Matthieu 26
1 Quand Jésus eut achevé tous ces discours, il dit à ses disciples:
And it happened, when Yeshua had finished all these words, that he said to his disciples,
2 «Vous savez que dans deux jours aura lieu la Pâque, et le Fils de l'homme va être livré pour être crucifié.»
"You know that after two days the Passover is coming, and the Son of Man will be delivered up to be crucified."
3 Alors s'assemblèrent les chefs des prêtres et les Anciens du peuple dans la coure du Grand-Prêtre appelé Kaïphe,
Then the chief priests and the scribes and the elders of the people gathered together in the court of the high priest, who was called Qayapha.
4 et ils tinrent conseil sur les moyens de s'emparer de Jésus par ruse et de le tuer.
They took counsel together that they might take Yeshua by deceit, and kill him.
5 Toutefois ils disaient: «Rien pendant la fête, il pourrait y avoir un soulèvement du peuple. »
But they said, "Not during the feast, lest a riot occur among the people."
6 Jésus était à Béthanie, dans la maison de Simon le lépreux.
Now when Yeshua was in Beth-Naiya, in the house of Shimon the leper,
7 Comme il était à table, une femme portant un vase d'albâtre rempli d'un parfum de grand prix, s'approcha de lui et répandit ce parfum sur sa tête.
a woman came to him having an alabaster jar of very expensive ointment, and she poured it on his head as he sat at the table.
8 Ce que voyant, les disciples s'indignèrent. «A quoi bon cette perte?» dirent-ils.
But when the disciples saw this, they were indignant, saying, "Why this waste?
9 «On aurait pu vendre cela fort cher et en donner le prix à des pauvres.»
For this ointment might have been sold for much, and given to the poor."
10 Mais Jésus, le sachant, leur dit: «Pourquoi faites-vous de la peine à cette femme? C'est une bonne oeuvre qu'elle a faite pour moi:
However, knowing this, Yeshua said to them, "Why do you trouble the woman? Because she has done a good work for me.
11 car les pauvres, vous les avez toujours avec vous, tandis que moi, vous ne m'avez pas pour toujours.
For you always have the poor with you; but you do not always have me.
12 Si elle a répandu sur mon corps ce parfum, elle l'a fait pour m'ensevelir.
For in pouring this ointment on my body, she did it to prepare me for burial.
13 En vérité, je vous le dis: Partout où sera prêché cet Évangile — dans le monde entier — on racontera aussi, en mémoire d'elle, ce qu'elle a fait.»
Truly I tell you, wherever this Good News is preached in the whole world, what this woman has done will also be spoken of as a memorial of her."
14 C'est alors que l'un des douze, appelé Judas l'Iskariôte, alla, trouver les chefs des prêtres
Then one of the twelve, who was called Yehudah Sekariuta, went to the chief priests,
15 et leur dit: «Que voulez-vous me donner? je vous le livrerai.» Ils lui payèrent trente sicles d'argent.
and said, "What are you willing to give me, that I should deliver him to you?" They weighed out for him thirty pieces of silver.
16 A partir de ce moment, il chercha une occasion favorable pour le livrer.
From that time he sought opportunity to betray him.
17 Le premier jour des Azymes, les disciples vinrent à Jésus et dirent: «Où veux-tu que nous te préparions le repas pascal?»
Now on the first day of unleavened bread, the disciples came to Yeshua, saying, "Where do you want us to prepare for you to eat the Passover?"
18 «Allez à la ville, leur répondit-il, chez un tel et parlez-lui ainsi: le maître te fait dire: mon temps est proche; c'est chez toi que je célèbre la Pâque avec mes disciples.»
He said, "Go into the city to a certain person, and tell him, 'The Teacher says, "My time is near. I will keep the Passover at your house with my disciples."'"
19 Les disciples firent comme Jésus leur avait ordonné et ils préparèrent la Pâque.
The disciples did as Yeshua commanded them, and they prepared the Passover.
20 Le soir venu, il se mit à table avec les douze,
Now when evening had come, he was reclining at the table with the twelve.
21 et il dit pendant qu’ils mangeaient: «En vérité, je vous le dis, un de vous me livrera.»
As they were eating, he said, "Truly I tell you that one of you will betray me."
