Luc 11
1 Un jour, Jésus était en prière dans un certain lieu. Quand il eut fini de prier, un de ses disciples lui dit: Seigneur, enseigne-nous à prier, comme Jean l'a enseigné à ses disciples.
And it came to pass, that He was in a certain place praying; when He ceased, one of His disciples said to Him, Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples.
2 Il leur dit: Quand vous priez, dites: Père, que ton nom soit sanctifié. Que ton règne vienne.
And He said to them, When you pray, say, Our Father, let thy name be hallowed: let thy kingdom come:
3 Donne-nous chaque jour notre pain quotidien.
give unto us this day our daily bread:
4 Pardonne-nous nos péchés; car, nous aussi, nous pardonnons à tous ceux qui nous ont offensés. Ne nous laisse pas succomber à la tentation.
and forgive us our sins; for we also do forgive every one owing us: and lead us not into temptation.
5 Puis il leur dit: Si l'un de vous a un ami et qu'il aille le trouver au milieu de la nuit pour lui dire: Mon ami, prête-moi trois pains;
And He said to them, Which one of you shall have a friend, and go to him at midnight, and say to him, Friend, lend me three loaves;
6 car un de mes amis est arrivé de voyage, et je n'ai rien à lui offrir.
since my friend came to me from the road, and I have nothing which I may place before him.
7 Si cet homme lui répond de l'intérieur: Ne m'importune pas; ma porte est déjà fermée, mes enfants et moi, nous sommes au lit; je ne puis me lever pour t'en donner!
And he responding from within, said, Do not give me trouble: the door has already been closed, and my children are in bed with me; I am not able rising to give unto thee.
8 Je vous le déclare, quand même cet homme ne se lèverait pas pour lui en donner parce qu'il est son ami, il se lèvera à cause de son importunité et lui donnera tout ce dont il a besoin.
I say unto you, If indeed having risen he will not give unto him, because he is his friend, yet on account of his shamelessness, rising he will give him as much as he needs.
9 Et moi, je vous dis: demandez, et l'on vous donnera; cherchez, et vous trouverez; frappez, et l'on vous ouvrira.
And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given unto you; seek, and you shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.
10 Car quiconque demande, reçoit; qui cherche, trouve; et l'on ouvrira à celui qui frappe.
For every one asking receives; and the one seeking finds; and to the one knocking it shall be opened.
11 Quel est parmi vous le père qui donnera à son fils une pierre, s'il lui demande du pain? Ou, s'il demande du poisson, lui donnera-t-il un serpent au lieu d'un poisson?
And which father of you shall if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone? or indeed a fish, will he instead of a fish give him a serpent?
12 Ou, s'il demande un oeuf, lui donnera-t-il un scorpion?
Or indeed shall he ask an egg, will he give him a scorpion?
13 Si donc vous, qui êtes mauvais, savez donner de bonnes choses à vos enfants, combien plus votre Père céleste donnera-t-il le Saint-Esprit à ceux qui le lui demandent!
If then you, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, then how much more will your Father who is from heaven give the Holy Spirit to them that ask Him?
14 Jésus chassa un démon, chez un homme qui était muet; et le démon étant sorti, le muet parla. La multitude fut remplie d'admiration;
And He was casting out a demon, and he was dumb: and it came to pass, the demon having gone out, the dumb spoke; and the multitudes were astonished.
15 mais quelques-uns dirent: C'est par Béelzébul, le prince des démons, qu'il chasse les démons.
And certain ones of them said, He casts out the demon through Beelzebul, the prince of the demons.
16 D'autres, pour le mettre à l'épreuve, lui demandaient un miracle venant du ciel.
And others tempting, continued to seek with Him a sign from heaven.
17 Jésus, connaissant leurs pensées, leur dit: Tout royaume divisé contre lui-même est réduit en désert, et ses maisons tombent l'une sur l'autre.
And He, knowing their thoughts, said to them, Every kingdom divided against itself, comes to desolation, and house falls upon house.
18 Si donc Satan est aussi divisé contre lui-même, comment son royaume subsistera-t-il, puisque vous dites que c'est par Béelzébul que je chasse les démons?
And if Satan were indeed divided against himself, how will his kingdom stand? Because you say I am casting out demons through Beelzebul.
19 Et si moi je chasse les démons par Béelzébul, vos fils, par qui les chassent-ils? C'est pourquoi ils seront eux-mêmes vos juges.
