1 La première alliance avait aussi des règles pour le culte et un sanctuaire terrestre.
Then indeed the first tabernacle also, had ordinances of service, and a sanctuary for this world.
2 En effet, un tabernacle avait été établi: dans la première partie, appelée le lieu saint, étaient le chandelier, la table et les pains de proposition;
For the first tabernacle was made; in which there were candlesticks, and the table, and shew-bread; which is called, Holy.
3 puis, derrière le second voile, était la partie appelée le lieu très saint,
And after the second veil, was the tabernacle called Holy of holies;
4 où se trouvaient un encensoir d'or et l'arche de l'alliance, entièrement recouverte d'or. Dans l'arche étaient une urne d'or renfermant la manne, la verge d'Aaron qui avait fleuri, et les tables de l'alliance;
having the golden altar, and the ark of the covenant overladen on all sides with gold, in which was the golden pot having the manna, and the rod of Aaron which budded, and the tables of the covenant;
5 au-dessus, les chérubins glorieux, couvrant de leur ombre le propitiatoire. Mais ce n'est pas le moment de parler de tout cela en détail.
and above this was the cherubim of glory overshadowing the mercy seat; concerning which things it is not pertinent to speak specifically.
6 Les choses étant ainsi disposées, les sacrificateurs entrent tous les jours dans la première partie du tabernacle, pour y faire le service;
And these having been thus adjusted, the priests come continually into the first tabernacle, performing the services:
7 mais, dans la seconde, le souverain sacrificateur, seul, entre une fois par an, et non sans y porter du sang, qu'il offre pour lui-même et pour les péchés du peuple.
and into the second comes the high priest alone once a year, not without blood, which he offers for himself, and the errors of the people;
8 Le Saint-Esprit fait voir par là que le chemin du lieu très saint n'était pas ouvert, tant que subsistait la première partie du tabernacle.
the Holy Spirit showing this, the way of the holies has not yet been made manifest, the first tabernacle yet standing:
9 C'était un symbole en vue du temps présent, pour montrer que les dons et les sacrifices offerts sont incapables de rendre parfait, au regard de la conscience, celui qui célèbre un tel culte.
which is a figure unto the present time, in which gifts and sacrifices are offered, not being able to make the worshiper perfect, as to his conscience;
10 Il ne s'agit là que de prescriptions charnelles, concernant la nourriture, la boisson, les ablutions diverses, et qui n'ont été imposées que jusqu'à une époque de réforme.
consisting only in meats and drinks, and divers baptisms, ordinances of the flesh, abiding until the time of restitution.
11 Mais Christ est apparu, comme souverain sacrificateur des biens à venir; il a traversé le tabernacle plus grand et plus parfait, qui n'a pas été construit de main d'homme, c'est-à-dire qui n'appartient pas à cette création;
But Christ being a high priest of good things to come, through a greater and a more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is, not of this world;
12 et, après nous avoir acquis une rédemption éternelle, il est entré une fois pour toutes dans le lieu très saint, en offrant non pas le sang des boucs et des veaux, mais son propre sang. (aiōnios g166)
neither through the blood of goats and bullocks, but through his own blood, came once into the holies, having found eternal redemption. (aiōnios g166)
13 En effet, si le sang des boucs et des taureaux et la cendre d'une génisse, dont on asperge ceux qui sont souillés, les sanctifient, en leur procurant du moins la pureté de la chair,
For if the blood of goats and bulls, and the ashes of a heifer sprinkling those who have been defiled, sanctifies unto the purification of the flesh;
14 combien plus le sang du Christ qui, par l'Esprit éternel, s'est offert lui-même sans tache à Dieu, purifiera-t-il votre conscience des oeuvres mortes, pour que vous serviez le Dieu vivant! (aiōnios g166)
how much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered up himself without spot to God, purify our conscience from dead works to serve the living God? (aiōnios g166)
15 Voilà pourquoi il est le médiateur d'un testament nouveau, afin que, sa mort étant intervenue pour racheter les transgressions commises sous le premier testament, ceux qui sont appelés reçoivent l'héritage éternel qui leur a été promis. (aiōnios g166)
And on this account he is mediator of the new covenant, since there being death, unto the redemption of the transgressions unto the first covenant, those having been called may receive the promise of eternal inheritance. (aiōnios g166)
16 Car où il y a testament, il est nécessaire que la mort du testateur soit constatée.
For where there is a covenant, it is necessary to bear the death of the covenanter;
17 Un testament n'est valable qu'après la mort, puisqu'il n'a point d'effet tant que le testateur est en vie.
for a covenant is valid in case of the dead: since it has no force while the covenanter lives.
18 C'est ainsi que la première alliance elle-même n'a pas été inaugurée sans effusion de sang.
Neither was the first covenant therefore dedicated without blood.
19 Lorsque Moïse eut exposé à tout le peuple tous les commandements de la loi, il prit le sang des veaux et des boucs, avec de l'eau, de la laine écarlate et de l'hysope, et il en aspergea le livre lui-même et tout le peuple,
For every commandment having been spoken by Moses to all the people according to law, having taken the blood of bullocks and goats, with water, and scarlet wool, and hyssop, he sprinkled both the book itself and all the people,
20 en disant: «Ceci est le sang de l'alliance que Dieu a commandé de conclure avec nous.»
saying, This is the blood of the covenant which God established unto you.
21 Puis, il aspergea également avec ce sang le tabernacle et tous les ustensiles du culte.
And he likewise also sprinkled the tabernacle, and all the vessels of the ministry, with blood.
22 Et en général, selon la loi, tout est purifié avec du sang: sans effusion de sang, il n'y a pas de pardon.
And according to the law, almost all things are purified by blood; and without the shedding of blood there is no remission.
23 Si donc les images des choses du ciel ont dû être purifiées de cette manière, les choses célestes elles-mêmes devaient l'être par des sacrifices plus précieux encore.
Therefore it is necessary that the pattern of the things in these heavens be purified; and the heavenly things themselves with greater sacrifices than these.
24 En effet, Christ n'est pas entré dans un sanctuaire fait de main d'homme, imitation du vrai sanctuaire; mais il est entré dans le ciel même, afin de comparaître maintenant pour nous devant la face de Dieu.
For Christ did not come into the sanctuaries made with hands, the pattern of the true; but into heaven itself, now to be made manifest unto the face of God in our behalf:
25 Et ce n'est pas pour s'offrir plusieurs fois lui-même, comme le souverain sacrificateur qui entre dans le lieu très saint, chaque année, avec un autre sang que le sien;
neither in order that he may frequently offer up himself, as the high priest goes into the holies once a year with the blood of another;
26 autrement, il aurait fallu qu'il souffrît plusieurs fois depuis le commencement du monde. Mais il a paru une seule fois, à la fin des âges, pour abolir le péché par son sacrifice. (aiōn g165)
since it behooved him frequently to suffer from the foundation of the world: but now in the end of the ages he has been made manifest unto the removal of sin through the sacrifice of himself. (aiōn g165)
27 Et de même qu'il est réservé aux hommes de mourir une fois, après quoi vient le jugement,
And inasmuch as it is appointed unto men once to die, and after this is the judgment:
28 de même le Christ s'est offert une seule fois pour ôter les péchés de plusieurs; et il apparaîtra une seconde fois, non plus pour ôter le péché, mais pour donner le salut à ceux qui l'attendent.
so also Christ, having once been offered up to bear away the sins of many, will appear the second time apart from sin unto salvation to those expecting him.
