Éphésiens 6
1 Enfants, obéissez à vos parents selon le Seigneur; car cela est juste.
Children, obey your parents in our Lord; for this is right.
2 «Honore ton père et ta mère — c'est le premier commandement accompagné d'une promesse,
And the first commandment with promise, is this: Honor thy father and thy mother;
3 — afin que tu sois heureux et que tu vives longtemps sur la terre»
that it may be well with thee, and that thy life may be prolonged on the earth.
4 Et vous, pères, n'irritez pas vos enfants, mais élevez-les en les instruisant et en les avertissant selon le Seigneur.
And parents, anger not your children; but train them up in the discipline and doctrine of our Lord.
5 Serviteurs, obéissez avec crainte et avec respect, dans la simplicité de votre coeur, à ceux qui sont vos maîtres selon la chair, comme au Christ,
Servants, be obedient to your masters after the flesh, with fear, and with trepidation, and with simplicity of heart, as unto the Messiah.
6 ne les servant pas seulement sous leurs yeux, comme si vous cherchiez à plaire aux hommes, mais comme des serviteurs du Christ, qui font de bon coeur la volonté de Dieu.
Not in the sight of the eye, as if ye were pleasing men; but as the servants of the Messiah, who are doing the will of God.
7 Servez-les avec affection, comme si vous serviez le Seigneur lui-même, et non pas les hommes,
And serve them with your whole heart, in love, as if serving our Lord and not men;
8 sachant que chacun, soit esclave, soit libre, recevra du Seigneur sa récompense, selon le bien qu'il aura fait.
knowing that whatever good thing a man may do, the same will be recompensed to him by our Lord, whether he be a servant or a free man.
9 Quant à vous, maîtres, agissez de même à l'égard de vos serviteurs, et abstenez-vous de menaces, sachant que vous avez, vous et eux, le même maître dans le ciel, et que devant lui il n'y a point d'acception de personnes.
Also ye masters, do ye so to your servants. Forgive them a fault; because ye know, that ye have a master in heaven; and there is no respect of persons with him.
10 Au reste, fortifiez-vous dans le Seigneur, et, par sa force toute-puissante.
Finally, my brethren, be strong in our Lord, and; in the energy of his power:
11 Revêtez-vous de toutes les armes de Dieu, afin de pouvoir tenir ferme contre les embûches du Diable.
And put ye on; the whole armor of God, so that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the Accuser.
12 En effet, ce n'est pas contre la chair et le sang que nous avons à combattre, mais contre les dominations, contre les puissances. contre les princes de ce monde de ténèbres, contre les esprits mauvais qui sont dans les régions célestes. (aiōn g165)
For our conflict is not with flesh and blood, but with principalities, and with those in authority, and with the possessors of this dark world, and with the evil spirits that are beneath heaven. (aiōn g165)
13 C'est pourquoi, prenez toutes les armes de Dieu, afin que vous puissiez résister dans le mauvais jour, et qu'ayant tout surmonté, vous demeuriez fermes.
Therefore put ye on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to meet the evil one; and, being in all respects prepared, may stand firm.
14 Oui, tenez ferme, ayant la vérité pour ceinture de vos reins, étant revêtus de la cuirasse de la justice,
Stand up therefore, and gird your loins with truth; and put on the breastplate of righteousness;
15 ayant pour chaussures les bonnes dispositions que donne l'Évangile de paix.
and defend your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace.
16 Prenez, par-dessus tout, le bouclier de la foi, au moyen duquel vous pourrez éteindre tous les traits enflammés du Malin.
And herewith take to you the confidence of faith, by which ye will have power to quench all the fiery darts of the evil one.
17 Prenez aussi le casque du salut et l'épée de l'Esprit, c'est-à-dire la Parole de Dieu.
And put on the helmet of rescue; and take hold of the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
18 Faites en tout temps, par l'Esprit, toutes sortes de prières et de supplications. Veillez à cela avec une entière persévérance, et priez pour tous les saints.
And pray ye, with all prayers and supplications, in spirit, at all times: and in prayer be watchful, at all seasons, praying constantly, and interceding for all the saints:
19 Priez aussi pour moi, afin qu'il me soit donné, quand j'ouvre la bouche, de faire connaître en toute liberté le mystère de l'Évangile,
and also for me; that language may be given me, in the opening of my mouth; so that I may boldly proclaim the mystery of the gospel,
20 — pour lequel je remplis les fonctions d'ambassadeur dans les chaînes, — afin, dis-je, que j'en parle avec hardiesse, comme je dois en parler.
of which I am a messenger in chains; that I may utter it boldly, as I ought to utter it.
21 Pour que vous sachiez, vous aussi, ce qui me concerne et ce que je fais, Tychique, notre frère bien-aimé, qui est un fidèle ministre du Seigneur, vous mettra au courant de tout.
And that ye also may know my affairs, and what I am doing, lo, Tychicus, a beloved brother, and a faithful minister in our Lord, will acquaint you;
22 Je vous l'ai envoyé tout exprès, afin que vous appreniez quelle est notre situation, et pour qu'il console vos coeurs.
whom I have sent to you for this purpose, that ye might know what is going on with me, and that your hearts may be comforted.
23 Que la paix soit donnée aux frères, ainsi que l'amour avec la foi, de la part de Dieu, le Père, et du Seigneur Jésus-Christ!
Peace be with the brethren, and love with faith, from God the Father, and from our Lord Jesus the Messiah.
24 Que la grâce soit avec tous ceux qui aiment notre Seigneur Jésus-Christ d'un amour inaltérable!
Grace be with all them who love our Lord Jesus the Messiah without corruptness. Amen.
