1 Commencement de l’Évangile de Jésus-Christ.
Beginning of the glad tidings of Jesus Christ, Son of God;
2 Ainsi qu’il est écrit dans le prophète Ésaïe: «Voici j'envoie mon messager pour te précéder Et te préparer le chemin;
as it is written in [Isaiah] the prophet, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, who shall prepare thy way.
3 Une voix crie dans le désert: Préparez la voie du Seigneur, Aplanissez ses sentiers, »
Voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare the way of [the] Lord, make his paths straight.
4 Jean parut dans le désert, donnant et prêchant un baptême de repentance pour la rémission des péchés.
There came John baptising in the wilderness, and preaching [the] baptism of repentance for remission of sins.
5 Tout le pays de Judée et tous les habitants de Jérusalem accouraient à lui et ils étaient baptisés par lui dans le Jourdain, en confessant leurs péchés.
And there went out to him all the district of Judaea, and all they of Jerusalem, and were baptised by him in the river Jordan, confessing their sins.
6 Jean avait un vêtement de poils de chameau et une ceinture de cuir autour des reins, et il se nourrissait de sauterelles et de miel sauvage.
And John was clothed in camel's hair, and a leathern girdle about his loins, and ate locusts and wild honey.
7 Il disait dans sa prédication: «Il va venir, après moi, celui qui est plus puissant que moi! Je ne suis pas même digne, en me baissant, de délier la courroie de ses sandales.
And he preached, saying, There comes he that is mightier than I after me, the thong of whose sandals I am not fit to stoop down and unloose.
8 Moi, je vous ai baptisés d'eau; mais lui vous baptisera avec l'Esprit saint.»
I indeed have baptised you with water, but he shall baptise you with [the] Holy Spirit.
9 Or, ce fut en ces jours mêmes que Jésus arriva de Nazareth en Galilée et il fut baptisé par Jean dans le Jourdain.
And it came to pass in those days [that] Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was baptised by John at the Jordan.
10 Soudain, comme il sortait de l'eau, il vit les cieux ouverts et l'Esprit en forme de colombe descendre sur lui,
And straightway going up from the water, he saw the heavens parting asunder, and the Spirit, as a dove, descending upon him.
11 et des cieux vint une voix: «Tu es mon Fils bien-aimé, en toi je me complais.»
And there came a voice out of the heavens: Thou art my beloved Son, in thee I have found my delight.
12 Et l'Esprit aussitôt entraîna Jésus au désert;
And immediately the Spirit drives him out into the wilderness.
13 et il fut quarante jours dans le désert, tenté par Satan, et il fut parmi les bêtes, et les anges le servaient.
And he was in the wilderness forty days tempted by Satan, and was with the wild beasts; and the angels ministered to him.
14 Après que Jean eut été livré, Jésus se rendit en Galilée et y prêcha l'Évangile de Dieu:
But after John was delivered up, Jesus came into Galilee preaching the glad tidings of the kingdom of God,
15 «Les temps sont accomplis; le Royaume de Dieu est proche; repentez-vous et croyez à l'Évangile.
and saying, The time is fulfilled and the kingdom of God has drawn nigh; repent and believe in the glad tidings.
16 Comme il longeait la mer de Galilée, il vit Simon et son frère André jetant leurs filets dans la mer, car ils étaient pêcheurs.
And walking by the sea of Galilee, he saw Simon, and Andrew, [Simon's] brother, casting out a net in the sea, for they were fishers.
17 Jésus leur dit: «Venez après moi et je vous ferai devenir des pêcheurs d'hommes.»
And Jesus said to them, Come after me, and I will make you become fishers of men;
18 Sur-le-champ ils abandonnèrent les filets et le suivirent.
and straightway leaving their trawl-nets they followed him.
19 S'étant avancé un peu plus loin, il vit, dans leurs barques, Jacques, fils de Zébédée, et Jean, son frère, qui raccommodaient leurs filets.
And going on thence a little, he saw James the [son] of Zebedee, and John his brother, and these [were] in the ship repairing the trawl-nets;
20 Il les appela aussitôt; et ceux-ci, laissant leur père Zébédée dans la barque avec les hommes de service, partirent à sa suite.
and straightway he called them; and leaving their father Zebedee in the ship with the hired servants, they went away after him.
21 Ils arrivèrent à Capharnaüm. Il commença immédiatement à entrer les jours de sabbat dans la synagogue et à y enseigner;
And they go into Capernaum. And straightway on the sabbath he entered into the synagogue and taught.
22 et ils étaient extrêmement frappés de son enseignement; car il le donnait comme ayant autorité, et non comme les Scribes.
And they were astonished at his doctrine, for he taught them as having authority, and not as the scribes.
