Psaumes 101

1 Cantique de David. Je vais chanter la bonté et la droiture; c'est toi, Éternel, que je célébrerai.

David’s. A Melody. Of lovingkindness and of justice, will I sing! Unto thee, O Yahweh, will I touch the strings!

2 Je m'appliquerai à suivre une voie innocente: ô puissé-je y parvenir! J'agirai dans l'innocence du cœur au sein de ma maison.

I will behave myself wisely in a blameless way, When wilt thou come in unto me? I will walk to and fro in the blamelessness of my heart, —in the midst of my house:

3 Je ne mettrai devant mes yeux aucune chose indigne; je hais la conduite des transgresseurs, sur moi elle n'aura pas de prise.

I will not set before mine eyes, a vile thing, —The doing of them who fall away, I hate, It shall not cleave unto me;

4 Que le cœur pervers se tienne loin de moi, je ne veux pas connaître le méchant.

A perverse heart, shall depart from me, A maker of mischief, will I not acknowledge;

5 Je détruirai celui qui en secret calomnie son ami; je ne supporte pas celui dont l'œil est altier et le cœur enflé.

He that uttereth slander in secret against his friend, him, will I root out; One of lofty eyes, and of an ambitious heart, him shall I not be able to endure.

6 Mes yeux se porteront vers les hommes sûrs du pays, pour les faire habiter avec moi; ceux qui suivent une voie innocente, seront mes serviteurs.

Mine eyes, shall be upon the faithful of the land, That they may dwell with me, —he that walketh in a blameless way, he, shall attend me.

7 Il ne s'assiéra pas dans ma maison celui qui fait des fraudes; celui qui ment ne pourra demeurer sous mes yeux.

There shall not dwell in the midst of my house, One who worketh deceit, —he that speaketh falsehoods, shall not be established before mine eyes;

8 Chaque jour je veillerai à arracher les impies du pays, à bannir de la cité de l'Éternel tous ceux qui font le mal.

Morning by morning, will I uproot, All the lawless ones of the land, That I may cut off, out of the city of Yahweh—All the workers of iniquity.
