Proverbes 15
1 Une douce réponse calme le courroux; mais une parole dure excite la colère.
A SOFT answer turneth away wrath: but a grievous word stirreth up anger.
2 La langue des sages rend la science aimable; la bouche des insensés épanche la folie.
The tongue of the wise uttereth knowledge aright: but the mouth of fools poureth out folly.
3 Les yeux de l'Éternel sont en tous lieux, observant les méchants et les bons.
The eyes of the LORD are in every place, keeping watch upon the evil and the good.
4 La langue qui calme, est un arbre de vie; mais celle qui trouble, brise l'âme.
A wholesome tongue is a tree of life: but perverseness therein is a breaking of the spirit.
5 L'insensé dédaigne les leçons de son père; mais qui garde la correction, agit prudemment.
A fool despiseth his father’s correction: but he that regardeth reproof getteth prudence.
6 Grande abondance dans la maison du juste, désordre dans le revenu de l'impie.
In the house of the righteous is much treasure: but in the revenues of the wicked is trouble.
7 Les lèvres du sage sèment la science, et le cœur des fous, des choses vaines.
The lips of the wise disperse knowledge: but the heart of the foolish [doeth] not so.
8 Le sacrifice des impies est l'abomination de l'Éternel; mais la prière des hommes droits lui est agréable.
The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the LORD: but the prayer of the upright is his delight.
9 La voie de l'impie est l'abomination de l'Éternel; mais Il aime celui qui s'attache à la justice.
The way of the wicked is an abomination to the LORD: but he loveth him that followeth after righteousness.
10 Sévère leçon à qui s'écarte de la voie; qui n'aime pas à être repris, périra.
There is grievous correction for him that forsaketh the way: [and] he that hateth reproof shall die.
11 Les Enfers et l'abîme sont à découvert pour l'Éternel, et plus encore les cœurs des enfants des hommes. (Sheol h7585)
Sheol and Abaddon are before the LORD: how much more then the hearts of the children of men! (Sheol h7585)
12 Le moqueur n'aime pas à être repris; il ne s'approche point des sages.
A scorner loveth not to be reproved: he will not go unto the wise.
13 Un cœur joyeux rend le visage serein; mais quand le cœur souffre, l'esprit est abattu.
A merry heart maketh a cheerful countenance: but by sorrow of heart the spirit is broken.
14 Le cœur de l'homme sensé cherche la science; et le regard de l'insensé se repaît de folie.
The heart of him that hath understanding seeketh knowledge: but the mouth of fools feedeth on folly.
15 Tous les jours sont mauvais pour le malheureux; mais le cœur content est un festin perpétuel.
All the days of the afflicted are evil: but he that is of a cheerful heart [hath] a continual feast.
16 Mieux vaut avoir peu, et la crainte de Dieu, que de grands trésors, et le trouble.
Better is little with the fear of the LORD, than great treasure and trouble therewith.
17 Mieux vaut un plat d'herbes, et de la cordialité, qu'un bœuf gras, et de la haine.
Better is a dinner of herbs where love is, than a stalled ox and hatred therewith.
18 L'homme colère excite des querelles, le patient apaise les rixes.
A wrathful man stirreth up contention: but he that is slow to anger appeaseth strife.
19 La voie du paresseux est comme une haie d'épines; le chemin des gens de bien est uni.
The way of the sluggard is as an hedge of thorns: but the path of the upright is made an highway.
20 Un fils sage réjouit son père; mais un homme insensé méprise sa mère.
A wise son maketh a glad father: but a foolish man despiseth his mother.
21 La folie est le bonheur de qui manque de sens; mais l'homme raisonnable suit le droit chemin.
Folly is joy to him that is void of wisdom: but a man of understanding maketh straight his going.
22 Inutiles sont les avis là où l'on ne délibère pas; mais où il y a plusieurs conseillers, ils sont efficaces.
Where there is no counsel, purposes are disappointed: but in the multitude of counsellors they are established.
23 C'est un plaisir pour l'homme quand sa bouche sait répondre; et qu'un mot dit à propos va bien!
A man hath joy in the answer of his mouth: and a word in due season, how good is it!
24 Le chemin de la vie est montant pour le sage, afin qu'il évite celui des Enfers qui descend. (Sheol h7585)
To the wise the way of life [goeth] upward, that he may depart from Sheol beneath. (Sheol h7585)
25 L'Éternel renverse la maison des superbes; mais Il rend stable la borne de la veuve.
The LORD will root up the house of the proud: but he will establish the border of the widow.
26 Les plans de la malice sont l'abomination de l'Éternel; mais les paroles de bonté sont pures devant lui.
Evil devices are an abomination to the LORD: but pleasant words [are] pure.
27 Celui-là ruine sa maison, qui est avide de gain; mais celui qui n'aime pas les présents, vivra.
He that is greedy of gain troubleth his own house: but he that hateth gifts shall live.
28 Le cœur du juste médite sa réponse; mais la bouche des impies vomit la malice.
The heart of the righteous studieth to answer: but the mouth of the wicked poureth out evil things.
29 L'Éternel s'éloigne des impies, mais Il prête l'oreille à la prière des justes.
The LORD is far from the wicked: but he heareth the prayer of the righteous.
30 Un regard affectueux réjouit le cœur; une bonne nouvelle verse de la moelle dans les os.
The light of the eyes rejoiceth the heart: [and] good tidings make the bones fat.
31 Celui dont l'oreille écoute les leçons de la vie, se trouve toujours au milieu des sages.
The ear that hearkeneth to the reproof of life shall abide among the wise.
32 Qui repousse les leçons, se condamne soi-même; mais qui écoute les avis, gagne du sens.
He that refuseth correction despiseth his own soul: but he that hearkeneth to reproof getteth understanding.
33 La crainte de l'Éternel est l'école de la sagesse; et l'humilité précède la gloire.
The fear of the LORD is the instruction of wisdom; and before honour [goeth] humility.
