Actes 13
1 Il y avait alors à Antioche, dans l'église de cette ville, comme prophètes et docteurs, Barnabas, Syméon dit Niger, Lucius de Cyrène, Menahem, frère de lait du tétrarque Hérode, et Saul.
Now in the church that was at Antioch there were some prophets and teachers: Bar-Naba, Shimon who was called Niger, Luqius of Qurini, Manayeil the foster brother of Herod the tetrarch, and Shaul.
2 Un jour qu'ils célébraient le culte du Seigneur et qu'ils jeûnaient l'Esprit saint leur dit: «Mettez-moi à part Barnabas et Saul pour l'oeuvre à laquelle je les ai appelés.»
As they served the Lord and fasted, the Rukha d'Qudsha said, "Separate Bar-Naba and Shaul for me, for the work to which I have called them."
3 Alors, après avoir jeûné et prié, ils leur imposèrent les mains et les laissèrent partir.
Then, when they had fasted and prayed and laid their hands on them, they sent them away.
4 Paul et Barnabas, ainsi envoyés par le saint Esprit, descendirent à Séleucie, où ils s'embarquèrent pour l'île de Chypre.
So, being sent out by the Rukha d'Qudsha, they went down to Seleucia. From there they sailed to Cyprus.
5 Arrivés à Salamis, ils annoncèrent la parole de Dieu dans les synagogues des Juifs. Ils avaient Jean pour les aider.
When they were at Salamis, they proclaimed the word of God in the Jewish synagogues. They had also Yukhanan as their attendant.
6 Ayant traversé toute l’île jusqu'à Paphos, ils rencontrèrent un certain personnage, un Juif, magicien et faux prophète dont le nom était Bar-Jésus.
When they had gone through the whole island as far as Paphos, they found a certain man, a magician, a Jewish false prophet whose name was Bar-Yeshua,
7 Il était auprès du proconsul Sergius Paulus qui, lui, était un homme sensé. Celui-ci fit appeler Barnabas et Saul et demanda à entendre la parole de Dieu.
who was with the proconsul, Sergius Paulus, a man of understanding. This man summoned Bar-Naba and Shaul, and sought to hear the word of God.
8 Mais le magicien Elymas (c'est ainsi que se traduit son nom), leur fit opposition et chercha à détourner le proconsul de la foi.
But Elymas the sorcerer (for so is his name by interpretation) withstood them, seeking to turn aside the proconsul from the faith.
9 Alors Saul, nommé aussi Paul, plein d'Esprit saint, le regarda en face et lui dit:
But Shaul, who is also called Paul, filled with the Rukha d'Qudsha, fastened his eyes on him,
10 «Être tout rempli d'astuce et de fraude, fils du diable, ennemi de toute justice, ne cesseras-tu pas de pervertir les droites voies du Seigneur?
and said, "Full of all deceit and all fraud, you son of the devil, you enemy of all righteousness, will you not cease to pervert the right ways of the Lord?
11 La main du Seigneur va maintenant te frapper; tu seras aveugle; pendant quelque temps tu ne verras pas le soleil.» Immédiatement il se trouva enveloppé d'épaisses ténèbres et, marchant çà et là, il cherchait quelqu'un pour le conduire.
Now, look, the hand of the Lord is on you, and you will be blind, unable to see the sun for a time." Immediately a mist and darkness fell on him. He went around seeking someone to lead him by the hand.
12 Alors le proconsul, voyant ce qui était arrivé, devint croyant; il était très frappé de la doctrine du Seigneur.
Then the proconsul, when he saw what was done, believed, being astonished at the teaching of the Lord.
13 Embarqués à Paphos, Paul et ses compagnons arrivèrent à Perge en Pamphylie;
Now Paul and his company set sail from Paphos, and came to Perga in Pamphylia, and Yukhanan departed from them and returned to Urishlim.
14 là, Jean se sépara d'eux et revint à Jérusalem. Mais eux traversèrent le pays depuis Perge et arrivèrent à Antioche de Pisidie. Ils se rendirent à la synagogue le jour du sabbat et y prirent place.
But they, passing on from Perga, came to Antioch of Pisidia. They went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and sat down.
15 Après la lecture de «la Loi» et des «Prophètes», les présidents envoyèrent leur dire: «Frères, si vous avez quelques paroles d'exhortation à adresser au peuple, parlez!»
After the reading of the Law and the Prophets, the rulers of the synagogue sent to them, saying, "Brothers, if you have any word of exhortation for the people, speak."
