1 Trois jours après, on célébrait des noces à Cana en Galilée, et la mère de Jésus y était.
On the third day there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee; and the mother of Jesus was there:
2 Jésus fut aussi invité aux noces avec ses disciples.
and Jesus and His disciples were invited to the marriage.
3 Le vin ayant manqué, la mère de Jésus lui dit: Ils n'ont plus de vin.
And they had no wine, because the wine of the marriage was exhausted. Then the mother of Jesus says to Him, There is no wine.
4 Jésus lui répondit: Femme, qu'y a-t-il entre moi et toi? Mon heure n'est pas encore venue.
And Jesus says to her, What is that to me and to thee? O woman, my hour is not yet come.
5 Sa mère dit à ceux qui servaient: Faites tout ce qu'il vous dira.
His mother says to the servants, Do whatsoever He may say to you.
6 Or, il y avait là six vases de pierre, destinés aux purifications des Juifs, et qui contenaient chacun deux ou trois mesures.
And there were six waterpots of stone sitting there according to the purification of the Jews, containing about two or three firkins. Jesus says to them,
7 Jésus leur dit: Remplissez d'eau ces vases. Et ils les remplirent jusqu'au bord.
Fill the waterpots with water. They filled them to the brim.
8 Alors il leur dit: Puisez maintenant, et portez-en au maître d'hôtel. Et ils lui en portèrent.
And He says to them, Now draw out and carry to the chief ruler of the feast,
9 Quand le maître d'hôtel eut goûté l'eau qui avait été changée en vin — il ne savait pas d'où venait ce vin, mais les serviteurs qui avaient puisé l'eau le savaient bien, — il appela l'époux,
and they brought it to him. And when the ruler of the feast tasted the water, having been made wine, and did not know whence it is (but the servants having drawn the water knew), the ruler calls the groom,
10 et il lui dit: Tout homme sert d'abord le bon vin, et ensuite le moins bon, après qu'on a bu abondamment. Toi, tu as gardé le bon vin jusqu'à maintenant.
and says to him, Every man first sets forth the good wine; and when they have drunk freely, the inferior: but thou hast kept the good wine until now.
11 C'est ainsi que Jésus fit à Cana, en Galilée, le premier de ses miracles, et qu'il manifesta sa gloire; et ses disciples crurent en lui.
Jesus did this, the beginning of miracles, in Cana of Galilee, and manifested His glory; and His disciples believed on Him.
12 Après cela, il descendit à Capernaüm, avec sa mère, ses frères et ses disciples; et ils n'y demeurèrent que peu de jours.
After this He and His mother, and His brothers and His disciples went down into Capernaum, and abode there not many days.
13 La Pâque des Juifs était proche; et Jésus monta à Jérusalem.
And the passover of the Jews were nigh, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.
14 Il trouva dans le temple les marchands de boeufs, de brebis et de pigeons, et les changeurs qui s'y étaient installés.
And He found in the temple those selling oxen and sheep and doves, and the money-changers sitting:
15 Ayant fait un fouet de cordes, il les chassa tous du temple, ainsi que les brebis et les boeufs; il répandit la monnaie des changeurs et renversa leurs tables.
and having made a scourge of cords, He cast all out of the temple, both the sheep and the oxen, and poured out the money of the exchangers, and over-turned the tables.
16 Et il dit à ceux qui vendaient les pigeons: Otez cela d'ici; ne faites pas de la maison de mon Père une maison de trafic.
And He said to those selling doves; Take these things hence, make not the house of my Father a house of merchandise.
17 Alors ses disciples se souvinrent de ce qui est écrit: «Le zèle de ta maison me dévore.»
And His disciples remembered that it is written, The zeal of thy house doth eat me up.
18 Les Juifs, prenant la parole, lui dirent: Quel miracle nous fais-tu voir, pour agir de la sorte?
Then the Jews responded and said to Him, What sign do you show us, because you do these things?
19 Jésus répondit: Détruisez ce temple, et en trois jours je le relèverai!
Jesus responded and said to them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will rear it up.
20 Les Juifs reprirent: On a mis quarante-six ans à bâtir ce temple, et toi, tu le relèverais en trois jours!
Then the Jews said, Forty and six years was this temple being built, and wilt thou rear it up in three days?
21 Mais il parlait du temple de son corps.
But He spoke concerning the temple of His body.
22 Aussi, quand il fut ressuscité des morts, ses disciples se souvinrent qu'il avait dit cela; et ils crurent à l'Écriture et à la parole que Jésus avait dite.
Then when He arose from the dead, His disciples remembered that He said these things, and believed the Scripture and words which Jesus spoke.
23 Pendant qu'il était à Jérusalem pour la fête de Pâque, plusieurs, voyant les miracles qu'il faisait, crurent en son nom.
And when He was in Jerusalem at the feast, during the passover, many believed on His name, seeing His miracles which He was doing;
24 Mais Jésus ne se fiait pas à eux, parce qu'il les connaissait tous,
and Jesus did not intrust Himself to them because He knows all men,
25 et qu'il n'avait pas besoin que personne lui rendît témoignage au sujet d'aucun homme, car il savait par lui-même ce qui était dans l'homme.
and because He had no need that any one should witness concerning man; because He was knowing what was in man.
