1 Chroniques 11
1 Tout Israël s’assembla donc près de David à Hébron, disant: Nous sommes votre os et votre chair.
Then did all Israel gather themselves unto David unto Hebron, saying Behold, thy bone and thy flesh are we.
2 Hier même et avant-hier, lorsque Saül régnait encore, vous étiez celui qui menait Israël au combat et le ramenait; car c’est à vous que le Seigneur votre Dieu a dit: C’est toi qui seras le pasteur de mon peuple Israël, et c’est toi qui seras son prince.
Already yesterday and even before, even when Saul was king, thou wast he that led out and brought in Israel; and the Lord, thy God, said unto thee, Thou shalt indeed feed my people Israel, and thou shalt be truly a chief over my people Israel.
3 Tous les anciens d’Israël vinrent donc vers le roi à Hébron; et David fit avec eux alliance devant le Seigneur; et ils l’oignirent roi sur Israël, selon la parole que le Seigneur avait dite par l’entremise de Samuel.
Thus came all the elders of Israel to the king to Hebron; and David made a covenant with them in Hebron before the Lord; and they anointed David as king over Israel, according to the word of the Lord through means of Samuel.
4 Et David alla, et tout Israël, à Jérusalem, c’est-à-dire Jébus, où se trouvaient les Jébuséens, habitants du pays.
And David and all Israel went to Jerusalem, which is Jebus; and there were the Jebusites, the inhabitants of the land.
5 Et ceux qui habitaient dans Jébus dirent à David: Vous n’entrerez pas ici. Mais David prit la citadelle de Sion, qui est la cité de David,
And the inhabitants of Jebus said to David, Thou shalt not come in hither. Nevertheless David captured the strong-hold of Zion, the same is the City of David.
6 Et il dit: Quiconque frappera le premier un Jébuséen sera prince et chef de l’armée. Joab, fils de Sarvia, monta donc le premier, et il fut fait prince.
And David said, Whosoever doth smite the Jebusites at first shall be head and chief. Then did Joab the son of Zeruyah go up at first, and became head-man.
7 Or David habita dans la citadelle, et c’est pourquoi elle fut appelée la cité de David.
And David dwelt in the castle: therefore they called it, “The City of David.”
8 Et il bâtit la ville autour, depuis Mello jusqu’à l’enceinte; et Joab répara le reste de la ville.
And he built the city round about, even from the Millo as far as the surrounding district, and Joab repaired the rest of the city.
9 Et David avançait, allant et croissant; et le Seigneur des armées était avec lui.
And David want on, and became greater and greater, and the lord of hosts was with him.
10 Voici les premiers des hommes braves de David qui l’ont aidé à se faire roi sur tout Israël, selon la parole que le Seigneur avait dite à Israël;
These also are the principals of the mighty men whom David had, who held firmly with him in his kingdom, with all Israel, to make him king, according to the word of the Lord concerning Israel.
11 Et voici le nombre des hommes vigoureux de David: Jesbaam, fils d’Hachamoni, le premier entre les trente; c’est lui qui leva sa lance sur trois cents ennemis qu’il blessa en une seule fois.
And this is the number of the mighty men whom David had: Jashoh'am, the son of Chachmoni, the chief of the captains, who lifted up his spear against three hundred slain at one time.
12 Et après lui, Eléazar l’Ahohite, fils de son oncle, était entre les trois puissants.
And after him was El'asar the son of Dodo, the Achochite, who was one of the three mighty men.
13 C’est lui qui se trouva avec David à Phesdomim, quand les Philistins s’assemblèrent en ce lieu pour le combat: or la campagne de cette contrée était pleine d’orge, et le peuple s’était enfui devant les Philistins.
He was with David at Pass-dammim, and the Philistines were gathered together there to battle, and there was a piece of ground full of barley; and the people had fled from before the Philistines.