16 Alors Paul se leva, fit un signe de la main et dit: «Hommes d'Israël, et vous qui craignez Dieu! Écoutez:
Paul stood up, and beckoning with his hand said, "Men of Israyel, and you who fear God, listen.
17 «Le Dieu de notre nation a élu nos pères, il a relevé le peuple pendant son séjour à l'étranger en Égypte; il l'en a fait sortir à bras levé;
The God of this people Israyel chose our fathers, and exalted the people when they stayed as foreigners in the land of Egypt, and with an uplifted arm, he led them out of it.
18 pendant environ quarante ans, il s'est accommodé à eux dans le désert,
For a period of about forty years he put up with them in the wilderness.
19 il a anéanti sept peuples dans le pays de Chanaan, et a mis leur territoire en sa possession.»
When he had destroyed seven nations in the land of Canaan, he gave them their land as an inheritance.
20 «Ensuite, pendant quatre cent cinquante ans environ, il leur a donné des Juges jusqu'au prophète Samuel.»
All this took about four hundred and fifty years. And after these things he gave them judges, until Shemuyel the prophet.
21 «C'est alors qu'ils ont demandé un roi et Dieu leur a donné pour quarante ans Saül, fils de Kis, de la tribu de Benjamin.
Afterward they asked for a king, and God gave to them Shaul the son of Kish, a man of the tribe of Benyamin, for forty years.
22 L'ayant détrôné, il a élevé à la royauté David, dont il a fait l'éloge en disant: «J'ai trouvé David, fils de Jessé, il est selon mon coeur, et il fera toutes mes volontés.»
When he had removed him, he raised up Dawid to be their king, to whom he also testified, 'I have found Dawid the son of Ishai, a man after my heart, who will do all my will.'
23 «C'est de sa famille que Dieu, comme il l'avait promis, a fait sortir Jésus, un Sauveur pour Israël.
From this man's offspring, according to his promise, God has brought to Israyel a Savior, Yeshua,
24 Jean avait prêché d'avance, avant sa venue, un baptême de repentance à tout le peuple d'Israël.
before his coming, when Yukhanan had first preached the baptism of repentance to all the people of Israyel.
25 Jean disait pendant qu'il remplissait sa carrière: «Je ne suis pas, moi, celui pour lequel vous me prenez. Mais, voici, il vient après moi celui dont je ne suis pas digne de détacher les sandales.»
As Yukhanan was fulfilling his course, he said, 'What do you suppose that I am? I am not he. But look, one comes after me the sandals of whose feet I am not worthy to untie.'
26 «Mes frères, vous qui descendez de la famille d'Abraham, et vous qui êtes ici et qui craignez Dieu, c'est à nous qu'un message de salut a été adressé.
Brothers, children of the stock of Avraham, and those among you who fear God, the word of this salvation is sent out to us.
27 Car les habitants de Jérusalem et leurs magistrats, ayant méconnu ce Jésus, ont accompli par là même, en le jugeant, les paroles des prophètes lues chaque sabbat;
For those who dwell in Urishlim, and their rulers, because they did not know him, nor the voices of the prophets which are read every Sabbath, fulfilled them by condemning him.
28 ils ne trouvaient aucun motif de le faire mourir, et ils ont demandé à Pilate de le mettre à mort.
Though they found no cause for death, they still asked Pilate to have him killed.
29 Quand ils eurent accompli tout ce qui avait été écrit sur lui, ils le descendirent de la croix et le mirent dans un tombeau.»
When they had fulfilled all things that were written about him, they took him down from the tree, and placed him in a tomb.
30 «Mais Dieu l'a ressuscité d'entre les morts.
But God raised him from the dead,
31 Il est apparu pendant plusieurs jours à ceux qui étaient montés avec lui de la Galilée à Jérusalem et qui sont maintenant ses témoins auprès du peuple.
and he was seen for many days by those who came up with him from Galila to Urishlim, who are his witnesses to the people.
32 Voici donc la Bonne Nouvelle que nous vous annonçons: La promesse faite à nos pères,
We bring you good news of the promise made to the fathers,
33 Dieu l'a tenue pour nous, leurs enfants, en ressuscitant Jésus. Voilà pourquoi il est écrit dans le Psaume second: «Tu es mon fils Et moi, je t'ai engendré aujourd'hui.»
that God has fulfilled for us, their children, in that he raised up Yeshua. As it is also written in the second psalm, 'You are my Son. Today I have become your Father.'
34 «Et sur sa résurrection d'entre les morts, sur ce fait qu'il ne tombera pas en corruption, voici ce qui est dit: «Je vous donnerai les grâces saintes et certaines promises à David.»
