Psaumes 35
1 De David. Éternel, sois l'adversaire de mes adversaires; Combats ceux qui me combattent!
A Psalm of David. Strive, O LORD, with them that strive with me; fight against them that fight against me.
2 Prends le petit et le grand bouclier. Et lève-toi pour me secourir!
Take hold of shield and buckler, and rise up to my help.
3 Brandis ta lance, barre le passage à ceux qui me poursuivent; Dis à mon âme: «Je suis ton salut!»
Draw out also the spear, and the battle-axe, against them that pursue me; say unto my soul: 'I am Thy salvation.'
4 Qu'ils soient honteux et confus, ceux qui en veulent à ma vie; Qu'ils reculent et qu'ils rougissent, ceux qui méditent ma perte!
Let them be ashamed and brought to confusion that seek after my soul; let them be turned back and be abashed that devise my hurt.
5 Qu'ils soient comme la paille emportée par le vent. Et que l'ange de l'Éternel les chasse devant lui!
Let them be as chaff before the wind, the angel of the LORD thrusting them.
6 Que leur chemin soit ténébreux et glissant. Et que l'ange de l'Éternel les poursuive!
Let their way be dark and slippery, the angel of the LORD pursuing them.
7 Car, sans motif, ils ont caché leur filet sous mes pas; Sans motif, ils ont creusé une fosse pour m'ôter la vie.
For without cause have they hid for me the pit, even their net, without cause have they digged for my soul.
8 Qu'une ruine imprévue les atteigne! Qu'ils soient pris dans le filet qu'ils ont caché! Qu'ils y tombent, et qu'ils périssent!
Let destruction come upon him unawares; and let his net that he hath hid catch himself; with destruction let him fall therein.
9 Alors mon âme frémira d'allégresse en l'Éternel, Et elle se réjouira de son salut.
And my soul shall be joyful in the LORD; it shall rejoice in His salvation.
10 Tous mes os diront: «Éternel, qui est semblable à toi, Toi qui délivres le malheureux du puissant qui l'opprime, Le malheureux et le pauvre de celui qui les dépouille?»
All my bones shall say: 'LORD, who is like unto Thee, who deliverest the poor from him that is too strong for him, yea, the poor and the needy from him that spoileth him?'
11 Des témoins criminels se lèvent; Ils m'accusent de fautes que j'ignore.
Unrighteous witnesses rise up; they ask me of things that I know not.
12 Ils me rendent le mal pour le bien; Mon âme est dans l'abandon.
They repay me evil for good; bereavement is come to my soul.
13 Mais moi, quand ils étaient malades, je me couvrais d'un sac. J'affligeais mon âme par le jeûne, Et je priais, la tête penchée sur ma poitrine.
But as for me, when they were sick, my clothing was sackcloth, I afflicted my soul with fasting; and my prayer, may it return into mine own bosom.
14 Je marchais lentement. Comme si j'avais perdu un ami, un frère; J'allais en habits de deuil, Comme accablé par la mort d'une mère.
I went about as though it had been my friend or my brother; I bowed down mournful, as one that mourneth for his mother.
15 Mais, si je viens à chanceler, Ils se rassemblent pour se réjouir. Ils se rassemblent contre moi, ils me calomnient à mon insu; Ils me déchirent sans relâche.
But when I halt they rejoice, and gather themselves together; the abjects gather themselves together against me, and those whom I know not; they tear me, and cease not;
16 Pareils à d'impurs bouffons de table, Ils grincent des dents contre moi.
With the profanest mockeries of backbiting they gnash at me with their teeth.
17 Seigneur, jusques à quand supporteras-tu ce spectacle? Délivre mon âme de leurs violences; Arrache ma vie à ces lions!
Lord, how long wilt Thou look on? Rescue my soul from their destructions, mine only one from the lions.
18 Alors je te célébrerai dans la grande assemblée; Je te louerai au milieu d'un peuple nombreux.
I will give Thee thanks in the great congregation; I will praise Thee among a numerous people.
19 Puissent mes perfides ennemis N'avoir pas à se réjouir de mon sort! Que ceux qui me haïssent sans motif Ne me lancent pas des regards méprisants!
Let not them that are wrongfully mine enemies rejoice over me; neither let them wink with the eye that hate me without a cause.
20 Car jamais ils ne prononcent des paroles de paix; Mais ils trament de noirs complots Contre les gens tranquilles du pays.
For they speak not peace; but they devise deceitful matters against them that are quiet in the land.
21 Ils ouvrent toute grande leur bouche contre moi, Disant: «Ah! ah! Notre oeil l'a vu!» —
Yea, they open their mouth wide against me; they say: 'Aha, aha, our eye hath seen it.'
22 Tu l'as vu, toi aussi, ô Éternel; ne te tais point! Seigneur, ne t'éloigne point de moi!
Thou hast seen, O LORD; keep not silence; O Lord, be not far from me.
23 Réveille-toi, lève-toi, ô mon Dieu, mon Seigneur, Pour me rendre justice, pour défendre ma cause!
Rouse Thee, and awake to my judgment, even unto my cause, my God and my Lord.
24 Juge-moi selon la justice, ô Éternel, mon Dieu, Et qu'ils ne se réjouissent pas à mon sujet!
Judge me, O LORD my God, according to Thy righteousness; and let them not rejoice over me.
25 Qu'ils ne disent pas en leur coeur: «Ah! voilà ce que nous désirions!» Qu'ils ne puissent pas dire: «Nous l'avons anéanti!»
Let them not say in their heart: 'Aha, we have our desire'; let them not say: 'We have swallowed him up.'
26 Qu'ils soient honteux et qu'ils rougissent. Tous ceux qui se réjouissent de mon malheur! Qu'ils soient couverts d'opprobre et d'infamie, Ceux qui s'élèvent orgueilleusement contre moi!
Let them be ashamed and abashed together that rejoice at my hurt; let them be clothed with shame and confusion that magnify themselves against me.
27 Puissent-ils chanter et se réjouir, Ceux qui souhaitent le triomphe de ma juste cause, Et puissent-ils dire sans cesse: «Gloire soit à l'Éternel, Qui veut le bien de son serviteur!»
Let them shout for joy, and be glad, that delight in my righteousness; yea, let them say continually: 'Magnified be the LORD, who delighteth in the peace of His servant.'
28 Alors ma langue proclamera ta justice, Et tous les jours elle redira tes louanges.
And my tongue shall speak of Thy righteousness, and of Thy praise all the day.
