Actes 1
1 Dans mon premier livre, ô Théophile, j'ai parlé de tout ce que Jésus a fait et enseigné depuis le commencement,
In the former treatise (Deare frende Theophilus) I have written of all that Iesus beganne to do and teache
2 jusqu'au jour où il fut élevé dans le ciel, après avoir donné ses ordres, par le Saint-Esprit, aux apôtres qu'il avait choisis.
vntyll the daye in the which he was taken vp after that he thorowe the holy goost had geven commaundementes vnto the Apostles which he had chosen:
3 Il leur était apparu vivant, après avoir souffert; et il leur avait donné plusieurs preuves de sa résurrection, se faisant voir à eux pendant quarante jours et leur parlant de ce qui concerne le royaume de Dieu.
to whom also he shewed him selfe alyve after his passion by many tokens apperynge vnto them fourty dayes and speakynge of the kyngdome of god
4 Comme il se trouvait avec eux, il leur recommanda de ne point partir de Jérusalem, mais d'y attendre que fût accomplie la promesse du Père, celle dont je vous ai parlé, — leur disait-il;
and gaddered them togeder and commaunded the that they shuld not departe from Ierusalem: but to wayte for ye promys of the father whereof ye have herde of me.
5 — car Jean a baptisé d'eau, mais vous, vous serez baptisés du Saint-Esprit dans peu de jours.
For Iohn baptised wt water: but ye shalbe baptised with the holy goost and that with in this feawe dayes.
6 Ceux donc qui étaient là réunis lui demandèrent: Seigneur, est-ce dans ce temps-là que tu rétabliras le royaume d'Israël?
When they were come togeder they axed of him sayinge: Lorde wilt thou at this tyme restore agayne ye kyngdome to Israel?
7 Il leur répondit: Ce n'est pas à vous de connaître les temps ou les moments que le Père a fixés de sa propre autorité.
And he sayde vnto them: It is not for you to knowe the tymes or the seasons which ye father hath put in his awne power:
8 Mais vous recevrez la vertu du Saint-Esprit, qui descendra sur vous; et vous serez mes témoins, tant à Jérusalem que dans toute la Judée et la Samarie, et jusqu'aux extrémités de la terre.
but ye shall receave power of the holy goost which shall come on you. And ye shall be witnesses vnto me in Ierusalem and in all Iewrye and in Samary and even vnto the worldes ende.
9 Après avoir prononcé ces paroles, il fut enlevé, pendant qu'ils le regardaient, et une nuée le déroba à leurs yeux.
And when he had spoken these thinges whyll they behelde he was take vp and a cloude receaved him vp out of their sight.
10 Et comme ils avaient les regards attachés au ciel, pendant qu'il s'en allait, voici que deux hommes, en vêtements blancs, se présentèrent devant eux,
And while they looked stedfastly vp to heaven as he went beholde two men stode by them in white apparell
11 et leur dirent: Hommes de Galilée, pourquoi vous arrêtez-vous à regarder au ciel? Ce Jésus, qui a été enlevé du milieu de vous dans le ciel, en reviendra de la même manière que vous l'y avez vu monter.
which also sayde: ye men of Galile why stonde ye gasinge vp into heave? This same Iesus which is taken vp fro you in to heaven shall so come even as ye haue sene him goo into heaven.
12 Alors ils retournèrent à Jérusalem, de la montagne, appelée montagne des Oliviers, qui est près de Jérusalem, à la distance d'un chemin de sabbat.
Then returned they vnto Ierusalem from mount olivete which is nye to Ierusalem coteyninge a Saboth dayes iorney.
13 Quand ils furent arrivés, ils montèrent dans la chambre haute, où se tenaient d'ordinaire Pierre, Jean, Jacques et André, Philippe et Thomas, Barthélémy et Matthieu, Jacques, fils d'Alphée, Simon le zélote, et Jude, fils de Jacques.
And when they were come in they went vp into a parler where abode both Peter and Iames Iohn and Andrew Philip and Thomas Bartlemew and Mathew Iames the sonne of Alpheus and Simo Zelotes and Iudas Iames sonne.
14 Tous ceux-là persévéraient d'un commun accord dans la prière, avec les femmes, avec Marie, mère de Jésus, et avec ses frères.
These all cotinued with one acorde in prayer and supplicacion with the wemen and Mary the mother of Iesu and with his brethren.
15 En ces jours-là, Pierre se leva au milieu des frères, — qui étaient assemblés au nombre d'environ cent-vingt, — et il dit:
And in those dayes Peter stode vp in the myddes of the disciples and sayde (the noumbre of names that were to gether were aboute an hondred and twenty)
16 Mes frères, il fallait que fût accompli ce que le Saint-Esprit a prédit dans l'Écriture, par la bouche de David, au sujet de Judas, qui a été le guide de ceux qui ont arrêté Jésus.
Ye men and brethren this scripture must have nedes ben fulfilled which the holy goost thorow ye mouth of David spake before of Iudas which was gyde to them that tooke Iesus.
17 Car il était l'un des nôtres, et il avait reçu sa part de notre ministère.
For he was noubred with vs and had obtayned fellouship in this ministracion.
18 Cet homme, après avoir acheté un champ avec le salaire de son crime, est tombé en avant, son corps s'est ouvert par le milieu, et toutes ses entrailles se sont répandues.
And the same hath now possessed a plot of grounde with the rewarde of iniquite and when he was hanged brast a sondre in ye myddes and all his bowels gusshed oute.
19 — Cela est si bien connu de tous les habitants de Jérusalem, que ce champ est appelé, dans leur langue, Haceldama, c'est-à-dire: le champ du sang. —
And it is knowe vnto all the inhabiters of Ierusalem: in so moche that that felde is called in their mother tonge Acheldama that is to saye the bloud felde.
20 Aussi est-il écrit dans le livre des Psaumes: «Que sa demeure devienne déserte, et qu'il n'y ait personne qui l'habite»; et encore: «Qu'un autre prenne sa charge.»
It is written in the boke of Psalmes: His habitacio be voyde and no man be dwellinge therin: and his bisshoprycke let another take.
21 Il faut donc que, parmi les hommes qui nous ont accompagnés pendant tout le temps que le Seigneur Jésus a vécu avec nous,
Wherfore of these me which have copanyed with vs all ye tyme that the Lorde Iesus wet in and out amonge vs
22 depuis le baptême de Jean jusqu'au jour où il a été enlevé du milieu de nous, il y en ait un qui soit témoin avec nous de sa résurrection.
begynninge at the baptyme of Iohn vnto that same daye that he was taken vp from vs must one be ordeyned to be are witnes with vs of his resurreccion.
23 Ils en présentèrent deux: Joseph, dit Barsabas, surnommé Justus, et Matthias.
And they appoynted two Ioseph called Barsabas (whose syr name was Iustus) and Mathias.
24 Puis ils firent cette prière: Seigneur, toi qui connais les coeurs de tous, montre-nous lequel de ces deux hommes tu as choisi,
And they prayed sayinge: thou Lorde which knowest the hertes of all me shewe whether of these two thou hast chosen
25 pour occuper, dans ce ministère de l'apostolat, la place que Judas a abandonnée pour s'en aller en son lieu.
that the one maye take the roume of this ministracion and apostleshippe from the which Iudas by transgression fell that he myght go to his awne place.
26 Ensuite ils tirèrent au sort; et le sort tomba sur Matthias, qui fut associé aux onze apôtres.
And they gave forthe their lottes and the lot fell on Mathias and he was counted with the eleven Apostles.