14 Mais eux s’arrêtèrent au milieu du champ, et le défendirent; et, lorsqu’ils eurent frappé les Philistins, Dieu donna une grande victoire à son peuple.
And they placed themselves in the midst of that piece [of ground], and they delivered it, and smote the Philistines: and the Lord helped [them] with a great victory.
15 Ainsi trois d’entre les trente princes vinrent au rocher sur lequel était David, à la caverne d’Odollam, quand les Philistins eurent campé dans la vallée de Raphaïm.
And these three, the chiefs of the thirty, went down to the rock to David, to the cave of 'Adullam; and the camp of the Philistines was pitched in the valley of Rephaim.
16 Or David était dans la forteresse, et une garnison de Philistins à Bethléhem.
And David was then in the strong-hold, and an outpost of the Philistines was then at Beth-lechem.
17 David donc forma un souhait et dit: Ô si quelqu’un me donnait de l’eau de la citerne de Béthléhem, qui est à la porte!
And David longed, and said, Oh that some one would bring me water to drink out of the well of Beth-lechem, which is by the gate!
18 Ainsi ces trois hommes passèrent par le milieu du camp des Philistins, puisèrent de l’eau à la citerne de Béthléhem, laquelle était à la porte, et l’apportèrent à David, afin qu’il bût; mais il ne voulut pas, et il l’offrit volontiers au Seigneur,
And the three broke through the camp of the Philistines, and drew water out of the well of Beth-lechem, which was by the gate, and carried it, and brought it to David; but David would not drink thereof, and poured it out unto the Lord.
19 Disant: Loin de moi que je fasse cela en la présence de Dieu, et que je boive le sang de ces hommes! parce que c’est au péril de leurs âmes qu’ils ont apporté cette eau. Et, pour ce motif, il ne voulut point boire. Voilà ce que firent ces trois hommes très vigoureux.
And he said, Far be it from me, before my God, that I should do this: shall I drink the blood of these men that went at the risk of their lives? for at the risk of their lives did they bring it; and thus he would not drink it. These things did the three mighty men.
20 Abisaï aussi, frère de Joab, était lui-même le premier des trois: c’est lui qui leva sa lance contre trois cents ennemis qu’il blessa, et lui qui était le plus renommé entre les trois,
And Abshai the brother of Joab was the chief of these three; and he lifted up his spear against three hundred slain, and had a name among the three.
21 Illustre entre ces trois seconds, et chef: cependant il n’atteignait pas les trois premiers.
Of the three, he was more honored than the two, wherefore he became their captain; he nevertheless attained not unto the three [in prowess].
22 Banaïas de Cabséel, fils de Joïada, était un homme très vigoureux, qui avait fait beaucoup d’exploits: c’est lui qui tua les deux Ariel de Moab: et lui qui descendit et tua le lion au milieu de la citerne au temps de la neige.
Banayah the son of Jehoyada', the son of a valiant man, great in many acts, of Kah-zeel: he it was that smote the two lion-like heroes of Moab; he also went down and smote a lion in the midst of a pit on a day when it snowed.
23 C’est lui aussi qui tua l’Egyptien dont la stature était de cinq coudées, et qui avait une lance comme une ensouple de tisserands; il descendit donc vers lui avec sa verge, et il lui arracha la lance qu’il tenait en sa main, et il le tua de sa lance.
And he smote an Egyptian, a man of great stature, five cubits high; and in the Egyptian's hand was a spear like a weaver's beam; and he went down to him with a staff, and he snatched the spear out of the Egyptian's hand, and slew him with his own spear.
24 Voilà ce que fit Banaïas, fils de Joïada, qui était très renommé entre les trois guerriers vigoureux,
These things did Benayah the son of Jehoyada'; and he had a name among the mighty men.
25 Et le premier entre les trente: cependant il n’atteignait pas les trois premiers. Or David le mit près de son oreille.
Behold, he was indeed more honored than the thirty; but he attained not to the first three. And David appointed him over his private council.