23 Il y avait à ce moment même dans leur synagogue un homme possédé d'un esprit impur; il s'écria:
And there was in their synagogue a man [possessed] by an unclean spirit, and he cried out
24 «Qu'y a-t-il entre nous et toi, Jésus de Nazareth? Tu es venu pour nous perdre; je sais qui tu es: le Saint de Dieu!»
saying, Eh! what have we to do with thee, Jesus, Nazarene? Art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art, the holy one of God.
25 Jésus alors le menaça: «Tais-toi! sors de cet homme!»
And Jesus rebuked him, saying, Hold thy peace and come out of him.
26 Agitant violemment le possédé, l'Esprit impur sortit de lui en poussant un grand cri.
And the unclean spirit, having torn him, and uttered a cry with a loud voice, came out of him.
27 Tous les assistants, terrifiés, s'interrogeaient les uns les autres: «Qu'est-ce que ceci? Voilà un enseignement nouveau! il commande avec autorité même aux Esprits impurs, et ils lui obéissent.»
And all were amazed, so that they questioned together among themselves, saying, What is this? what new doctrine is this? for with authority he commands even the unclean spirits, and they obey him.
28 Sa renommée se répandit promptement et partout aux environs, dans la Galilée entière.
And his fame went out straightway into the whole region of Galilee around.
29 En sortant de la synagogue, ils se rendirent tout d'abord, accompagnés de Jacques et de Jean, dans la maison de Simon et d’André.
And straightway going out of the synagogue, they came with James and John into the house of Simon and Andrew.
30 La belle-mère de Simon était couchée; elle avait la fièvre. On s'empressa de le dire à Jésus.
And the mother-in-law of Simon lay in a fever. And straightway they speak to him about her.
31 Alors, s'approchant d'elle, il la prit par la main et la fit lever. La fièvre disparut et elle se mit à les servir.
And he went up to [her] and raised her up, having taken her by the hand, and straightway the fever left her, and she served them.
32 Le soir venu, après le coucher du soleil, on lui apporta tous les malades et les démoniaques.
But evening being come, when the sun had gone down, they brought to him all that were suffering, and those possessed by demons;
33 La ville entière se pressait à la porte.
and the whole city was gathered together at the door.
34 Il guérit plusieurs malades atteints de maux divers; il chassa aussi beaucoup de démons et il défendait aux démons de parler, parce qu'ils savaient qui il était.
And he healed many suffering from various diseases; and he cast out many demons, and did not suffer the demons to speak because they knew him.
35 S'étant levé de grand matin, avant le jour, il alla dans un lieu solitaire et là il priait.
And rising in the morning long before day, he went out and went away into a desert place, and there prayed.
36 Simon et ceux qui étaient avec lui se mirent à sa recherche.
And Simon and those with him went after him:
37 Quand ils l'eurent trouvé, ils lui dirent: «Tout le monde te cherche.»
and having found him, they say to him, All seek thee.
38 Il leur répondit: «Allons dans les villages voisins, afin que j'y prêche aussi, car c'est pour cela que je suis sorti.»
And he says to them, Let us go elsewhere into the neighbouring country towns, that I may preach there also, for for this purpose am I come forth.
39 Il alla donc prêcher dans leurs synagogues et dans toute la Galilée, en chassant les démons.
And he was preaching in their synagogues in the whole of Galilee, and casting out demons.
40 Un lépreux vint à lui et, se jetant à ses genoux, lui adressa cette prière: «Si tu le veux, tu peux me guérir!»
And there comes to him a leper, beseeching him, and falling on his knees to him, and saying to him, If thou wilt thou canst cleanse me.
41 Il en eut compassion; il étendit la main et le toucha en disant: «Je le veux, sois guéri.»
But Jesus, moved with compassion, having stretched out his hand, touched him, and says to him, I will, be thou cleansed.
42 La lèpre disparut à l'instant; cet homme fut guéri.
And as he spoke straightway the leprosy left him, and he was cleansed.
43 Jésus le congédia immédiatement, en lui donnant cet avertissement sévère:
And having sharply charged him, he straightway sent him away,
44 «Garde-toi de parler de ceci à personne; mais va te montrer au prêtre et offre pour ta guérison ce que Moïse a prescrit; que ce leur soit un témoignage.»
and says to him, See thou say nothing to any one, but go, shew thyself to the priest, and offer for thy cleansing what Moses ordained, for a testimony to them.
45 Mais, à peine parti, le lépreux se mit à répandre la nouvelle et à la proclamer; de sorte que Jésus ne pouvait plus même paraître publiquement dans une ville; mais il se tenait dehors dans des endroits déserts, et on venait à lui de toutes parts.
But he, having gone forth, began to proclaim [it] much, and to spread the matter abroad, so that he could no longer enter openly into the city, but was without in desert places, and they came to him from every side.
