1 «Que votre coeur ne se trouble point; ayez foi en Dieu, ayez, aussi foi en moi;
Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.
2 il y a plusieurs demeures dans la maison de mon Père, sinon je vous l'aurais dit; je vais vous préparer une place;
In my Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you.
3 et quand je m'en serai allé et vous aurai préparé une place, je reviendrai et vous prendrai avec moi, afin que là où je suis, vous y soyez aussi.
And if I go and prepare a place for you, I come again, and will receive you unto myself; that where I am, [there] ye may be also.
4 Et vous savez le chemin de l'endroit où je vais.»
And whither I go, ye know the way.
5 Thomas lui dit: «Seigneur, nous ne savons où tu vas, comment saurions-nous le chemin?»
Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; how know we the way?
6 Jésus lui dit: «Je suis, moi, le chemin, la vérité et la vie. Personne ne vient au Père que par moi.
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, and the truth, and the life: no one cometh unto the Father, but by me.
7 Si vous m'avez connu, vous connaîtrez aussi mon Père et dès à présent vous le connaissez et vous l'avez vu.»
If ye had known me, ye would have known my Father also: from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.
8 Philippe lui dit: «Seigneur, montre-nous le Père, cela nous suffit.»
Philip saith unto him, Lord, shew us the Father, and it sufficeth us.
9 Jésus lui dit: «Il y a si longtemps que je suis avec vous et tu ne m'as pas connu, Philippe! Qui m'a vu a vu le Père. Comment peux-tu dire: Montre-nous le Père?
Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and dost thou not know me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; how sayest thou, Shew us the Father?
10 Ne crois-tu pas que je suis, moi, dans le Père, et que le Père est en moi. Les paroles que je vous dis, ce n'est pas de moi-même que je les prononce. C'est le Père, demeurant en moi, qui fait ces oeuvres.
Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I say unto you I speak not from myself: but the Father abiding in me doeth his works.
11 Croyez-moi, croyez parce que je suis, moi, dans le Père et que le Père est en moi; sinon, croyez à cause de ces oeuvres.»
Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works’ sake.
12 «En vérité, en vérité, je vous le dis, les oeuvres que je fais, qui croit en moi les fera, lui aussi, et en fera de plus grandes, parce que je m'en vais auprès du Père
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater [works] than these shall he do; because I go unto the Father.
13 et que tout ce que vous demanderez en mon nom, je le ferai, afin que le Père soit glorifié dans le Fils.
And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
14 Si vous me demandez quelque chose en mon nom, moi, je le ferai.
If ye shall ask me anything in my name, that will I do.
15 Si vous m'aimez, gardez mes commandements;
If ye love me, ye will keep my commandments.
16 et moi, je prierai le Père et il vous donnera un autre Conseiller, afin qu'il soit pour toujours avec vous, (aiōn g165)
And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may be with you for ever, (aiōn g165)
17 l'Esprit de vérité, que le monde ne peut recevoir parce qu'il ne le voit ni ne le connaît; mais vous, vous le connaissez parce qu'il demeure avec vous, et il sera en vous.
[even] the Spirit of truth: whom the world cannot receive; for it beholdeth him not, neither knoweth him: ye know him; for he abideth with you, and shall be in you.
18 Je ne vous laisserai pas orphelins; je reviens à vous.
I will not leave you desolate: I come unto you.
19 Encore un peu de temps, et le monde ne me verra plus; mais vous, vous me verrez, car je vis, moi, et vous aussi, vous vivrez.
Yet a little while, and the world beholdeth me no more; but ye behold me: because I live, ye shall live also.
20 En ce jour-là, vous reconnaîtrez que je suis en mon Père, que vous êtes en moi, et que je suis en vous.
In that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you.
21 Qui retient mes commandements et les garde, celui-là est celui qui m'aime. Et celui qui m'aime sera aimé de mon Père, et moi je l'aimerai et je me manifesterai à lui.»
He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself unto him.
22 Judas (qu'il ne faut pas confondre avec l'Iskariôte) lui dit: «Seigneur, qu'est-il arrivé pour que tu veuilles te manifester à nous et non pas au monde?»
Judas (not Iscariot) saith unto him, Lord, what is come to pass that thou wilt manifest thyself unto us, and not unto the world?
23 Jésus lui répondit par ces paroles: Si quelqu'un m'aime, il gardera ma parole et mon Père l'aimera et nous viendrons à lui et nous ferons chez lui notre demeure.
Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my word: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.
24 Celui qui ne m'aime pas ne garde pas mes paroles; et la parole que vous entendez n'est pas mienne, mais de Celui qui m'a envoyé, du Père.»
He that loveth me not keepeth not my words: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father’s who sent me.
25 «Je vous ai parlé de ces choses pendant que je demeurais avec vous;
These things have I spoken unto you, while [yet] abiding with you.
26 mais le Conseiller, l’Esprit saint que le Père enverra en mon nom, vous enseignera toutes choses et vous rappellera tout ce que je vous ai dit.»
But the Comforter, [even] the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said unto you.
27 «Je vous laisse la paix, je vous donne ma paix; ce n'est pas comme le monde la donne, que, moi, je vous la donne; que votre coeur ne se trouble pas, qu'il ne faiblisse pas.»
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be fearful.
28 «Vous avez entendu que je vous ai dit: «Je m'en vais et je reviens à vous. Si vous m'aimiez, vous vous réjouiriez de ce que je vais auprès du Père, parce que le Père est plus grand que moi.
Ye heard how I said to you, I go away, and I come unto you. If ye loved me, ye would have rejoiced, because I go unto the Father: for the Father is greater than I.
29 Et je vous ai parlé maintenant, avant l'événement, afin que vous croyiez lorsqu'il arrivera.
And now I have told you before it come to pass, that, when it is come to pass, ye may believe.
30 Je ne vous parlerai plus guère, car le Prince du monde vient, et en moi il n'a rien;
I will no more speak much with you, for the prince of the world cometh: and he hath nothing in me;
31 mais il vient afin que le monde sache que j'aime le Père et que j'agis suivant les ordres du Père. Levez-vous, sortons d'ici.»
but that the world may know that I love the Father, and as the Father gave me commandment, even so I do. Arise, let us go hence.
