Psaumes 143
1 Cantique de David. Éternel, entends ma prière, écoute ma supplication! Au nom de ta fidélité, exauce-moi! au nom de ta justice!
A Psalm of David, when his son pursued him. O Lord, attend to my prayer: hearken to my supplication in thy truth; hear me in thy righteousness.
2 et n'appelle point en jugement ton serviteur! car aucun des vivants n'est juste devant toi.
And enter not into judgment with thy servant, for in thy sight shall no [man] living be justified.
3 Car l'ennemi poursuit mon âme, foule ma vie contre terre, me pousse dans le lieu ténébreux, vers ceux qui sont morts dès longtemps.
For the enemy has persecuted my soul; he has brought my life down to the ground; he has made me to dwell in a dark [place], as those that have been long dead.
4 Et mon esprit s'alarme en moi, et mon cœur frissonne au dedans de moi.
Therefore my spirit was grieved in me; my heart was troubled within me.
5 Je me rappelle les jours d'autrefois, je pense à tout ce que tu as fait; je médite tout ce qu'ont opéré tes mains.
I remembered the days of old; and I meditated on all thy doings: [yea], I meditated on the works of thine hands.
6 Je tends mes mains vers toi; comme une terre altérée, mon âme te [désire]. (Pause)
I spread forth my hands to thee; my soul [thirsts] for thee, as a dry land. (Pause)
7 Hâte-toi, réponds-moi, Éternel! mon esprit se consume; ne me cache pas ta face! sinon, je ressemble aux hommes descendus au tombeau.
Hear me speedily, O Lord; my spirit has failed; turn not away thy face from me, else I shall be like to them that go down to the pit.
8 Fais-moi bientôt ressentir ta grâce! car je me confie en toi. Indique-moi la voie qu'il me faut suivre! car j'élève mon âme à toi.
Cause me to hear thy mercy in the morning; for I have hoped in thee; make known to me, O Lord, the way wherein I should walk; for I have lifted up my soul to thee.
9 Délivre-moi de mes ennemis, Éternel! car auprès de toi je me mets à couvert.
Deliver me from mine enemies, O Lord; for I have fled to thee for refuge.
10 Enseigne-moi à faire ta volonté! car tu es mon Dieu. Que ton bon esprit me conduise sur la voie droite!
Teach me to do thy will; for thou art my God; thy good Spirit shall guide me in the straight [way].
11 Pour l'amour de ton nom, Éternel, tu me sauveras, par l'effet de ta justice, tu me dégageras de l'angoisse,
Thou shalt quicken me, O Lord, for thy name's sake; in thy righteousness thou shalt bring my soul out of affliction.
12 et, dans ta grâce, tu détruiras mes ennemis, et tu feras périr tous ceux qui sont hostiles à mon âme parce que je suis ton serviteur.
And in thy mercy thou wilt destroy mine enemies, and wilt destroy all those that afflict my soul; for I am thy servant.
