Luc 8
1 Ensuite, il alla de ville en ville et de village en village prêchant, et annonçant l'Évangile du Royaume de Dieu.
And it came to pass afterward, that he went throughout every city and village, preaching and showing the glad tidings of the kingdom of God: and the twelve [were] with him,
2 Avec lui étaient les douze et quelques femmes qui avaient été délivrées de mauvais Esprits, ou guéries de maladies: Marie, celle qu'on appelle Magdelaine, de laquelle étaient sortis sept démons;
And certain women, who had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities, Mary called Magdalene, out of whom went seven demons.
3 Jeanne, femme de Chouza, intendant d'Hérode; Suzanne, et beaucoup d'autres qui l'assistaient de leurs biens.
And Joanna the wife of Chuza Herod's steward, and Susanna, and many others, who ministered to him of their substance.
4 Comme il s'assemblait une foule énorme et que de toutes les villes on venait à lui, il dit cette parabole:
And when many people were collected, and had come to him out of every city, he spoke by a parable:
5 «Le semeur est sorti pour semer sa semence; il jette sa semence, et des grains sont tombés le long du chemin; on les a foulés aux pieds; et les oiseaux du ciel les ont mangés.»
A sower went out to sow his seed: and as he sowed, some fell by the way side; and it was trodden down, and the fowls of the air devoured it.
6 «D'autres sont tombés sur des pierres; ils ont levé, puis séché; ils n'avaient pas d'humidité.»
And some fell upon a rock; and as soon as it was sprung up, it withered, because it lacked moisture.
7 «D'autres grains sont tombés au milieu des épines, et en même temps ont crû les épines; et elles les ont étouffés.»
And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprang up with it, and choked it.
8 «D'autres sont tombés dans la bonne terre; ils ont levé; ils ont porté du fruit au centuple.» Cela disant, il s'écriait: «Que celui qui a des oreilles pour entendre, entende!»
And other fell on good ground, and sprang up, and bore fruit a hundred-fold. And when he had said these things, he cried, He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.
9 Ses disciples lui demandèrent ce que signifiait cette parabole.
And his disciples asked him, saying, What doth this parable mean?
10 Il répondit: «A vous il est donné de pénétrer les mystères du Royaume de Dieu, mais les autres ne les connaissent que par des paraboles, afin qu'ils voient sans voir et entendent sans comprendre.»
And he said, To you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God: but to others in parables; that seeing they may not see, and hearing they may not understand.
11 «Voici le sens de cette parabole: «La semence, c'est la parole de Dieu.
Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God.
12 Le long du chemin sont ceux qui ont écouté; mais ensuite vient le diable, qui enlève de leurs coeurs la parole, de peur qu'ils ne croient et ne soient sauvés.
Those by the way side, are they that hear; then cometh the devil, and taketh away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved.
13 Sur des pierres sont ceux qui, après avoir écouté la parole, l'ont accueillie avec joie; mais ils n'ont pas de racine; ils ont la foi momentanément et, au moment de l'épreuve, ils se retirent.»
They on the rock [are they], who, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, who for a while believe, and in time of temptation fall away.
14 «La semence tombée parmi les épines représente ceux qui ont écouté la parole, et puis ils sont partis, et chez eux elle demeure stérile, étouffée par les soucis, par les richesses et par les plaisirs de la vie.»
And that which fell among thorns are they, who, when they have heard, go forth, and are choked with cares and riches and pleasures of [this] life, and bring no fruit to perfection.
15 «La semence tombée dans la bonne terre représente ceux qui retiennent dans un coeur excellent et bon la parole par eux entendue, et portent du fruit avec persévérance.»
But that on the good ground are they, who in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep [it], and bring forth fruit with patience.
16 «Personne, quand il allume une lampe, ne la recouvre d'un vase ou ne la pose sous un lit; on la place au contraire sur un pied-de-lampe, afin que ceux qui entrent voient la lumière.
No man, when he hath lighted a candle, covereth it with a vessel, or putteth [it] under a bed; but setteth [it] on a candlestick, that they who enter in may see the light.
17 Car rien n'est caché qui ne doive être découvert, rien n'est secret qui ne doive être connu et mis au jour.
For nothing is secret, that shall not be made manifest; neither [any thing] hid, that shall not be known, and come abroad.
18 Prenez donc garde comment vous écoutez. Car à celui qui aura, il sera donné, et à celui qui n'aura pas, même ce qu'il croit avoir lui sera ôté.»
Take heed therefore how ye hear: for whoever hath, to him shall be given; and whoever hath not, from him shall be taken even that which he seemeth to have.
19 Sa mère et ses frères, étant venus le trouver, ne pouvaient, à cause de la foule, pénétrer jusqu'à lui.
Then came to him [his] mother and his brethren, and could not come near to him for the crowd.