22 Extrêmement affligés, ils se mirent chacun à lui demander: «Est-ce moi, Seigneur?»
They were exceedingly sorrowful, and each began to ask him, "It is not me, is it, Lord?"
23 Il leur répondit par ces paroles: «Celui qui a mis la main au plat avec moi, celui-là même me livrera.
He answered, "He who dipped his hand with me in the dish, the same will betray me.
24 Le Fils de l'homme cependant s'en va, selon qu'il est écrit de lui; mais malheur à cet homme par qui le Fils de l'homme est livré! Mieux vaudrait pour cet homme-là ne jamais être né!»
The Son of Man goes, even as it is written of him, but woe to that man through whom the Son of Man is betrayed. It would be better for that man if he had not been born."
25 Judas, celui qui le livra, s'adressa alors à lui: Est-ce que c'est moi, Rabbi?» - «Tu l’as dit», répondit Jésus.
Yehudah, who betrayed him, answered, "It is not me, is it, Rabbi?" He said to him, "You said it."
26 Pendant qu'ils mangeaient, Jésus prit du pain et, ayant prononcé la bénédiction, il le rompit et le donna aux disciples en disant: «Prenez, mangez, ceci est mon corps.»
As they were eating, Yeshua took bread, gave thanks for it, and broke it. He gave to the disciples, and said, "Take, eat; this is my body."
27 Prenant ensuite une coupe, il rendit grâces, la leur donna et dit: «Buvez-en tous;
He took a cup, gave thanks, and gave to them, saying, "All of you drink it,
28 car ceci est mon sang, le sang de l'alliance, lequel, en faveur de plusieurs, est répandu pour la rémission des péchés.
for this is my blood of the new covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.
29 Et désormais, je vous le dis, je ne boirai plus de ce fruit de la vigne jusqu'en ce jour où je le boirai avec vous, nouveau, dans le Royaume de mon Père.»
But I tell you that I will not drink of this fruit of the vine from now on, until that day when I drink it anew with you in my Father's Kingdom."
30 Après le chant des Psaumes, ils partirent pour le mont des Oliviers.
When they had sung the hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives.
31 Jésus leur dit alors: «Cette nuit, je vous serai à tous une occasion de tomber. Il est écrit en effet: Je frapperai le berger et les brebis du troupeau seront dispersées.
Then Yeshua said to them, "All of you will be made to stumble because of me tonight, for it is written, 'I will strike the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock will be scattered.'
32 Mais, après ma résurrection, je vous précéderai en Galilée.»
But after I am raised up, I will go before you into Galila."
33 Pierre lui adressa ces paroles: «Quand tous viendraient à faillir à cause de toi, pour moi je ne succomberai jamais!»
But Kipha answered him, "Even if all will be made to stumble because of you, I will never be made to stumble."
34 Jésus lui répondit: «En vérité, je te dis que, durant cette nuit, avant qu'un coq chante, tu me renieras trois fois!»
Yeshua said to him, "Truly I tell you that tonight, before the rooster crows, you will deny me three times."
35 Pierre lui répliqua: «Me fallût-il mourir avec toi, non, je ne te renierai pas!» Tous les disciples parlèrent de même.
Kipha said to him, "Even if I must die with you, I will not deny you." All of the disciples also said likewise.
36 Alors Jésus vint avec les disciples en un lieu appelé Gethsémané et leur dit: «Asseyez-vous ici pendant que je me retirerai là et que je prierai.»
Then Yeshua came with them to a place called Gadsiman, and said to his disciples, "Sit here, while I go there and pray."
37 Puis, prenant avec lui Pierre et les deux fils de Zébédée, il commença à être dans la tristesse et dans l'angoisse;
He took with him Kipha and the two sons of Zabedai, and began to be sorrowful and severely troubled.
38 il leur dit alors: «Mon âme est accablée de tristesse jusqu'à la mort. Restez ici et veillez avec moi!»
Then he said to them, "My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death. Stay here, and watch with me."
39 Puis, s'étant un peu avancé, il se prosterna la face contre terre, et il pria en disant: «Mon Père, si cela est possible, que cette coupe passe loin de moi! Toutefois, non pas comme je veux, mais comme tu veux.»
He went forward a little, fell on his face, and prayed, saying, "My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass away from me; nevertheless, not what I desire, but what you desire."
40 Il retourna près des disciples et il les trouva qui dormaient et il dit à Pierre: «Ainsi vous n'avez pas eu la force de veiller une seule heure avec moi?
