Psaumes 76
1 Au maître chantre. Avec instruments à cordes. Cantique d'Asaph. Dieu est connu en Juda, son nom est grand en Israël;
To the Chief Musician. With Stringed Instruments. A Melody of Asaph, a Song. God is, known in Judah, In Israel, great is his Name;
2 et sa demeure est en Salem, et sa résidence en Sion.
Now hath come into Salem, his pavilion, And his dwelling-place into Zion.
3 Là Il a brisé les foudres de l'arc, le bouclier, et l'épée, et les armes de guerre. (Pause)
There, hath he broken in pieces the arrows of the bow, shield and sword, and battle. (Selah)
4 Tu es plus brillante, plus magnifique que les montagnes des ravisseurs!
Enveloped in light, thou, art more majestic than the mountains of prey.
5 Ils furent dépouillés les héros courageux, et ils s'endormirent de leur sommeil; et tous les braves ne retrouvèrent plus leurs bras.
The valiant of heart have become a spoil, They have slumbered their sleep, And none of the men of might have found their hands.
6 A ta menace, Dieu de Jacob, et chars et chevaux furent engourdis.
At thy rebuke, O God of Jacob, Stunned are the horsemen.
7 Tu es formidable; qui peut tenir contre toi, dès que tu t'irrites?
As for thee, to be feared thou art! Who then shall stand before thee, because of the power of thine anger?
8 Des cieux tu promulguas ta sentence; la terre fut en effroi, et se calma,
Out of the heavens, didst thou cause judgment to be heard, Earth, feared and was still:
9 lorsque Dieu se leva pour juger, pour porter secours à tous les affligés de la terre. (Pause)
When God rose up to judgment, To save all the oppressed of the earth. (Selah)
10 Oui, la fureur de l'homme te glorifie; tu t'entoures de ceux qui survivent à ta colère.
For the multitude of mankind shall give thanks unto thee, The remainder of the multitude, shall keep holy festival unto thee.
11 Faites et acquittez des vœux à l'Éternel, votre Dieu! Que de tous Ses alentours on apporte des dons au Dieu terrible!
Vow and pay, unto Yahweh your God, —Let, all who are round about him, bear along a gift unto him who is to be revered.
12 Il abat l'orgueil des princes, Il est redoutable aux rois de la terre.
He cutteth off the spirit of nobles, he is of reverend majesty to the kings of the earth.
