Psaumes 124

1 Cantique graduel. De David. Sans l'Éternel qui nous fut secourable, (ainsi doit parler Israël)

A Song of Ascents. David’s. If it had not been, Yahweh, who was on our side, oh might Israel say:

2 sans l'Éternel qui nous fut secourable, quand les hommes s'élevaient contre nous,

If it had not been, Yahweh, who was on our side, when men rose up against us,

3 ils nous auraient engloutis tout vivants, quand leur fureur s'enflammait contre nous;

Then, alive, had they swallowed us up, in the glow of their anger against us;

4 alors les eaux nous auraient submergés, et aux torrents notre âme aurait succombé,

Then, the waters, had whelmed us, the torrent, gone over our soul;

5 alors notre âme aurait succombé aux eaux bouillonnantes.

Then, had gone over our soul the waters so proud!

6 Béni soit l'Éternel, qui ne nous a pas livrés en proie à leurs dents!

Blessed, be Yahweh, who gave us not as prey to their teeth.

7 Notre âme s'est échappée, comme l'oiseau du filet de l'oiseleur;

Our soul, as a bird, hath escaped from the snare of the fowlers, The snare, is broken, and, we, are escaped:

8 le filet fut rompu, et nous nous échappâmes, Notre secours est dans le nom de l'Éternel, créateur des Cieux et de la terre.

Our help, is in the Name of Yahweh, who made heaven and earth.