But if I through Beelzebul cast out the demons, through whom do your sons cast them out? Therefore they shall be your judges:
20 Mais si c'est par le doigt de Dieu que je chasse les démons, le royaume de Dieu est donc venu jusqu'à vous!
but if I through the finger of God cast out the demons, then the kingdom of God has come nigh unto you.
21 Quand un homme fort et bien armé garde l'entrée de sa maison, ce qu'il possède est en sûreté.
When the strong man armed may keep his palace, his goods are in peace:
22 Mais, qu'il en vienne un plus fort que lui: celui-là, après l'avoir vaincu, lui enlève toutes ses armes, dans lesquelles il mettait sa confiance, et il distribue ses dépouilles.
but when one stronger than he, having come, may conquer him, he takes away his panoply in which he trusted, and divides his spoils.
23 Celui qui n'est pas avec moi, est contre moi, et celui qui n'amasse pas avec moi, disperse.
The one not being with me is against me; and the one not gathering with me scatters abroad.
24 Lorsque l'esprit impur est sorti d'un homme, il erre dans les lieux arides pour chercher du repos. N'en trouvant point, il dit: Je retournerai dans ma maison, d'où je suis sorti.
When the unclean spirit may go out from the man, he goes through dry places; seeking rest, and finding none, he says, I will return into my own house, whence I came out.
25 Étant revenu, il la trouve balayée et ornée.
And having come he finds it swept and beautified.
26 Alors il s'en va et prend avec lui sept autres esprits plus méchants que lui. Ils entrent là et y demeurent; et la dernière condition de cet homme devient pire que la première.
Then he goes, and takes seven other spirits more wicked than himself; and having come in he dwells there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first.
27 Pendant que Jésus disait ces paroles, une femme, élevant la voix au milieu de la foule, lui dit: Heureux les flancs qui t'ont porté, et les mamelles qui t'ont allaité!
And it came to pass, while He is speaking these words, a certain woman lifting up her voice from the crowd, said to Him, Blessed is the womb having borne thee, and the breasts which thou didst suck.
28 Jésus reprit: Heureux plutôt ceux qui écoutent la parole de Dieu et qui la gardent!
And He said, Truly blessed are those hearing the word of God, and keeping it.
29 Comme le peuple s'amassait en foule, Jésus se mit à dire: Cette génération est une génération méchante: elle demande un signe; mais il ne lui en sera accordé aucun autre que celui de Jonas.
And the multitudes being assembled, He began to say, This is a wicked generation: it seeks after a sign, and no sign shall be given to it except the sign of the prophet Jonah.
30 Car, de même que Jonas fut un signe pour les Ninivites, le Fils de l'homme aussi en sera un pour cette génération.
For as Jonah was a sign to the Ninevites, so shall the Son of man also be a sign to this generation.
31 La reine du Midi se lèvera, au jour du jugement, avec les hommes de cette génération, et elle les condamnera, parce qu'elle vint des extrémités de la terre pour entendre la sagesse de Salomon; or, il y a ici plus que Salomon!
The queen of the south will rise in judgment with this generation, and condemn them; because she came from the uttermost parts of the earth, to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and behold, a greater than Solomon is here.
32 Les Ninivites se lèveront au jour du jugement avec cette génération, et ils la condamneront, parce qu'ils se repentirent à la prédication de Jonas; or, il y a ici plus que Jonas!
The men of Nineveh will rise in judgment with this generation, and condemn it: because they repented at the preaching of Jonah; and behold a greater than Jonah is here.
33 Personne n'allume une lampe pour la mettre dans un lieu caché, ou sous un boisseau; mais on la met sur un support, afin que ceux qui entrent, voient la lumière.
No one, having lighted a lamp, putteth it in a cellar, nor under a bushel, but on a candlestick, in order that those coming in may see the light.
34 L'oeil est la lampe du corps; si ton oeil est sain, tout ton corps est dans la lumière; mais s'il est mauvais, ton corps est dans les ténèbres.
The light of the body is the eye: therefore when thine eye may be clear, truly thy whole body is lighted; but when it may be had, truly thy body is dark.
35 Ainsi, prends garde que la lumière qui est en toi ne soit ténèbres.
See then that the light which is in thee is not darkness.
36 il sera éclairé entièrement, comme lorsque la clarté d'une lampe rayonne sur toi.
If then thy whole body is lighted, having no part dark, all will be lighted, as when a lamp may light thee with its brightness.
