Psaumes 89
1 Hymne de Ethan Esrahite. Je veux chanter à jamais les grâces de l'Éternel, et d'âge en âge de ma bouche publier Ta fidélité!
Maschil of Ethan the Ezrahite. I will sing of the mercies of the LORD for ever: with my mouth will I make known thy faithfulness to all generations.
2 Car je me dis: La grâce est édifiée pour jamais, le ciel est la base que Tu donnes à ta fidélité.
For I have said, Mercy shall be built up for ever; thy faithfulness shalt thou establish in the very heavens.
3 « J'ai fait une alliance en faveur de mon élu, je l'ai juré à David, mon serviteur:
I have made a covenant with my chosen, I have sworn unto David my servant;
4 J'affermirai ta race à jamais, et je fonderai ton trône pour tous les âges. (Pause)
Thy seed will I establish for ever, and build up thy throne to all generations. (Selah)
5 « Et les Cieux, Éternel, célèbrent tes merveilles, et disent ta fidélité dans l'assemblée des Saints.
And the heavens shall praise thy wonders, O LORD; thy faithfulness also in the assembly of the holy ones.
6 Car, dans les lieux éthérés, qui s'égale à l'Éternel? qui ressemble à l'Éternel, parmi les Fils de Dieu,
For who in the skies can be compared unto the LORD? who among the sons of the mighty is like unto the LORD,
7 à ce Dieu, redouté dans la vaste société des Saints, et plus formidable que tous ceux qui L'entourent?
A God very terrible in the council of the holy ones, and to be feared above all them that are round about him?
8 Éternel, Dieu des armées, qui est comme toi puissant, ô Dieu? Et ta fidélité t'environne.
O LORD God of hosts, who is a mighty one, like unto thee, O JAH? and thy faithfulness is round about thee.
9 Tu domines l'orgueil de la mer; quand ses flots se soulèvent, tu les apaises.
Thou rulest the pride of the sea: when the waves thereof arise, thou stillest them.
10 Tu as écrasé l'Egypte d'un coup mortel, et de ton bras puissant dissipé tes ennemis.
Thou hast broken Rahab in pieces, as one that is slain; thou hast scattered thine enemies with the arm of thy strength.
11 A toi sont les Cieux, et à toi la terre; c'est toi qui as fondé le monde et ce qu'il enserre.
The heavens are thine, the earth also is thine: the world and the fulness thereof, thou hast founded them.
12 Tu as créé l'Aquilon et le Midi; le Thabor et l'Hermon se réjouissent à ton nom.
The north and the south, thou hast created them: Tabor and Hermon rejoice in thy name.
13 Tu as un bras armé de vigueur, ta main est forte, ta droite élevée.
Thou hast a mighty arm: strong is thy hand, and high is thy right hand.
14 La justice et l'équité sont la base de ton trône, la grâce et la vérité marchent devant ta face.
Righteousness and judgment are the foundation of thy throne: mercy and truth go before thy face.
15 Heureux le peuple qui connaît l'appel de la trompette! Éternel, il marche à la clarté de ta face;
Blessed is the people that know the joyful sound: they walk, O LORD, in the light of thy countenance.
16 à ton nom il se réjouit toujours, et il se glorifie de ta justice.
In thy name do they rejoice all the day: and in thy righteousness are they exalted.
17 Car tu es sa glorieuse parure; et par ta faveur tu nous fais porter la tête levée.
For thou art the glory of their strength: and in thy favour our horn shall be exalted.
18 Car c'est de l'Éternel que vient notre bouclier, et du Saint d'Israël que vient notre Roi.
For our shield belongeth unto the LORD; and our king to the Holy One of Israel.
19 Alors tu parlas en vision à ton bien-aimé, et tu dis: « J'ai prêté secours à un héros, et suscité un adolescent du milieu du peuple.
Then thou spakest in vision to thy saints, and saidst, I have laid help upon one that is mighty; I have exalted one chosen out of the people.
20 J'ai trouvé David, mon serviteur, et je l'ai oint de mon huile sainte.
I have found David my servant; with my holy oil have I anointed him:
21 Ma main lui est assurée, et mon bras le soutiendra.
With whom my hand shall be established; mine arm also shall strengthen him.
22 L'ennemi ne le surprendra pas, et le méchant ne l'humiliera point.
The enemy shall not exact upon him; nor the son of wickedness afflict him.
23 Je déferai devant lui ses adversaires, et je battrai ses ennemis.
And I will beat down his adversaries before him, and smite them that hate him.
24 Et ma fidélité et ma grâce seront avec lui, et à mon nom il lèvera la tête;
But my faithfulness and my mercy shall be with him; and in my name shall his horn be exalted.
25 et je mettrai sa main sur la mer, et sa droite sur les fleuves.