20 On l'en prévint: «Ta mère et tes frères sont là dehors, qui voudraient te voir.»
And it was told to him [by certain], who said, Thy mother and thy brethren stand without, desiring to see thee.
21 Il répondit, par ces paroles: «Ma mère et mes frères, ce sont ceux-là, qui écoutent la parole de Dieu et qui la mettent en pratique.»
And he answered and said to them, My mother and my brethren are these who hear the word of God, and do it.
22 Il monta, un jour, dans une barque avec ses disciples. «Faisons la traversée du lac», leur dit-il. Ils partirent.
Now it came to pass on a certain day, that he went into a boat with his disciples: and he said to them, Let us go over to the other side of the lake. And they lanched forth.
23 Tandis qu'ils naviguaient, Jésus s'endormit; et un tourbillon de vent s'abattit sur le lac; la barque s'emplissait d'eau; ils étaient en danger.
But as they sailed, he fell asleep: and there came down a storm of wind on the lake; and they were filled [with water], and were in jeopardy.
24 Les disciples allèrent à lui, le réveillèrent, lui disant: «Maître, maître, nous périssons!» Il se leva, se mit à menacer le vent et les flots soulevés. Ils s'arrêtèrent; il se fit un calme.
And they came to him, and awoke him, saying, Master, master, we perish. Then he arose, and rebuked the wind, and the raging of the water: and they ceased, and there was a calm.
25 Il leur dit alors: «Où est votre foi?» Terrifiés, ils l'admiraient et se disaient l'un à l'autre: «Qui donc est cet homme qui commande aux vents et aux flots, et à qui ils obéissent?»
And he said to them, Where is your faith? And they being afraid, wondered, saying one to another, What manner of man is this! for he commandeth even the winds and water, and they obey him.
26 Ils abordèrent au pays des Géraséniens, situé en face de la Galilée.
And they arrived at the country of the Gadarenes, which is over against Galilee.
27 Comme Jésus descendait à terre, vint à sa rencontre un homme de la ville, possédé par des démons. Il était depuis fort longtemps sans vêtements; il vivait en dehors de tout domicile; et demeurait dans les sépulcres.
And when he went forth to land, there met him out of the city a certain man, who had demons a long time, and wore no clothes, neither abode in [any] house, but in the tombs.
28 Apercevant Jésus, il tomba à ses pieds en jetant des cris, et dit de toutes ses forces: «Qu'y a-t-il entre moi et toi, Jésus, Fils du Dieu Très-Haut? Je t'en conjure, ne me torture point.»
When he saw Jesus, he cried out, and fell down before him, and with a loud voice said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, [thou] Son of God most high? I beseech thee torment me not.
29 En effet, Jésus commandait à l'Esprit impur de sortir de cet homme dont depuis très longtemps il s'était emparé. On l'attachait avec des chaînes, on lui mettait des fers aux pieds pour le retenir; il rompait tous les liens et le démon le poussait vers les lieux déserts. Jésus l'interrogea.
(For he had commanded the unclean spirit to come out of the man. For often it had caught him, and he was kept bound with chains, and in fetters: and he broke the bands, and was driven by the demon into the wilderness.)
30 «Quel est ton nom?» lui dit-il. — Il répondit: «Légion.» Une quantité de démons étaient, en effet, entrés dans cet homme.
And Jesus asked him, saying, What is thy name? And he said, Legion: because many demons had entered into him.
And they besought him, that he would not command them to go out into the deep. (Abyssos g12)
32 mais de leur permettre d'entrer dans un nombreux troupeau de pourceaux qui étaient là, paissant sur la montagne. Il le leur permit.
And there was there a herd of many swine feeding on the mountain: and they besought him that he would suffer them to enter into them. And he suffered them.
33 Les démons sortirent alors de l'homme et entrèrent dans les pourceaux et, d'une course impétueuse, le troupeau se précipita dans le lac et s'y noya.
Then the demons went out of the man, and entered into the swine: and the herd ran violently down a steep place into the lake, and were choked.
34 Voyant ce qui était arrivé, les gardeurs prirent la fuite et allèrent répandre la nouvelle dans la ville et dans les campagnes.
When they that fed [them] saw what was done, they fled, and went and told [it] in the city and in the country.
35 Les habitants sortirent pour voir ce qui s'était passé. Ils s'approchèrent de Jésus; ils trouvèrent assis à ses pieds, avec ses vêtements, et plein de bon sens, l'homme de qui les démons étaient sortis. Cela leur fit peur.
Then they went out to see what was done; and came to Jesus, and found the man out of whom the demons had departed, sitting at the feet of Jesus, clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid.
36 Les témoins oculaires leur racontèrent comment le démoniaque avait été guéri.
They also who saw [it], told them by what means he that was possessed by the demons was healed.
