Proverbes 28
1 Sans qu'on le poursuive, l'impie prend la fuite, mais le juste a l'assurance du jeune lion.
The wicked have fled and there is no pursuer, And the righteous is confident as a young lion.
2 Par la révolte d'un pays, ses princes deviennent nombreux, mais si les hommes sont sages, et connaissent la droiture, [le prince] règne longtemps.
By the transgression of a land its heads are many, And by an understanding man, Who knows right—it is prolonged.
3 Un homme qui est pauvre, et opprime les petits, est une pluie qui balaie et ne laisse point de pain.
A man—poor and oppressing the weak, [Is] a sweeping rain, and there is no bread.
4 Ceux qui négligent la Loi, louent l'impie, mais ceux qui gardent la Loi, s'indignent contre lui.
Those forsaking the Law praise the wicked, Those keeping the Law plead against them.
5 Les hommes livrés au mal n'ont pas l'intelligence du juste, mais ceux qui cherchent l'Éternel, ont l'intelligence de tout.
Evil men do not understand judgment, And those seeking YHWH understand all.
6 Mieux vaut un pauvre qui marche dans son innocence, que celui qui tourne dans une double voie, et qui est riche.
Better [is] the poor walking in his integrity, Than the perverse of ways who is rich.
7 Qui garde la Loi, est un fils intelligent, mais qui se plaît avec les prodigues, fait honte à son père.
Whoever is keeping the Law is an intelligent son, And a friend of gluttons Causes his father to blush.
8 Celui qui augmente son bien par l'usure et l'intérêt, l'amasse pour le bienfaiteur du pauvre.
Whoever is multiplying his wealth by biting and usury, Gathers it for one favoring the poor.
9 De celui qui détourne l'oreille pour ne pas écouter la Loi, les prières aussi sont une abomination.
Whoever is turning his ear from hearing the Law, Even his prayer [is] an abomination.
10 Celui qui entraîne le juste dans la mauvaise voie, tombera dans la fosse même qu'il a faite; mais les innocents auront le bien pour héritage.
Whoever is causing the upright to err in an evil way, He falls into his own pit, And the perfect inherits good.
11 A ses propres yeux le riche est sage, mais le pauvre intelligent le pénètre.
A rich man is wise in his own eyes, And the intelligent poor searches him.
12 Quand les justes triomphent, il y a grande pompe; mais quand les impies s'élèvent, les hommes se cachent.
In the exulting of the righteous the glory [is] abundant, And in the rising of the wicked man is apprehensive.
13 Celui qui cache ses fautes, ne prospère point; mais qui les confesse et les délaisse, obtient miséricorde.
Whoever is covering his transgressions does not prosper, And he who is confessing and forsaking has mercy.
14 Heureux l'homme qui vit toujours dans la crainte! mais qui endurcit son cœur, tombe dans le malheur.
O the blessedness of a man fearing continually, And whoever is hardening his heart falls into evil.
15 Un lion rugissant et un ours affamé, c'est le prince impie d'un peuple pauvre.
A growling lion, and a ranging bear, [Is] the wicked ruler over a poor people.
16 Le prince privé de sens est un grand oppresseur; mais celui qui déteste la cupidité, règne longuement.
A leader lacking understanding multiplies oppressions, Whoever is hating dishonest gain prolongs days.
17 L'homme qui est sous le poids d'un meurtre, fuit jusques dans le tombeau, craignant d'être saisi.
A man oppressed with the blood of a soul, Flees to the pit, [and] none takes hold on him [to help].
18 Celui qui suit la voie innocente, sera sauvé; mais l'homme tortueux qui suit deux voies, tombera dans l'une.
Whoever is walking uprightly is saved, And the perverted of ways falls at once.
19 Qui cultive son champ, sera rassasié de pain; et qui s'attache aux fainéants, sera rassasié d'indigence.
Whoever is tilling his ground is satisfied [with] bread, And whoever is pursuing vanity, Is filled [with] poverty.
20 L'homme probe sera comblé de bénédictions, mais qui veut s'enrichir promptement, ne reste pas impuni.
A steadfast man has multiplied blessings, And whoever is hastening to be rich is not acquitted.
21 Etre partial n'est point chose bonne; cependant pour une bouchée de pain, tel se rend criminel.
[It] is not good to discern faces, And a man transgresses for a piece of bread.
22 L'envieux court après la richesse, et ne voit pas l'indigence qui fond sur lui.
The man [with] an evil eye [is] troubled for wealth, And he does not know that want meets him.
23 Celui qui reprend les hommes, finit par être mieux vu que le flatteur.
Whoever is reproving a man finds grace afterward, More than a flatterer with the tongue.
24 Celui qui a dépouillé son père ou sa mère, et dit: Ce n'est pas un crime! est camarade du brigand.
Whoever is robbing his father or his mother, And is saying, “It is not transgression,” He is a companion to a destroyer.
25 L'homme qui s'enfle, excite les querelles, mais qui se confie dans l'Éternel, aura l'abondance.
Whoever is proud in soul stirs up contention, And whoever is trusting on YHWH is made fat.
26 Celui qui se fie en son sens, est un fou; mais qui suit la voie de la sagesse, échappe.
Whoever is trusting in his heart is a fool, And whoever is walking in wisdom is delivered.
27 Pour qui donne au pauvre, il n'y a point d'indigence, mais pour qui ferme ses yeux, grande malédiction.
Whoever is giving to the poor has no lack, And whoever is hiding his eyes multiplied curses.
28 Quand les impies s'élèvent, les hommes se cachent, mais quand ils périssent, les justes s'accroissent.
A man is hidden in the rising of the wicked, And the righteous multiply in their destruction!