He came to the disciples, and found them sleeping, and said to Kipha, "What, could you not watch with me for one hour?
41 Veillez et priez, afin de ne pas succombera l'épreuve; certes, l'esprit est prompt, mais la chair est faible.»
Watch and pray, that you do not enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak."
42 De nouveau, une seconde fois, il s'éloigna et pria, en disant: «Mon Père, si cette coupe ne peut passer sans que je la boive, que ta volonté soit faite!»
Again, a second time he went away, and prayed, saying, "My Father, if this cannot pass away unless I drink it, your desire be done."
43 Il revint encore vers eux et les trouva qui dormaient; leurs yeux, en effet, étaient appesantis.
He came again and found them sleeping, for their eyes were heavy.
44 Il les laissa, s'en alla de nouveau et pria pour la troisième fois, répétant les mêmes paroles.
He left them again, went away, and prayed a third time, saying the same words.
45 Puis il vint aux disciples et leur dit: «Dormez maintenant; reposez-vous; voici que l'heure approche et le Fils de l'homme va être livré entre les mains des pécheurs.
Then he came to the disciples, and said to them, "Sleep on now, and take your rest. Look, the hour is near, and the Son of Man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.
46 Levez-vous! allons! le voici! il approche celui qui me livre!»
Arise, let us be going. Look, he who betrays me is near."
47 Il parlait encore, lorsqu'arriva Judas, l'un des douze, et avec lui, envoyée par les chefs des prêtres et les Anciens du peuple, une foule nombreuse armée d'épées et de bâtons.
While he was still speaking, look, Yehudah, one of the twelve, came, and with him a large crowd with swords and clubs, from the chief priests and elders of the people.
48 Le traître était convenu avec eux d'un signal; il leur avait dit: «Celui auquel je donnerai un baiser, ce sera lui; vous vous en saisirez, »
Now he who betrayed him gave them a sign, saying, "Whoever I kiss, he is the one. Seize him."
49 Il s'approcha aussitôt de Jésus et, en lui disant: «Salut, Rabbi!», il l'embrassa, avec effusion.
Immediately he came to Yeshua, and said, "Greetings, Rabbi." and kissed him.
50 «Mon ami, lui dit Jésus, pourquoi es-tu ici?» Ils s'avancèrent alors et, mettant la main sur lui, ils le saisirent.
Yeshua said to him, "Friend, why are you here?" Then they came and laid hands on Yeshua, and took him.
51 Aussitôt un de ceux qui étaient avec Jésus étendit la main, tira son épée, frappa le serviteur du Grand-Prêtre et lui coupa l'oreille.
And look, one of those who were with Yeshua stretched out his hand, and drew his sword, and struck the servant of the high priest, and struck off his ear.
52 Jésus lui dit alors: «Remets ton épée à sa place, car tous ceux qui prennent l'épée périront par l'épée.
Then Yeshua said to him, "Put your sword back into its place, for all those who take the sword will die by the sword.
53 Crois-tu qu'il me serait impossible d'invoquer mon Père, qui enverrait à mon secours, maintenant même, plus de douze légions d'anges;
Or do you think that I could not ask my Father, and he would even now send me more than twelve legions of angels?
54 mais comment s'accompliraient les Écritures, où il est annoncé qu'il en doit être ainsi?»
How then would the Scriptures be fulfilled that it must be so?"
55 Ce fut à ce moment que Jésus dit à cette troupe: «Pour vous emparer de moi, vous êtes venus comme contre un brigand, avec des épées et des bâtons. Tous les jours, assis dans le Temple, j'enseignais et vous ne m'avez pas arrêté.».
In that hour Yeshua said to the crowds, "Have you come out as against a robber with swords and clubs to seize me? I sat daily in the temple teaching, and you did not arrest me.
56 (Tout cela arriva pour accomplir ce qu'avaient écrit les prophètes). L'abandonnant alors, tous les disciples prirent la fuite.
But all this has happened, that the Scriptures of the prophets might be fulfilled." Then all the disciples left him, and fled.
57 Ceux qui avaient arrêté Jésus le conduisirent chez Kaïphe, le grand-prêtre, où s'étaient réunis les Scribes et les Anciens.
Those who had taken Yeshua led him away to Qayapha the high priest, where the scribes and the elders were gathered together.