"Concerning that he raised him up from the dead, now no more to return to corruption, he has spoken thus: 'I will give to you the faithful sacred things of Dawid.'
35 Voilà encore pourquoi il est dit ailleurs: «Tu ne permettras point que ton Saint voie la corruption.»
Therefore he says also in another psalm, 'You will not allow your Holy One to see decay.'
36 «Eh bien, David, après avoir servi à son époque aux desseins de Dieu, est mort, a été réuni à ses pères et a vu la corruption.
For Dawid, after he had in his own generation served the counsel of God, fell asleep, and was placed with his fathers, and saw decay.
37 C'est celui que Dieu a ressuscité qui n'a pas vit la corruption.
But he whom God raised up saw no decay.
38 Sachez donc, mes frères, que, par lui, la rémission des péchés vous est annoncée.
Be it known to you therefore, brothers, that through this man is proclaimed to you forgiveness of sins,
39 Tout croyant trouve en lui la justification de tout ce dont la Loi de Moïse n'a pu vous justifier.
and by him everyone who believes is justified from all things, from which you could not be justified by the Law of Mushe.
40 Prenez donc garde qu'il ne vous arrive ce qui est dit dans les prophètes:
So beware, lest what is said in the Prophets should come about:
41 «Regardez, contempteurs, soyez étonnés et disparaissez, Parce que je ferai une oeuvre, de vos jours, Une oeuvre que vous ne croiriez pas si on vous la racontait».
'Look, you scoffers, and be amazed, and perish; for I am working a work in your days, a work which you will not believe, if one tells it to you.'"
42 Lorsqu'ils sortirent, on les pria de recommencer leur prédication le sabbat suivant.
So when they went out they urged them to speak about these things on the next Sabbath.
43 A l'issue de la réunion, une grande foule de Juifs et de prosélytes pieux suivirent Paul et Barnabas qui s'entretinrent avec eux et les exhortèrent à rester attachés à la grâce de Dieu.
Now when the synagogue broke up, many of the Jews and of the devout proselytes followed Paul and Bar-Naba; who, speaking to them, urged them to continue in the grace of God.
44 Le sabbat suivant presque toute la ville se réunit pour entendre la parole du Seigneur.
The next Sabbath almost the whole city was gathered together to hear the word of the Lord.
45 Mais les Juifs, voyant cette foule, furent pleins de jalousie; ils s'opposèrent à tout ce que disait Paul et se mirent à le contredire et à l'injurier.
But when the Jews saw the crowds, they were filled with jealousy, and contradicted the things which were spoken by Paul, and reviled him.
46 Paul et Barnabas leur dirent alors en toute franchise: «Nous devions commencer par vous prêcher la parole de Dieu, mais puisque vous la repoussez et que vous vous jugez vous-mêmes indignes de la vie éternelle, nous allons nous tourner vers les païens, (aiōnios g166)
Paul and Bar-Naba spoke out boldly, and said, "It was necessary that God's word should be spoken to you first. Since indeed you thrust it from you, and judge yourselves unworthy of everlasting life, look, we turn to the non-Jewish people. (aiōnios g166)
47 car voici ce que le Seigneur nous a commandé: «Je t'ai établi pour être la lumière des païens, Pour répandre le salut jusqu'aux extrémités de la terre.»
For so has the Lord commanded us, saying, 'I have set you as a light to the nations, that you may bring salvation to the farthest part of the earth.'"
48 Les païens furent dans la joie de les entendre parler ainsi; ils glorifièrent la parole du Seigneur, et tous ceux qui étaient destinés à la vie éternelle devinrent croyants. (aiōnios g166)
As the non-Jewish people heard this, they were glad, and glorified the word of the Lord. As many as were appointed to everlasting life believed. (aiōnios g166)
49 La parole du Seigneur se répandit dans tout le pays;
The Lord's word was spread abroad throughout all the region.
50 mais les Juifs excitèrent les dames les plus considérables de la ville rattachées au Judaïsme et les principaux habitants; ils provoquèrent une persécution contre Paul et Barnabas, et ils les bannirent de leur territoire.
But the Jews stirred up the devout women of prominence and the leading men of the city, and stirred up a persecution against Paul and Bar-Naba, and threw them out of their borders.
51 Ceux-ci secouèrent sur eux la poussière de leurs pieds et se rendirent à Iconium;
But they shook off the dust of their feet against them, and came to Iconium.
52 quant aux disciples, ils étaient pleins de joie et d'Esprit saint.
The disciples were filled with joy with the Rukha d'Qudsha.
