Proverbes 21
1 Le cœur d'un roi est un ruisseau dans la main de Dieu, qui l'incline partout où Il veut.
The king's heart is in the hand of YHWH, as the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will.
2 Les voies de l'homme sont toutes droites à ses yeux; mais l'Éternel pèse les cœurs.
Every way of a man is right in his own eyes: but YHWH pondereth the hearts.
3 Faire ce qui est droit et juste, est plus agréable à l'Éternel que les sacrifices.
To do justice and judgment is more acceptable to YHWH than sacrifice.
4 Le regard hautain, et le cœur qui s'enfle, ce flambeau des impies, est un péché.
An high look, and a proud heart, and the plowing of the wicked, is sin.
5 La circonspection du diligent ne mène qu'à l'abondance: mais celui qui précipite, n'arrive qu'à l'indigence.
The thoughts of the diligent tend only to plenteousness; but of every one that is hasty only to want.
6 Les trésors acquis par les mensonges de la langue, sont un souffle qui se dissipe: ils tendent à la mort.
The getting of treasures by a lying tongue is a vanity tossed to and fro of them that seek death.
7 La violence des impies les emporte eux-mêmes, car ils refusent de faire ce qui est juste.
The robbery of the wicked shall destroy them; because they refuse to do judgment.
8 L'homme dont la voie est tortueuse, dévie; mais de l'homme pur la conduite est droite.
The way of man is froward and strange: but as for the pure, his work is right.
9 Mieux vaut habiter un coin du toit, que près d'une femme querelleuse, et un logis commun.
It is better to dwell in a corner of the housetop, than with a brawling woman in a wide house.
10 Ce que veut l'impie, c'est le mal; à ses yeux son ami ne saurait trouver grâce.
The soul of the wicked desireth evil: his neighbour findeth no favour in his eyes.
11 Le moqueur est-il puni, le faible en devient sage; qu'on instruise le sage, il accueille la science.
When the scorner is punished, the simple is made wise: and when the wise is instructed, he receiveth knowledge.
12 Le Juste a l'œil sur la maison de l'impie; Il précipite les impies dans le malheur.
The righteous man wisely considereth the house of the wicked: but Elohim overthroweth the wicked for their wickedness.
13 Celui qui ferme son oreille au cri du pauvre, criera aussi, et restera sans réponse.
Whoso stoppeth his ears at the cry of the poor, he also shall cry himself, but shall not be heard.
14 Un don fait en secret fléchit la colère, et un présent glissé dans le sein, un courroux violent.
A gift in secret pacifieth anger: and a reward in the bosom strong wrath.
15 C'est une joie pour le juste de pratiquer la droiture; mais cela fait peur au méchant.
It is joy to the just to do judgment: but destruction shall be to the workers of iniquity.
16 L'homme qui s'écarte de la voie de la raison, ira reposer dans la société des Ombres.
The man that wandereth out of the way of understanding shall remain in the congregation of the dead.
17 L'amateur du plaisir tombe dans l'indigence; et celui qui aime le vin et les parfums, ne s'enrichira pas.
He that loveth pleasure shall be a poor man: he that loveth wine and oil shall not be rich.
18 L'impie devient une rançon pour le juste; et l'infidèle, pour les hommes droits.
The wicked shall be a ransom for the righteous, and the transgressor for the upright.
19 Mieux vaut habiter un désert, que d'avoir une femme querelleuse et chagrine.
It is better to dwell in the wilderness, than with a contentious and an angry woman.
20 Il y a trésors précieux et huile dans la maison du sage; mais l'insensé absorbe ces choses.
There is treasure to be desired and oil in the dwelling of the wise; but a foolish man spendeth it up.
21 Qui cherche justice et bonté, trouve vie, justice et gloire.
He that followeth after righteousness and mercy findeth life, righteousness, and honour.
22 Le sage escalade la ville des héros, et abat le fort auquel ils s'assuraient.
A wise man scaleth the city of the mighty, and casteth down the strength of the confidence thereof.
23 Qui veille sur sa bouche et sa langue, préserve son âme de la détresse.
Whoso keepeth his mouth and his tongue keepeth his soul from troubles.
24 Moqueur est le nom du superbe, du hautain; il agit dans l'excès de son orgueil.
Proud and haughty scorner is his name, who dealeth in proud wrath.
25 Les désirs du lâche le tuent, car ses mains refusent d'agir,
The desire of the slothful killeth him; for his hands refuse to labour.
26 tout le jour il désire avidement; mais le juste donne, et sans parcimonie.
He coveteth greedily all the day long: but the righteous giveth and spareth not.
27 Le sacrifice des impies est abominable; combien plus s'ils l'offrent en pensant au crime!
The sacrifice of the wicked is abomination: how much more, when he bringeth it with a wicked mind?
28 Le témoin menteur périt; mais l'homme qui écoute, pourra toujours parler.
A false witness shall perish: but the man that heareth speaketh constantly.
29 L'impie prend un air effronté; mais l'homme droit règle sa marche.
A wicked man hardeneth his face: but as for the upright, he directeth his way.
30 Il n'y a ni sagesse, ni prudence ni conseil, devant l'Éternel.
There is no wisdom nor understanding nor counsel against YHWH.
31 Le cheval est équipé pour le jour de la bataille; mais c'est de l'Éternel que vient la victoire.
The horse is prepared against the day of battle: but safety is of YHWH.