58 Pierre pourtant le suivait de loin. Il alla jusqu'à la cour du Grand-Prêtre, y entra et s'assit parmi les gens de service pour voir comment cela finirait.
But Kipha followed him from a distance, to the court of the high priest, and entered in and sat with the officers, to see the end.
59 Les chefs des prêtres et le Sanhédrin tout entier cherchaient contre Jésus quelque faux témoignage qui le fît condamner à mort;
Now the chief priests and the whole council sought false testimony against Yeshua so they could put him to death;
60 mais ils n'en trouvaient pas, bien que plusieurs faux témoins se fussent présentés. Enfin, il en survint deux
and they found none, even though many false witnesses came forward. But afterward two came forward,
61 qui parlèrent ainsi: «Cet homme a dit: «Je peux renverser le Temple de Dieu et en trois jours le rebâtir.»
and said, "This man said, 'I am able to destroy the temple of God, and to build it in three days.'"
62 Le Grand-Prêtre se leva et lui dit: «Tu ne réponds rien à ce que ces gens-ci déposent contre toi?»
The high priest stood up, and said to him, "Have you no answer? What is this that these testify against you?"
63 Mais Jésus gardait le silence. Le Grand-Prêtre lui dit: «Par le Dieu vivant, je t'adjure de nous dire si tu es le Christ, le Fils de Dieu.»
But Yeshua held his peace. The high priest answered him, "I adjure you by the living God, that you tell us whether you are the Meshikha, the Son of God."
64 Jésus lui répondit: «Tu l'as dit; et, de plus, je vous le déclare, désormais vous verrez le Fils de l'homme siégeant à la droite de la Puissance et venant sur les nuées du ciel.»
Yeshua said to him, "You have said it. Nevertheless, I tell you, after this you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of Power, and coming on the clouds of the sky."
65 Alors le Grand-Prêtre déchira ses vêtements: «Il a blasphémé! dit-il, qu'avons-nous encore besoin de témoins? vous venez vous-même d'entendre le blasphème!
Then the high priest tore his clothing, saying, "He has spoken blasphemy. Why do we need any more witnesses? See, now you have heard his blasphemy.
66 Quel est votre avis?» Ils répondirent: «Il mérite la mort.»
What do you think?" They answered, "He is worthy of death."
67 Dès ce moment ils lui crachèrent au visage et lui donnèrent des coups de poing; d'autres des coups de bâton,
Then they spit in his face and beat him with their fists, and some slapped him,
68 en disant: «Fais le prophète, Christ, en nous nommant celui qui t'a frappé.»
saying, "Prophesy to us, you Meshikha. Who hit you?"
69 Pierre cependant était dehors, assis dans la cour. Une servante, s’étant approchée, lui dit: «Toi aussi tu étais avec Jésus de Galilée.»
Now Kipha was sitting outside in the courtyard, and a servant girl came to him, saying, "You were also with Yeshua, the Galilean."
70 Et lui de le nier devant tout le monde. «Je ne sais pas, dit-il, de quoi tu parles.»
But he denied it before them all, saying, "I do not know what you are talking about."
71 Comme il repassait la porte, une autre servante l'aperçut et s'adressant à ceux qui étaient présents: «Celui-ci était avec Jésus de Nazareth.»
And when he had gone out onto the porch, another girl saw him, and said to those who were there, "This man also was with Yeshua the Natsraya."
72 Il le nia de nouveau: «Je jure que je ne connais pas cet homme.»
Again he denied it with an oath, "I do not know the man."
73 Un moment après, ceux qui étaient là vinrent à Pierre et lui dirent: «Certainement, tu en es, toi aussi; ta prononciation te trahit.»
After a little while those who stood by came and said to Kipha, "Surely you are also one of them, for your accent makes you known."
74 Il se livra alors à des imprécations; il jura qu'il ne connaissait pas cet homme. Soudain un coq chanta.
Then he began to curse and to swear, "I do not know the man." Immediately the rooster crowed.
75 Et Pierre se souvint de la parole qu'avait dite Jésus: «Avant qu'un coq chante, tu me renieras trois fois.» Il sortit et, dehors, il pleura amèrement.
Kipha remembered the word which Yeshua had said, "Before the rooster crows, you will deny me three times." He went out and wept bitterly.