37 Tout ce peuple du pays des Géraséniens pria alors Jésus de s'éloigner d'eux. En effet, ils étaient frappés de terreur. Il remonta donc dans la barque et s'en retourna.
Then the whole multitude of the surrounding country of the Gadarenes, besought him to depart from them: for they were taken with great fear. And he went into the boat, and returned.
38 L'homme qui avait été délivré des démons lui demandait la permission de rester avec lui. Mais Jésus le congédia et lui dit:
Now the man out of whom the demons had departed, besought him that he might be with him. But Jesus sent him away, saying,
39 «Retourne en ta maison, et raconte tout ce que Dieu t'a fait.» Cet homme partit, publiant par toute la ville ce que lui avait fait Jésus.
Return to thy own house, and show how great things God hath done to thee. And he went away and published throughout the whole city, how great things Jesus had done to him.
40 A son retour, Jésus fut reçu par la foule; tous étaient à l’attendre.
And it came to pass, that, when Jesus had returned, the people [gladly] received him: for they were all waiting for him.
41 A ce moment un homme nommé Jaïrus, qui était chef de la synagogue, vint se jeter à ses pieds, le suppliant d'entrer dans sa maison,
And behold, there came a man named Jairus, and he was a ruler of the synagogue: and he fell down at the feet of Jesus, and besought him that he would come into his house:
42 parce que sa fille unique, âgée de douze ans environ, se mourait.
For he had one daughter only, about twelve years of age, and she lay dying. (But as he was going, the people thronged him.
43 Il y allait pressé par la foule, lorsqu'une femme, malade d'une perte de sang depuis douze années, qui avait dépensé en médecins tout son avoir, sans qu'aucun d'eux eût pu la guérir,
And a woman having an issue of blood twelve years, who had spent all her living upon physicians, neither could be healed by any,
44 s'approcha par derrière et toucha la frange de son vêtement. Sa perte de sang s'arrêta immédiatement.
Came behind [him], and touched the border of his garment: and immediately her issue of blood stanched.
45 Jésus demanda: «Qui est-ce qui m'a touché?» Tous s'en défendirent. «C'est la foule, maître, qui te presse, qui t'accable», lui dirent Pierre et ceux qui étaient avec luit.
And Jesus said, Who touched me? When all denied, Peter, and they that were with him, said, Master, the multitude throng thee, and press [thee], and sayest thou, Who touched me?
46 Jésus reprit: «Quelqu'un m'a touché, car j'ai senti qu'une vertu sortait de moi.»
And Jesus said, Somebody hath touched me: for I perceive that virtue hath gone out of me.
47 Se voyant découverte, la femme, toute tremblante, vint se jeter à ses pieds et déclara devant tout le monde pourquoi elle l'avait touché, et comment elle avait été immédiatement guérie.
And when the woman saw that she was not hid, she came trembling, and falling down before him, she declared to him before all the people for what cause she had touched him, and how she was healed immediately.
48 Et lui, il lui dit: «Ma fille, ta foi t'a guérie; va en paix.»
And he said to her, Daughter, be of good comfort: thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace.
49 Comme il parlait encore, arriva quelqu'un de chez le chef de la synagogue disant: «Ta fille est morte, ne fatigue pas davantage le maître.»
While he was yet speaking, there cometh one from the house of the ruler of the synagogue, saying to him, Thy daughter is dead: trouble not the Master.
50 Jésus, entendant ces paroles, dit à Jaïrus: «Ne crains point, crois seulement, et elle sera sauvée.»
But when Jesus heard [it], he answered him, saying, Fear not: believe only, and she shall be healed.
51 Arrivé à la maison, il ne permit à personne d'entrer avec lui, sinon à Pierre, à Jean et à Jacques, ainsi qu'au père et à la mère de l'enfant.
And when he came into the house, he suffered no man to go in, save Peter, and James, and John, and the father and the mother of the maiden.
52 Tous ceux qui étaient là pleuraient à haute voix et se lamentaient sur elle. Il leur dit: «Ne pleurez pas, elle n'est pas morte, mais elle dort.»
And all wept and bewailed her: but he said, Weep not: she is not dead, but sleepeth.
53 Et on se moquait de lui; on savait bien qu'elle était morte.
And they derided him, knowing that she was dead.
54 Jésus, alors, lui saisit la main et prononça ces paroles: «Mon enfant, réveille-toi!» Et son esprit revint.
And he put them all out, and took her by the hand, and called, saying, Maid, arise.
55 Elle se leva aussitôt, et Jésus commanda de lui donner à manger.
And her spirit came again, and she arose immediately: and he commanded to give her food.
56 Ses parents étaient transportés; mais il leur ordonna de ne dire à personne ce qui était arrivé.
And her parents were astonished: but he charged them that they should tell no man what was done.
