Psaumes 81
1 Au maître-chantre. — D'Asaph. — Sur la Guittith. Chantez avec allégresse en l'honneur de Dieu, notre force; Jetez des cris de joie à la gloire du Dieu de Jacob!
For the end, a Psalm for Asaph, concerning the wine-presses. Rejoice ye in God our helper; shout aloud to the God of Jacob.
2 Entonnez un cantique, faites résonner le tambourin, La douce harpe, avec la lyre.
Take a psalm, and produce the timbrel, the pleasant psaltery with the harp.
3 Sonnez de la trompette, à la nouvelle lune, A la pleine lune, le jour de notre fête;
Blow the trumpet at the new moon, in the glorious day of your feast.
4 Car c'est une loi pour Israël, Un commandement du Dieu de Jacob.
For [this] is an ordinance for Israel, and a statute of the God of Jacob.
5 C'est la règle qu'il établit parmi les fils de Joseph, Quand il exerça ses jugements contre le pays d'Egypte. J'entendis alors un langage que je ne connaissais pas:
He made it [to be] a testimony in Joseph, when he came forth out of the land of Egypt: he heard a language which he understood not.
6 «J'ai déchargé de son fardeau ton épaule; Tes mains ne sont plus asservies à de durs labeurs.
He removed his back from burdens: his hands slaved in making the baskets.
7 Dans ta détresse, tu as crié et je t'ai délivré. Du sein de la tempête dont j'étais enveloppé, J'ai exaucé tes prières; Je t'ai éprouvé aux eaux de Mériba. (Pause)
Thou didst call upon me in trouble, and I delivered thee; I heard thee in the secret place of the storm: I proved thee at the water of Strife. (Pause)
8 Écoute, ô mon peuple, et je t'instruirai! O Israël, si tu m'écoutais!
Hear, my people, and I will speak to thee, O Israel; and I will testify to thee: if thou wilt hearken to me;
9 Qu'il n'y ait au milieu de toi aucun dieu étranger; Ne te prosterne pas devant un autre dieu!
there shall be no new god in thee; neither shalt thou worship a strange god.
10 Je suis l'Éternel, ton Dieu: Je t'ai fait remonter du pays d'Egypte. Ouvre ta bouche, et je la remplirai.»
For I am the Lord thy God, that brought thee out of the land of Egypt: open thy mouth wide, and I will fill it.
11 Mais mon peuple n'a pas écouté ma voix; Les enfants d'Israël n'ont pas voulu m'obéir.
But my people hearkened not to my voice; and Israel gave no heed to me.
12 Alors je les ai abandonnés à la dureté de leur coeur, Et ils ont marché au gré de leurs désirs.
So I let them go after the ways of their own hearts: they will go on in their own ways.
13 Oh! si mon peuple voulait m'écouter, Si les enfants d'Israël marchaient dans mes voies!
If my people had hearkened to me, if Israel had walked in my ways,
14 J'aurais bientôt abattu leurs ennemis; Je ferais peser ma main sur leurs adversaires!
I should have put down their enemies very quickly, and should have laid my hand upon those that afflicted them.
15 Ceux qui haïssent l'Éternel viendraient flatter son peuple; Sa prospérité durerait éternellement.
The Lord's enemies [should have] lied to him: but their time shall be for ever.
16 Je vous nourrirais de la moelle du froment; Je vous rassasierais encore du miel du rocher.
And he fed them with the fat of wheat; and satisfied them with honey out of the rock.