37 Pendant que Jésus parlait, un pharisien le pria de prendre un repas chez lui. Jésus entra et se mit à table.
And while He was speaking, a Pharisee asked Him, that He would dine with him: and having come in, He sat up at the table.
38 Le pharisien, voyant qu'il ne s'était pas lavé avant le repas, en fut surpris.
And the Pharisee seeing, was astonished because He was not first baptized before dinner.
39 Mais le Seigneur lui dit: Vous autres, pharisiens, vous nettoyez le dehors de la coupe et du plat; et, au dedans, vous êtes pleins de rapacité et de méchanceté.
And the Lord said to him, Now you Pharisees purify the outside of the cup and the plate, but the interior is full of extortion and wickedness.
40 Insensés! Celui qui a fait le dehors, n'a-t-il pas aussi fait le dedans?
Ye fools, did not the One having made the outside also make the inside?
41 Donnez plutôt en aumônes ce que vous avez, et toutes choses seront pures pour vous.
Therefore give alms of your substance; and behold all things are pure unto you.
42 Mais malheur à vous, pharisiens, parce que vous payez la dîme de la menthe, de la rue et de toutes sortes d'herbes, tandis que vous négligez la justice et l'amour de Dieu! Voilà les choses qu'il fallait faire, sans toutefois négliger les autres.
But woe unto you, Pharisees! because you tithe mint and rue and every herb, and you pass by judgment and the love of God: it behooveth to do these things, and not to omit those.
43 Malheur à vous, pharisiens, parce que vous aimez la première place dans les synagogues, et les salutations dans les places publiques!
Woe unto you, Pharisees! because you love the front seat in the synagogues, and salutations in the forums.
44 Malheur à vous, parce que vous ressemblez aux tombeaux qu'on ne remarque pas, et sur lesquels on marche sans le savoir!
Woe unto you! because you are like tombs unseen, and men walking over them do not know it.
45 Alors un des docteurs de la loi prit la parole et lui dit: Maître, en parlant ainsi, tu nous outrages, nous aussi.
And a certain one of the theologians responding says to Him, Teacher, speaking these things yon indeed insult us.
46 Jésus reprit: Malheur à vous aussi, docteurs de la loi, parce que vous chargez les hommes de fardeaux difficiles à porter, et vous-mêmes, vous n'y touchez pas du doigt!
And He said, Woe unto you, theologians! because you lay burdens on the people difficult to be borne, and you yourselves do not touch the burdens with one of your fingers.
47 Malheur à vous, parce que vous bâtissez les tombeaux des prophètes que vos pères ont fait mourir!
Woe unto you! because you build the sepulchers of the prophets, and your fathers killed them.
48 Vous rappelez ainsi les oeuvres de vos pères, et vous les approuvez; car eux, ils les ont fait mourir, et vous, vous leur élevez des tombeaux.
Therefore you are witnesses and you consent unto the works of your fathers: because they slew them, and you build.
49 C'est pourquoi, la sagesse de Dieu a dit: Je leur enverrai des prophètes et des apôtres, et ils feront mourir les uns et persécuteront les autres,
Therefore the wisdom of God said, I will send unto them prophets and apostles; and some of them they will slay and persecute.
50 afin que le sang de tous les prophètes, répandu depuis la création du monde, soit redemandé à cette génération,
In order that the blood of all the prophets poured out from the foundation of the world, may be required from this generation;
51 depuis le sang d'Abel jusqu'au sang de Zacharie, qui fut tué entre l'autel et le temple. Oui, vous dis-je, il en sera demandé compte à cette génération.
from the blood of Abel unto the blood of Zachariah, who perished between the altar and the house; yea, I say unto you, it shall be required of this generation.
52 Malheur à vous, docteurs de la loi, parce qu'ayant pris la clef de la science, vous n'êtes point entrés vous-mêmes, et ceux qui voulaient entrer, vous les en avez empêchés!
Woe unto you, theologians! because you have taken away the key of knowledge: you did not come in, and you prohibited those who were coming in.
53 Quand Jésus fut sorti de là, les scribes et les pharisiens se mirent à le presser violemment et à le harceler de leurs questions,
And He having come out from thence, the scribes and Pharisees began vehemently to press on Him, and mouth after Him concerning many things;
54 lui tendant des pièges, pour s'emparer de quelque parole sortie de sa bouche.
laying in wait, to catch something from His mouth.