26 Mais les hommes les plus vaillants dans l’armée étaient Asaël, frère de Joab, et Elchanan, fils de son oncle paternel de Béthléhem,
And the mighty men of the armies were, 'Assahel the brother of Joab, Elchanan the son of Dodo of Beth-lechem.
27 Sammoth, l’Arorite, et Hellès, le Phalonite,
Shammoth the Harorite, Chelez the Pelonite,
28 Ira, le Thécuite, fils d’Accès; Abiézer d’Anathoth,
'Ira the son of 'Ikkesh the Theko'ite, Abi'ezer the 'Antothite,
29 Sobbochaï, l’Husathite, Haï, l’Ahohite,
Sibbechai the Chushathite, 'Ilai the Achochite,
30 Maharaï, le Nétophathite, Héled, fils de Baana, le Nétophathite,
Maharai the Netophathite, Cheled the son of Ba'anah the Netophathite,
31 Ethaï, fils de Ribaï, de Gabaath, des fils de Benjamin; Banaïa, le Pharatonite,
Ithai the son of Ribai of Gib'ah, of the children of 'Benjamin, Benayah the Pir'athonite.
32 Huraï, du torrent de Gaas, Abiel, l’Arbathite, Azmoth, le Bauramite, Éliaba, le Salabonite.
Churai of the Nachale-Ga'ash, Abiel the 'Arbathite,
33 Les fils d’Assem, le Gézonite, étaient Jonathan, fils de Sagé, l’Ararite,
'Azmaveth the Bacharumite, Elyachba the Sha'albonite,
34 Ahiam, fils de Sachar, l’Ararite,
Bnai-hashem the Gizonite, Jonathan the son of Shage the Hararite.
35 Eliphal, fils d’Ur;
Achiam the son of Sachar the Hararite, Eliphal the son of Ur,
36 Hépher, le Méchérathite, Ahia, le Phélonite,
Chepher the Mecherathite, Achiyah the Pelonite.
37 Hesro, du Carmel, Naaraï, fils d’Asbaï,
Chezro the Carmelite, Na'arai the son of Ezbai,
38 Joël, frère de Nathan, Mibahar, fils d’Agaraï;
Joel the brother of Nathan, Mibchar the son of Hagri,
39 Sélec, l’Ammonite, Naaraï, le Bérothite, écuyer de Joab, fils de Sarvia;
Zelek the 'Ammonite, Nachrai the Berothite, the armor bearer of Joab the son of Zeruyah,
40 Ira, le Jéthréen, Gareb, le Jéthréen,
'Ira the Yithrite, Gareb the Yithrite,
41 Urie, l’Héthéen, Zabad, fils d’Oholi,
Uriyah the Hittite, Zabad the son of Achlai,
42 Adina, fils de Siza, le Rubénite, prince des Rubénites, et trente avec lui;
'Adina the son of Shiza the Reubenite, a chief of the Reubenites, and with him were thirty [men].
43 Hanam, fils de Maacha, et Josaphat, le Mathanite,
Chanan the son of Ma'achah, and Joshaphat the Mithnite.
44 Ozia, l’Astharothite, Samma et Jéhiel, les fils d’Hotham, le Arorite,
'Uzziya the 'Ashterathite, Shama' and Je'iel the sons of Chothan the 'Aro'erite,
45 Jédihel, fils de Samri, et Joha, son frère, le Thosaïte;
Jedi'ael the son of Shimri, and Jocha his brother, the Thizite,
46 Éliel, le Mahumite, et Jéribaï, et Josaïa, le fils d’Elnaëm, et Jethma, le Moabite, Eliel, et Obed, et Jasiel de Masobia.
Eliel the Machavite, and Jerihal, and Joshavyah, the son of Elna'am, and Yithmah the Moabite,
Eliel, and 'Obed, and Ja'assiel the Mezobayite.