I will set his hand also on the sea, and his right hand on the rivers.
26 Il m'invoquera ainsi: « Tu es mon père, mon Dieu, et mon rocher sauveur! » –
He shall cry unto me, Thou art my father, my God, and the rock of my salvation.
27 Bien plus, je l'instituerai mon premier-né, le plus éminent des rois de la terre,
I also will make him [my] firstborn, the highest of the kings of the earth.
28 Je lui garderai ma grâce éternellement, et mon alliance pour lui sera perpétuelle.
My mercy will I keep for him for evermore, and my covenant shall stand fast with him.
29 Je rendrai sa race éternelle, et je donnerai à son trône la durée des Cieux.
His seed also will I make to endure for ever, and his throne as the days of heaven.
30 Si ses fils abandonnent ma loi, et ne se dirigent pas selon mes jugements,
If his children forsake my law, and walk not in my judgments;
31 s'ils violent mes commandements, et n'observent pas mes préceptes;
If they break my statutes, and keep not my commandments;
32 Je punirai de la verge leur désobéissance, et de fléaux, leur crime;
Then will I visit their transgression with the rod, and their iniquity with stripes.
33 mais je ne lui retirerai point ma faveur, et ne démentirai point ma fidélité;
But my mercy will I not utterly take from him, nor suffer my faithfulness to fail.
34 je ne violerai point mon alliance, et ne changerai point la parole émise par mes lèvres.
My covenant will I not break, nor alter the thing that is gone out of my lips.
35 Je l'ai juré une fois par ma sainteté: Jamais envers David je ne serai menteur!
Once have I sworn by my holiness; I will not lie unto David;
36 sa race subsistera éternellement, et son trône, comme le soleil, subsistera devant moi;
His seed shall endure for ever, and his throne as the sun before me.
37 comme la lune, pour jamais il est consolidé; et le témoin qui est dans la nue, est véridique. »
It shall be established for ever as the moon, and [as] the faithful witness in the sky. (Selah)
38 Et Tu nous as rejetés, nous as répudiés, tu t'es irrité contre ton Oint;
But thou hast cast off and rejected, thou hast been wroth with thine anointed.
39 tu as méprisé l'alliance faite avec ton serviteur; tu as souillé, fait tomber son diadème en terre;
Thou hast abhorred the covenant of thy servant: thou hast profaned his crown [even] to the ground.
40 tu as abattu toutes ses murailles, mis ses boulevards en ruines.
Thou hast broken down all his hedges; thou hast brought his strong holds to rain.
41 Tous les passants le pillent, il est l'opprobre de ses voisins.
All that pass by the way spoil him: he is become a reproach to his neighbours.
42 Tu as exalté la droite de ses oppresseurs, réjoui tous ses ennemis;
Thou hast exalted the right hand of his adversaries; thou hast made all his enemies to rejoice.
43 et tu as fait céder le tranchant de son glaive, et tu ne l'as pas soutenu dans le combat.
Yea, thou turnest back the edge his sword, and hast not made him to stand in the battle.
44 Tu as réduit sa splendeur, et précipité son trône sur la terre;
Thou hast made his brightness to cease, and cast his throne down to the ground.
45 tu as abrégé les jours de sa jeunesse, tu l'as couvert d'ignominie. (Pause)
The days of his youth hast thou shortened: thou hast covered him with shame. (Selah)
46 Éternel, jusques à quand te cacheras-tu toujours, et ton courroux sera-t-il enflammé comme un feu?
How long, O LORD, wilt thou hid thyself for ever? [how long] shall thy wrath burn like fire?
47 Pense à moi! qu'est-ce que la vie? Pour quel néant tu as créé les enfants des humains!
O remember how short my time is: for what vanity hast thou created all the children of men!
48 Quel homme vit, et ne voit pas la mort? dégage son âme de la main des Enfers? (Pause) (Sheol h7585)
What man is he that shall live and not see death, that shall deliver his soul from the power of Sheol? (Selah) (Sheol h7585)
49 Où sont tes grâces premières, Seigneur, qu'en ta fidélité tu promis par serment à David?
Lord, where are thy former mercies, which thou swarest unto David in thy faithfulness?
50 Souviens-toi, Seigneur, de l'opprobre de tes serviteurs; songe que je porte en mon cœur tous ces peuples nombreux,
Remember, Lord, the reproach of thy servants; how I do bear in my bosom [the reproach of] all the mighty peoples:
51 que tes ennemis insultent, Éternel, insultent aux pas de ton Oint!
Wherewith thine enemies have reproached, O LORD, wherewith they have reproached the footsteps of thine anointed.
52 Béni soit l'Éternel a jamais! Ainsi soit-il! Oui! Ainsi soit-il!
Blessed be the LORD for evermore. Amen, and Amen.
