2 Timothée 4
1 Je te conjure, en présence de Dieu et de Jésus-Christ qui doit, juger les vivants et les morts, et au nom de son avènement et de son Royaume,
I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the living and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom;
2 de prêcher la parole, d'insister à propos et hors de propos, de reprendre, d'exhorter, de censurer, toujours avec patience et toujours en instruisant;
Preach the word; be diligent in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.
3 car il viendra un temps où on ne supportera plus une saine instruction, mais chacun suivra son goût particulier, ou s'entourera en quantité de ces docteurs qui savent chatouiller agréablement les oreilles,
For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap up to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
4 et alors on se détournera de la vérité et on s'attachera à des fables.
And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned to fables.
5 Pour toi, sois sobre de toutes ces choses, apprends à souffrir, remplis tes devoirs d'évangéliste, donne-toi complètement à ton ministère.
But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.
6 Quant à moi, je suis bien près du sacrifice, je touche au moment du départ;
For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand.
7 j'ai combattu le bon combat, j'ai achevé la course, j'ai gardé la foi.
I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:
8 Il ne me reste plus qu'à recevoir la couronne de la justice; le Seigneur, le juste juge, me la donnera au grand jour, et non seulement à moi, mais aussi à tous ceux qui ont désiré son avènement.
Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but to all them also that love his appearing.
9 Tâche de me rejoindre bientôt,
Do thy diligence to come shortly to me:
10 car Démas m'a abandonné par â amour pour le monde; il est allé à Thessalonique, Crescens en Galatie, Tite en Dalmatie. (aiōn g165)
For Demas hath forsaken me, having loved this present world, and hath departed to Thessalonica; Crescens to Galatia, Titus to Dalmatia. (aiōn g165)
11 Luc seul est avec moi. Prends Marc et amène-le avec toi, car il m'est utile dans mon ministère.
Luke only is with me. Take Mark, and bring him with thee: for he is profitable to me for the ministry.
12 Quant à Tychique, je l'ai envoyé à Éphèse.
And Tychicus have I sent to Ephesus.
13 Lorsque tu viendras, apporte-moi le manteau que j'ai laissé à Troas chez Carpus; les livres aussi; surtout les parchemins.
The cloke that I left at Troas with Carpus, when thou comest, bring with thee, and the books, but especially the parchments.
14 Alexandre, le forgeron, m'a témoigné une très grande malveillance; que le Seigneur «Lui rende selon ses oeuvres!»
Alexander the coppersmith did me much evil: the Lord reward him according to his works:
15 Garde-toi aussi de lui; il s'est montré très opposé à mes paroles.
Of whom beware thou also; for he hath greatly withstood our words.
16 Lors de mon premier plaidoyer personne n'est venu à mon aide; ils m'ont tous abandonné (qu'il ne leur en soit pas tenu compte!);
At my first defence no man stood with me, but all men forsook me: I pray God that it may not be laid to their charge.
17 mais le Seigneur m'a soutenu et m'a donné des forces; j'ai pu prêcher d'une manière très complète; les païens m'ont tous entendu, et j'ai été délivré «de la gueule du lion».
However the Lord stood with me, and strengthened me; that by me the preaching might be fully known, and that all the Gentiles might hear: and I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion.
18 Le Seigneur me délivrera de toute fâcheuse affaire et me sauvera dans son céleste Royaume; à lui soit la gloire aux siècles des siècles. Amen. (aiōn g165)
And the Lord shall deliver me from every evil work, and will preserve me to his heavenly kingdom: to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen. (aiōn g165)
19 Salue Prisca, Aquilas et la famille d'Onésiphore.
Greet Prisca and Aquila, and the household of Onesiphorus.
20 Éraste est resté à Corinthe; j'ai laissé Trophime malade à Milet.
Erastus abode at Corinth: but Trophimus I have left at Miletum sick.
21 Tâche de venir avant l'hiver. Eubulus te salue, ainsi que Pudens, Linus, Claudie, et tous les frères.
Do thy diligence to come before winter. Eubulus greeteth thee, and Pudens, and Linus, and Claudia, and all the brethren.
22 Le Seigneur soit avec ton esprit. La grâce soit avec vous.
The Lord Jesus Christ be with thy spirit. Grace be with you. Amen. The second epistle to Timothy, ordained the first bishop of the church of the Ephesians, was written from Rome, when Paul was brought before Nero the second time.
