Hébreux 6
1 Laissons donc les commencements de ce qu'il y a à dire sur le Christ, mettons-nous à ce qu'il y a de plus achevé, ne recommençons pas à poser les principes fondamentaux: renoncement aux oeuvres mortes, foi en Dieu,
Therefore having left the word of the beginning of Christ, let us be carried to perfection; not again laying the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God,
2 doctrine des baptêmes, imposition des mains, résurrection des morts, jugement éternel. (aiōnios g166)
of the teaching of baptisms, and of the laying on of hands, and of the resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment. (aiōnios g166)
3 Tout cela nous le ferons, si Dieu le permet.
And we will do this, if God may permit.
4 Car il est impossible que ceux qui ont été une fois éclairés, qui ont goûté le don céleste, qui ont eu part à l'Esprit saint,
For it is impossible that those having been once enlightened, and tasted the heavenly gift, and have been made partakers of the Holy Ghost,
and having tasted the beautiful word of God, and the dynamites of the coming age, (aiōn g165)
6 et qui retombent, soient ramenés à la repentance par une seconde régénération, eux qui, pour leur propre compte, remettent en croix le Fils de Dieu et le vouent aux outrages!
indeed having fallen away, to renew them again unto repentance; having crucified to themselves again the Son of God, and put him to an open shame.
7 En effet, une terre, arrosée par des pluies fréquentes et produisant des plantes utiles à ceux pour lesquels elle est cultivée, a part à la bénédiction de Dieu.
For the earth drinking the rain coming often upon her, and bringing forth the herb nutritious to those by whom it is also cultivated, receives blessings from God:
8 Mais si elle ne rapporte que des épines et des chardons», on l'abandonne, on la déclare presque maudite, on finit par y mettre le feu.
but that which produces thorns and thistles, is reprobate, and nigh unto the curse; whose end is unto burning.
9 Cependant, bien-aimés, malgré ce langage, nous croyons pour vous à tout ce qu'il y a de mieux, à ce qui mène au salut.
But, beloved, we are persuaded better things concerning you, and things appertaining to salvation, if indeed we do thus speak.
10 Dieu est trop juste pour oublier votre activité, l'amour que vous avez montré pour son nom, les services passés et présents rendus par vous aux fidèles.
For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and the divine love which you manifested in his name, having ministered to the saints, and ministering.
11 Nous désirons bien que chacun de vous montre jusqu'au bout le même zèle à affermir de plus en plus son espérance
But we desire each one of you to exhibit the same diligence unto the full assurance of hope unto the end:
12 de manière à ne pas vous relâcher, mais à imiter ceux que leur foi et leur persévérance ont mis en possession de l'héritage promis.
in order that you may not be dull, but imitators of those who through faith and longsufferings do inherit the promises.
13 Quand Dieu fit sa promesse à Abraham (comme il ne pouvait prêter serment au nom d'un plus grand que lui, «il prêta serment sur son propre nom»),
For God having promised Abraham, since he had no greater one by whom to swear, swore by himself,
14 il dit: «Certes je te comblerai de bénédictions; certes je multiplierai beaucoup tes descendants».
saying, If indeed blessing I will bless thee, and multiplying I will multiply thee:
15 Et alors, sa persévérance lui obtint ce qui lui avait été promis.
and thus having waited long, he received the promise.
16 Les hommes, en effet, prêtent serment sur un plus grand qu'eux, et leur serment est une garantie, il met fin à toutes leurs discussions.
For men swear by the greater: and an oath of confirmation is to them an end to all controversy:
17 Eh bien, Dieu, voulant expressément montrer à ceux qui devaient recevoir l'héritage promis que sa volonté est immuable, intervint par un serment,
but God, in this wishing more abundantly to show forth to the heirs of the promise the immutability of his counsel, confirmed it by an oath:
18 et il l'a fait pour que, par deux choses immuables, par lesquelles il était impossible que Dieu mentît, nous ayons un puissant encouragement qui soit notre refuge, nous saisissions l'espérance qui s'offre à nous.
that through two immutable things in which it was impossible that God should lie, we who have fled may have a strong consolation to lay hold of the hope set before us,
19 Oui, cette espérance nous la tenons comme l'ancre de notre âme, ferme et solide, «elle pénètre dans le sanctuaire, derrière le voile»,
which we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast and entering into that which is in the veil,
