrit à Moïse d’enseigner à Israël: fortifie-toi, et agis courageusement; ne crains point, et ne t’épouvante pas.
For then thou shalt be able to prosper, if thou keep the commandments, and judgments, which the Lord commanded Moses to teach Israel: take courage and act manfully, fear not, nor be dismayed.
14 Voilà que moi, dans ma pauvreté, j’ai préparé, pour les dépenses de la maison du Seigneur, cent mille talents d’or et un million de talents d’argent; mais il n’y a pas de poids pour l’airain et pour le fer; car la quantité surpasse tout calcul: j’ai préparé des bois et des pierres pour tous les usages.
Behold I in my poverty have prepared the charges of the house of the Lord, of gold a hundred thousand talents, and of silver a million of talents: but of brass, and of iron there is no weight, for the abundance surpasseth all account: timber also and stones I have prepared for all the charges.
15 Tu as aussi un grand nombre d’ouvriers, de tailleurs de pierres, de maçons, et des ouvriers en bois et de tous les métiers, très habiles à faire des ouvrages
Thou hast also workmen in abundance, hewers of stones, and masons, and carpenters, and of all trades the most skillful in their work,
16 En or, en argent, en airain et en fer, qui sont sans nombre. Lève-toi donc, et fais, et le Seigneur sera avec toi.
In gold, and in silver, and in brass, and in iron, whereof there is no number. Arise then, and be doing, and the Lord will be with thee.
17 David ordonna aussi à tous les princes d’Israël d’aider Salomon, son fils.
David also charged all the princes of Israel, to help Solomon his son,
18 Vous voyez, dit-il, que le Seigneur votre Dieu est avec vous, et qu’il vous a donné le repos alentour, qu’il a livré tous vos ennemis en vos mains, et que la terre est soumise devant le Seigneur et devant son peuple.
Saying: You see, that the Lord your God is with you, and hath given you rest round about, and hath delivered all your enemies into your hands, and the land is subdued before the Lord, and before his people.
19 Disposez donc vos cœurs et vos âmes à chercher le Seigneur votre Dieu: levez-vous, et bâtissez le sanctuaire au Seigneur Dieu, afin que l’arche de l’alliance du Seigneur et les vases consacrés au Seigneur soient transportés dans la maison qui sera bâtie au nom du Seigneur.
Give therefore your hearts and your souls, to seek the Lord your God: and arise, and build a sanctuary to the Lord God, that the ark of the covenant of the Lord, and the vessels consecrated to the Lord, may be brought into the house, which is built to the name of the Lord.
